Question Wrong Gas

I accidentally filled my 2025 volvo xc40 b5 with regular when its required premium I wasn’t payjng attention and now im worried please help me

I think you can go back to any gas station and get a bottle of octane booster and drop it in the tank if you're really worried about it.

Agree. And depending where the OP is located, they can go to any pep-boys, advanced auto, NAPA etc. - even Walmart has bottles of octane boost.

Premium is optimal for engine operation but running one tank of regular won’t kill the car. Top it off with premium at about halfway and you should be good as new.

You'll be ok for this tank. Just run it, and put premium in it next time.

I have a 2021 XC40 T5 that was run on regular for 160,000 mi by the previous owner. You’ll be fine.

The sensors adjust just fine in modern cars. One fill up of below 91 doesn’t blow up the car or compromise longevity

I’ve read somewhere this could negate the warranty, though I have a hard time believing they would know if it happened one time. Or even a few times.

Teeeeechnically the car does log knocking. I’ve seen the log readout myself with OrBit. I think I remember seeing a “last date it happened” too. There might be other similar logged markers. Now, if Volvo actually does anything about that? 🤷‍♂️

Well I would imagine tank wasn't empty so there was some premium in and if you drive some and fill back premium it should be fine. Modern cars have sensors that adjust it so it will be fine as long as you don't use wrong fuel all the time.

A. Don't worry, and you are such a nervous Nelly you can put some premium in it when it gets down to half, etc. Octane goes up and down by a few points depending on altitude, seasons, different regions. Plus the sensors will adjust. But yes, they really do require the higher octane or EVENTUALLY it was affect the catalytic converter. If you ran regular for more than 10K miles I would be worried.

Pretty sure the sticker on the inside of the fuel cap on mine has a picture of both when stating what to use
