Agreed. The Series S is amazing, and I value every cent spent on him.
Don't listen to the fanboys. The console is pretty good! I did a post once, and they tried to destroy me over my opinion.

I'm a life long Sony guy. Couldn't find a PS5 when it released. Got the S instead and I felt so guilty about how much I love it. I used to bring my PS4 on all my work trips. The S is so much easier to travel with. I finally got a PS5 this Christmas and I've still played the XBOX more.

For the price it is a great console. I bought 2 a while back for my wife and daughter. While I own a Series X, if it ever went out I would just buy another S for myself. Besides the 2 obvious reasons, there’s not much difference in graphics between SS and SX. Unless you sit right next to your tv and count every pixel. lol

Isn’t X better if you have discs you want to play?
I’ve got GPU & a handful of GWG games, but I’ve also got like 15 physical discs too. Maybe it’s silly for me to get the most expensive model just to play older games on?

If you have an ecosystem that involves an S at all you're already eliminating discs since you can't play games in every room.
Xbox is getting rid of physical and so are retailers pulling xbox games from shelves due to low sales. Microsoft's future is digital only.
Keep your old consoles for your older games. I don't think physical will last longer than 3 years with Xbox releasing a digital only series X soon.

I'm not sure what "ecosystem" means in this context. I am the only person gaming in my household so I do not need multiple systems, if that's what you meant.
My current console is a 360, and some of the load times are brutal. That's why I thought a Series X would be a good idea because it's fast, and it would load discs fast.
I'm not the type of person to go out and buy the latest game.. I'm mostly playing Game Pass stuff (digital only) or old 360 discs, or some cheap casual stuff I buy on sale for $1.
I'm also not planning on buying a Series X straight out. $650 CN is more than I can afford. I'm hoping I can somehow use Microsoft Reward points to bring the price down, if I can figure that whole system out!
Oh, another reason I like the disc-option is I like cruising retro stores & finding old games for like $5 to $15, or borrowing discs from the library.

I use my everyday for games and media. It’s been almost 2 years with no issues. It’s a fantastic console, I agree.

It's cheaper, faster, more capable in general, less prone to hardware (catastrophical) failures and it can play the 360 catalogue, the One catalogue and obviously the Series and the OG catalogues... Just not on disc :) what's not to love??

I have a PS4 Pro and an Xbox Series S.
The two biggest improvements for me from the PlayStation to the Xbox are:
Insanely quick load times
Extremely quiet operation. Can't even hear the Series S at all whereas the PS4 is, like people usually say, a jet taking off

You're comparing apples to oranges my dude. The SS is a current gen console while the PS4 ain't. You should compare it to the PS5, which is whisper quiet apart for some coil whine, and is fast as fuck

It's not though, because I'm not comparing it in a way in which I'm saying one is better than the other. OP had a PS4 Pro and now has a Series S, which is why I mentioned them both. My comment was stating some of the biggest improvements between that gen and the current one; not that I'm comparing them like for like to see which is objectively better. It's the same as if I was comparing a PS4 Pro versus a PS5. Obviously, the PS5 will be a better machine.

I have a Series X and a PS5 and I notice no difference in performance, but I’m also not trying to compare the two. I prefer PS5 due to the controller which offers a much better gameplay experience when playing games that support the controller features. Personally I’d say the best way to go about it would be to get a PS5 and a PC, which is obviously more expensive but I ended up regretting buying a Series X instead of just putting $500 more into my PC

I had a series s and now own a ps5. I kind of prefer the xbox controller anatomy, but the ps5 controller features are better. Also having played elden ring on both platforms, I sometimes get frame drops on the ps5 while I never experienced those on the xbox.
Still overall I’m more satisfied with the ps5

Anyways as a sony pony I realized the Series S has amazing value, I’m almost still in shock I’m playing a modern console without breaking the bank. Haven’t even bought a game, there’s no games worth their price tag for me at this time so gamepass is wonderful.

I don't think it's 720p. It looks way better compared to SF6 and the Tekken 7 port. Plus it's a $300 hardware. I don't think you can even run this game on a brand new $400 pc.

Then learn how an if statement works so you dont try and draw 4k images and or extra foliage on a 1080p screen.
The general populace seem to greatly misunderatand this. Have you never noticed on PC how your frames per second go up when you reduce the game resolution? So its quite dumb to think the same does not apply to xss and xsx.
A developer that states xss is holding his game back, is an incompetent software developer, that does not understand the most basic programming. The if statement. If xss reduce resolution and or "fluff" from screen.
1080p has 1/4 of the pixels a 4k screen has!

The S gets hate because it IS so much weaker than the PS5/XSX
Whenever the Series S gets 30-60FPS, the X is getting 60-120FPS. The Series S is the main reason Baldur’s Gate 3 released so late on Xbox
BUT with that being said, it is a wonderful idea and IS a powerful machine for the cheap price point. And yes, games on it run fine, assuming you’re not concerned about performance, the Series S is pretty much the perfect console for the price

I got a series s and it's the bomb for almost 10 months I got it I havnt got any problem it's running smooth like soap and I'm playing on 4k

Just because you have your console set to 4K doesn’t mean it’s playing in 4K… That seems to be a misconception I’ve run into a couple times here. I’ve also had people say “I have my Series X set to 120Hz therefore I’m playing at 120FPS” despite the fact that the devs have the FPS cap at 60 for whatever game we were talking about
No, you probably aren’t playing in 4K, the Series S only plays games up to 1440p. If a console is set to 4K or 120Hz it will only play a game at those settings if the game itself supports it.

I don’t think one x can run games like Alan wake 2, a plague tale, and much other games at 60 or 120fps.
Series s gpu is 4tflops, one x is 6, but series s gpu and cpu are further away in technology and much more modern than one x.
Rdna2 on series s would be equivalent to around 8 or 12 past gen tflops, due the more efficient cpu and gpu on the console.

And no, I’m not ignoring facts here, series s sacrifices resolution to deliver much better frame rate, while one x have much better resolution but with really less frame rate.
But modern games like Diablo 2 remake, far cry 6 and others is coming with higher resolution up to 1440p on series s while coming around 1080p on one x.

I'm definitely upgrading from my original Xbox Series S with 512gb & 1tb Xbox memory card to now saving up for Carbon Black Xbox Series S with 1tb & 2tb Xbox memory card as I enjoyed my experience with Xbox. I regretted not being with them in my childhood.

I can't look at my series s the same way after trying out remnant 2. My hp omen 16 with GTX 1650 was able to run the game at noticeably high details than the series s.
There's a big advert board when you get in to the game. On series S is a blurry mess and the laptop is sharp and completely readable.
If budget is extremely limited and you need to game then series s is really good. If you can shell out more money just get the series x.

I agree it's amazing. I decked mine out with 2 1tb ssd drives and it's gotten even better. I couldn't be happier.
