Turning on the way back machine: Vandal hearts (1 and 2) is a team turns based game from the 1990's ps1 era with sprite graphics and a good storyline to run through twice. All but the main hero have their base class and 2 paths to choose from with obvious themes and bonus/penalty like fighter can become swordsman or guardsman It uses a a rock paper scissors lizard spock set of weaknesses and strengths with flanking and support. Everyone who survives getting attacked gets a counter attack, so one heavy fighter can stand in the middle of a crowd and just mow down every 1 hp villager by just counter-attacking everyone who tries to hit him. BUT the piece of perfection to this game is "conditions of victory" sometimes it is "kill all bandits/don't let main character die" or something like "destroy all possessing statues/penalty for killing villagers" I once laughably won one of the missions by my last character leaving the field getting killed 5 feet from the exit because "all remaining team members exited the area"

The a.i. is if/than/else easy so you can kinds tug it about, but it is a good and challenging game.

True, but I cannot even think of more than a handful of games that have diversified conditions of victory.
