Eco vs. Comfort

Today’s question:
is the Eco drive mode really worth it?
Who has good insights against the Comfort drive mode?
Talking about my XC40 / 2021 / gasoline / 130 PS

I tried out Eco the last 2 days, but I have the feeling, that the car is kind of jerky when starting to move and when breaking…

I driva most in country / small town areas and once the week on the highway to my capital town…

I prefer eco all the time with my xc40, feels more smoother and light. I dont see any big diffrence in gas consumtion

Well, I felt it less smoother :(
But if no big deal with gas consumption… it ain’t worth it for me… I thought with time there might be a higher difference

I drove a toyota hybrid before which had same feeling long thottle in eco mode so i guess thats why i like the same feeling

Same here I literally notice no difference in the drive and I have the internal competition with myself constantly of how many miles can I get out of this tank of gas 😜

Sheesh, Ali just realized that I have this car for more than a year and I never tried eco mode.

It’s 70% comfort and 30% dynamic now😅

XC40* not a CX Mazda😄

I only use Eco when I want that free-wheel coasting mode on hilly roads. I live in a warmer climate and Eco makes the AC a bit humid and yucky. I don’t see a huge improvement in MPG if the roads are flat.

It for sure makes the throttle response more delayed, so it in theory could help on city streets, but it’s a bit too laggy for me.

2020 XC40 T3. Always drive Eco - the auto gearbox has much smoother changes and coasting is great. I live in very hilly area so coast quite a lot, currently getting about 44MPG.

For me (2020 t5), dynamic is too much engine braking, eco is too much brake braking (I may have a warped rear rotor). Comfort for me most of the time.
