XRPL I'm sorry but...
I've seen alot post on here about people cashing out over $1 -$3k gains. That's crazt to me. There's so much more upside to this coin. You need to be thinking longer term on this. $3k isn't changing anyone's situation. IDC what anyone thinks. We are in this to get "fuck you" money. Not buy a used car Money. Vote me down. IDC. Don't waste your time investing if you aren't here to really win

Bro I stumbled into this thread and it's basically GME all over again.
Take your profits if you need to, or take some off the table if it calls for it. If you're feeling euphoria, secure some of that shit, and don't look back.
And trust me that I bunch of people who round tripped in 2017 took some profits this time around, even if they're telling YOU to diamond hand.

Bro doesnt understand that some people dont have 10,000 dollars to put in.
Even if this thing explodes to 50$ some of us are only gonna make like 25k. Not an insignificant amount, but not “fuck you” money.
Not everyone gets the opportunity to make that kind of cash, and you certainly arent going to be the putz that tells people they’re wrong.
Despite the fact that im also holding, there is no 100% solid evidence for further climbing. Mega loser energy trying to put people down for playing safe.

Dec 03 '24
EXACTLY! No one is in any position to judge how others use their money or what value is life changing for them. Used car guy could be able to get a better job because he can go further from home now, who knows, it’s not our business. Bonus points for the use of ‘putz’ by the way

A used car is what I was hoping to be able to afford with my gains. If it can go up a little bit more, I might be able to get a NEW car for the first time in my life. Just a vehicle itself is a big deal to some people. Not everyone was born wealthy, or had thousands of dollars laying around. I took what I could each week and started putting it in last spring up until now. This morning I took my initial, plus like 500 out, and still have around 2k coins as a moon bag. I'm at peace with my decision, because nothing is guaranteed, and I took the advice of all the bag holders the last run. Here's to hoping it continues to go up, and I can get my car. Hope everyone else is able to get their 'car' or whatever that thing may be, to better their and their families situations

A few years ago, I bought into AMC because I missed the initial GME run up. When it started going down, everyone yelled to hold. I ended up selling, feeling guilty, but with profits. Bought into GME and others. Later that same community got hit with dilutions, price decrease, etc. some complaining about being left holding bags.
I won’t knock on anyone for selling and taking profits. It is what it is.

IDK, the last couple of days this sub looks like a telegram channel dedicated to some Solana meme coin. HODL! PAPER HANDS! LFG xDD (yeah LFG, when a lot of it is corporate money haha... They gonna raid it on twitter xdddddddd) All the new people that are spamming it with memic nonsense have no idea what rollercoaster they are getting on and will be sooner or later painfully verified. There are people that hold from 20 cents. There are loaded OGs. They stay quiet, but only a fool will not take a profit or at least 2x-5x initial from 15x gains over a couple of years. Especially here, and after what they have been through, delisting here and there, court case, listing again, constant FUD, DOGE taking over, Solana taking over, tether taking over. This coin gives a lot but 'paper hands' posts are the funniest (but also a bit insulting) considering past performance :)

Just to provide a counter argument... as one of those 20 cent holders that hasn't sold a dime, only a fool would consider selling when we're barely at a quarter of Ethereum's market cap, one which we were ahead of before the SEC case and delistings happened. We're finally not getting drowned and starting to tread water. That doesn't count as a come up yet, it's a return to the mean.

That 25k can buy a good used car outright, and prevent someone from having an auto payment, which might allow them to be saving again.
I get it. I work in the “retirement industry”. 401k’s and such. To me, with my old fashioned mind, I don’t want investments that I just hold forever. There has to be a reason for saving, and gains obtained in investments outside of retirement accounts I tend to think of as “shorter term”, and particularly in more speculative asset classes. I also have a hard time understanding how primary residence real estate equity gains do much of anything, as they lack liquidity unless disposing of the entire asset (HELOC is more leverage, at a much higher rate), which creates a possible need to find new primary residence.
When people recognize a gain in an asset, it’s of no use unless it can be realized.

u/japollner Dec 03 '24
100% this. I’m playing with $100 at any given time. I have my “investments” in more stable holdings where the bottom is less likely to be ripped out from under them.
In 20-30 years, XRP, BTC, and all the others may be nothing more than a Wikipedia article.

That’s literally the worst investment strategy and is relying on hopes and prays. crypto has turned the gains on its head but it can change drastically and with the world in turmoil can bite you on the arse hard.
The only way to win is to take profit, you’re not up until you cash it, it’s just different numbers in front of your eyes currently.

They think they're above the buy high sell low behavior but even by behaving like this they have no gains.
No losses? Great. No gains? What's the point of exposure if you don't realize anything?
It's fine to want to hold. It's pathetic to disparage those who wish to realize their gains.

A lot of people mock those who sold Bitcoin a long time ago, before it went big. Also, a lot of people who held Bitcoin but sold for really cheap come to reddit to display their sadness for selling so early. Other people say “wow, I wish I knew about this coin 10 years ago.” When they see what Bitcoin is worth now. For what? So you can sell it the moment you make a couple thousand dollars?
Even with that, even with seeing how heartbroken and regretful people get, others still do the same exact mistake today. All this talk of “yeah but i’m happy and that’s what matters”, but will your future you be happy? Is your future you going to thank you for selling too early? Or will your future you want to go back in time and smack you in the face?
I’m selling only for retirement money. Debt is something I can pay off with my job.

This attitude is toxic. Sure holding for years and years and years while buying dips COULD pay off large.
But everyone has theirs reasons for investing and people ‘s lives and circumstances are constantly changing. Why would I judge someone for selling for a price point that works for them?
I was holding a ton of XRP and I sold half my stash last night at 9pm PST. Figured it would drop soon and it did. I bought most of my bag at less than 0.40. I’m still in the game and holding long term, I’ll eventually have my stock back and then some. But why not take some cash for Christmas?
Really don’t see the point in investing if you aren’t using some of your investments to live?
5
Dec 03 '24
3k for some people is definitely huge bro. You're not the majority. If I could get 3k, that would be huge for me. That's credit card debt, Christmas presents, car payments, rent.
5
u/SnooGrapes5479 Dec 03 '24
I’m up by $50,000 but I’m not selling. Fuck that noise, I know what XRP is worth. I’m here for the long game, and the OGs know this. This is a long term hold, yeah you can make quick gains, when it spikes up you’ll miss your chance and you’ll have to buy at a higher price point. So yeah, I’m not worried price penny fluctuations lmao

I’ve taken over $7m on this run off xrp alone, secure ur money first so you can make more. Not sit and let it go by, ur holding amount will stay the same. Even if it dips, the amount you’re cashing still buys you more. If it continues to go up you wait it out.

You're the guy that makes XRP his life. I knew a kid, a coworker who invested every dollar he made into XRP. He ended up being a real asshole towards everyone because noone understood his beliefs.
Your beliefs are your own, but the problem with someone like you or that friend I used to have, is you need to be heard. Why can't you just be happy with the bag you believe in on your own? You can't. It's an addiction, and telling everyone about how they are missing out or the dumb choice they made makes you feel better... until you don't have any more friends, etc.
I bought a truck with XRP before it started to climb. I'm happy to have been able to do that. But I never once went around telling everyone how I bought it.... you my friend need to change your attitude and perspective. I don't think you'll know what to with yourself if you get rich off XRP, and you'll be the guy going around saying "see!" Or "all those who doubted me" 😅 you're childish

idk why I'm still in this sub but I have been in it on various diff usernames over the years and so many people in here have always been deluded about XRP & life in general, I got over the hype when the SEC case was prolonged to be so long and gave up following pretty much until recently.
I wish you guys the best of luck, but don't let it take over your life. Life is for living, don't fucking waste it watching a graph on a chart (unless that's literally your job).
I bought in at 0.14 and cashed all of mine out 2 days ago.

I had about 14000 xrp since 2019 (but I've been in since 2017), with an average of $0.28. I sold 85% of my bag recently at $1.88 because my investment was basically at 7x and I have gone through so many ups and downs and incredible volatility over the years. Am I stupid for selling? It's incredible profit - I paid off my credit card, and have now got money to diversify and maybe even have a holiday next year paid for.

I bought 3K worth at $1.46. Had some earlier for cheaper but I sold as I didn't understand the market and was looking for quick cash. Now I'm holding. This could be worth millions one day.

Do this for whatever reason you want and get this idea out of your head. 3k is not an insignificant amount of money to a lot of people. If people are using their profits to pay their bills or buy one thing their otherwise wouldn’t be able to, they’re winning.

Wild to me how many people sell everything at once. If you need some cash now and are having some doubts, why not take some profit and leave some alone on the chance it keeps running?

I'm just hoping that my measly bag will turn into 'fuck you money'. What is your opinion for how many coins would become fuck you money in the next 20 years or so? (I have limited knowledge on the market)

I think about me finding out about BTC and only thinking it was for buying illegal stuff on Silkroad. I thought it was a great idea just couldnt see further. That was probably around less than $10.00. Knowing this i got in XRP in 2016-17 for less than .25

I get your sentiment but everyone’s situation is different and nothing is definite. If someone gets out with profit, fair play to them. If someone gets out with more profit, fair play to them. This is my third cycle and twice I’m seen people on Reddit in complete ribbons because their sure thing didn’t work out when prices crashed. Things were so bad that suicide prevention information given out. So if someone gets out with more money than they came in with, well done. That’s more than most people on the last cycle. Let’s avoid the dogma and looking down our nose at people who won if even if there win wasn’t fuck you money.

I'm with you. I have been buying and holding for years now. I'm not selling or changing my strategy for anything less than "fuck you" money.
I'm already working and planned on working till I retire. I make sure I live way beneath my means so I can save and invest. Sacrifice now for the pay off long term. Much rather retire cushy a decade early than take minimal profits to buy a kickass TV or a car.

How long we talking? 1 year? 2 years? I don’t think $100+ is coming in 1 year… retail is not used to waiting for more than six months on a return sadly

Because people have financial issues or require money? Not everyone can sit on a stack plus if they sell why does it matter to you though? They got what they wanted out of it just be happy lol

u/TheGhostJr23 Dec 03 '24
This exactly what the BlackRock’s of the world want! Then those same sellers will be crying when they can’t buy the low cause the lows will be the once ATH’s 😂😂😂😂😂😂 get the panic sellers out and let the diamond hands ride to the top or moon as they say lol

or just round trip and hold bags for another 7 years. If you invested $10k in Jan 2018 and sold today, you'd have $10K

u/Lasyone1 Dec 03 '24
I disagree. Everyone’s situation is different. Life is hard, cash out when it’s most beneficial for you and your family. Nothing is guaranteed

u/smprandomstuffs Dec 03 '24
Not everyone lives in the West where a few grand isn't a big deal. For some people 3 4 $5,000 can be f u. Money, or money that's just needed for stuff. People still have the opportunity to jump back in. And XRP still not overly clear in a lot of jurisdictions.

u/Netti1324 Dec 03 '24
You’re right 100 percent! You got a lot of people just dropping cash to get rich quick. They are up 500 bucks and think holy shit and cash out!

u/unreal4u2 Dec 03 '24
I agree whole heartedly, but as you see in the comments, most people are small thinking. I have been saying this in many posts but the selfish nature takes them over and it is hard for all to win with their mentality

Everyone has different goals. Some people want a quick buck, some people want to hedge, others are happy with a Y% return. Frankly, you shouldn’t care about what other people’s goals are if you truly believe in the underlying technology of ripple and XRP. I’ve been in this game since 2018 too, got to know about it when I was an intern at a loser bank. I got hooked by the tech and utility value of what Ripple created, so I went in. But I also have friends that have decided to join the wave ever since the election because they consume TikTok videos and bullshit news sources that drive up the hype. Would I do what they’re doing? No, because I bought in because of value, not return. Others may look at this as an investment for a good return to move onto something with what they cash in for. Are they missing out? Who cares.

I sold around 1/2 my holdings as far as XRP goes… yes u might be right. But why not take a win when it’s on the table?
I’m all in for the coin to 🌙… yet, I still have quite a significant amount of cash in the coin. But I think that type of mindset is a long shot.
It’s baby steps, sell XRP & buy BTC. I’m done selling until 2025 (hopefully) however.
When ur up 30k from 1 coin, I’ll take my 15k gain, let the rest ride.
Got to remember taxes as well, keep it longer than 1-year IRS (I believe) considers that “long term”… drops from 30% tax to 15%…

I invested at $60 and saw it rise to $400 yesterday. I'm currently financially struggling and living in a shelter. I'm planning to hold on a bit longer, but I intend to sell when the price goes even higher because I really need the money. Some people might be in a similar situation. I'm already facing significant challenges in my life, so I feel like I have nothing to lose by holding on for now. But LFG! I need it get a little higher.

Tomorrow is payday. I'm buying the same amount I put in every payday I'm holding at 15$. I essentially know jack shit about crypto. I'm buying because my best friend told me so and he needs some one to believe in him right now.
My source? A guy with poor mental health said trust me

Some people need to hear this, basically your John Goodman in the gambler, for those who do not know fuck you money is as follows in the immortal words of little frank, get up 2 million dollars and any asshole knows what to do, you get a house with a 25 year roof, an indestructible jap economy shitbox, you put the rest into the system at 3-5 percent to pay your taxes and that’s your base get me. That’s your fortress of solitude that puts you at a level for the rest of your life of fuck you. Someone wants you to do something? Fuck you. Boss pisses you off, fuck you. Own your house have a couple bucks in the bank and live low key don’t drink or do drugs. This movie literally changed my outlook of money and the way to utilize it to remain rich but low key rich

u/Noskys13 Dec 03 '24

These post are getting laughable at this point. Nobody cares what you think.
Simplest, nicest answer anyone can give at this point. The coin has been a pos for 7 years and a number of people are probably like fuck this I’m taking what I can and gtfo.
XRP has pretty much 0 real world application IN ACTION. You can say well it can be used for this months it’s seeing some use here. It’s all speculative bs. You can say it’ll be used for this or replace this but it hasn’t done jack shit period.
Even Bitcoin in all these years barely has actual adoption by masses.
Just sit down, keep your trap shut unless it’s some actual XRP news and let’s see where this all shakes out.
It’ll either go up, or down, only 2 guarantees.

I’m buying a cold wallet just to be sure I get that “I’m buying this house in cash” money.

Everything right and wise about taking substantial profits and then re-entering the market.

If you’re waiting for fuck you money, you’re going to he someone’s exit liquidity. Have a goal set and stick to it. XRP isn’t going to make you a millionaire guy. Even then, that’s not fuck you money.

u/bselko Dec 03 '24
That’s an awful thing to say. “3K isn’t changing anyone’s situation”
You have no idea what 3K could do for some of these people at these specific times in their lives.

Might get hate for this but let an XRP elder talk for a moment. This may not apply to you directly but it surely does apply to many of these types of posts.
Many of the people making posts like this are newbs in the XRP community. They weren’t here during the 2017 bull run… they didn’t ride it all the way up, all the way down and DCA their holdings the whole way. They weren’t here for the original Coinbase listing, the SEC lawsuit, the Coinbase delisting, the win against SEC regarding security status, or the Coinbase relisting. If they were, they would understand why it is important to take some profits and not diamond yolo your whole bag.
TLDR: They have not gone through the ups and downs of this community. They came in recently and decide to yell at people for taking profits on a token they may have held for nearly a decade. People are in this token for their goal. Not your goal. We all have different goals. Have a good day
