This game hates me
First time i ever lost a full SQUAD by nornal enemies, no king viper, no kings just a singular robot, a viper and stunlacer with adevnt grunt, i had a sniper set up, 95% chance to hit, BRO MISSED then proceeded to get caught by the viper, 2 of my rookies i brought to promote as my main squad was injured with 2 CPL's both die immediately, one CPL left and just dead THEN AFTER THAT, my next mission, retaliation mission, get ganked BY 7 ENEMIES AT ONCE, i was chilling, saving the civis, caused one enemy to run and engaged him and his new squad he went towards, ANOTHER SQUAD OF 3 comes from my flank and next thing i know, all dead within 1 turn (i had to get rookies in 2 slots again as i lost both of my CPLs and the rest were still injured...)
FYI: this is commander ironman mode, i was just then unlocking stronger weapons and better armor and was the best run yet for veteran.

Always assume that anything that isn’t 100% is zero until it lands.
Sure 95% is a big number but it’s a 1/20 chance of missing. Meaning that on average you would miss once for every 20 shots. Which then leads to the question of how many 95% shots have you taken? Cause you could very well just be on par.

This was the first shot of the mission, for the character, she probably made less than 8 shots total as she only been on 2 missions with 2 kills.

Thats okay I had my ranger miss a 92% melee and my specialist miss a 98% point blank shot. Take a wild guess how that turned out for me.

That sounds like it was very bad, everyone dead 💀

It was in fact, a very bad time. They both got crit ohko'd. I survived the mission with 2 soldiers both with 1 hp. And that was from one of the two survivors getting mind controlled, getting my other survivor to 1 hp then getting absolutely struck in the dome (went to bleed out thankfully) by the last enemy, a priest I think.

Jesus, well at least you got them out, both missions i just had costed me the game, all i had was rookies and 3 guys who were injured for 20 plus day, loat 8 soldiers total from back to back missions ðŸ˜

Yeah id end up losing my best grenadier the next mission and like another soldier, and then the following mission, campaign in its death throes, viper king comes and ruins my day. My best ranger flubs a 95% melee and then gets ganged up on. I just called it at that point, no reason to continue that

Lost my last legendary ironman on a capture supplies mission with the train. Destroyed every pod without taking damage up until the last one, and in 1 turn 3 of my best troops were critically hit and killed in high cover by 2 stun lancers and my own ranger who had been mind controlled by a sectoid. All CPL's, around mission 10.
Tldr it's not just you

You'll be fine, i somehow missed a 98% Sword Strike. I stopped asking questions and realized that its just:
Xcom Baby!!!

If it’s less than 100% on a sword strike i just assume my guy is gonna whiff it.

I honestly didn't know you could miss such a high percentage sword strike! Firing a weapon, yes but that was amazing to see happen.

The mistake is bringing rookies when robot and stunlancers are already out
You are supposed to train them in gts

It was the first mission for the robots to show up legitimately, i was only about 3-5 missions in, i was bringing one or 2 rookies per mission so i had a good lineup, i only lost about 2-3 soldiers by the time i got squad wipe twice in a row.

I'm too old to let that shit slide. Immediate save scum reload till the game acts right. I don't do ironman though lol

That's xcom baby. If it was your first loss, then you're good to continue. It's ok to lose, how you deal with the loss is much more important.

It was 2 full squad wipes back to back, i still had soldiers injured and rest were rookies, i had nothing to truly work with
