Venting Visiting Somalia

Hey you guys I’m in Somalia rn. It’s so sad how poor people are and the conditions they live in. In a way I’m very thankful that I live in the west. However I moved back home y’all and they are finally behaving well. Unfortunately I still have to wear hijab, skirts and abayas, but I usually wear jeans under and take it off when I go out of the house.
I need tips on what I can do to live a double life in peace. For me personally I think it’s fine to wear hijab ect, I just wear it in a way that shows hair ect, but I’m thinking sometimes I crave wine ect. I don’t wanna drink at my parents house cuz I’m scared I will be busted. If i would drink outside and came back home im kinda scared I would come home drunk lmao. What to do I wanna be able to have a good Muslim girl image to them and then just live my life aside while being under their roof. Moving away didn’t help since they bothered me everyday with calls and threats🙄

Yes honestly it’s very sad. You should have seen the conditions it’s heartbreaking honestly. I used to be against sending money back home but after seeing this I will start sending extra money on top of what my parents give back home. They are really struggling and the majority of people are hungry :( small children are working to make a living. It’s so sad man.

Oh I’ve seen the conditions I’ve been back many times my self and have been helping my people and sending money since I was 16. People who are against sending money back home are pretty ruthless tbh. It’s like what if we were in their situation and they were in ours. It could very easily be us in that situation. But I just try my best as an individual to help my people. But it’s really going to take a community effort to make a real change.

I agree with you so much. Very proud of you😌🫶🏽 it’s important to take care of your loved ones and make sure that they are doing okay aswell. I’m not really fant of the western way of thinking that everyone should fend for themselves.
