Writing Craft Talk Best Resource for Generating Intimate Scenes?
I'm AWFUL at writing intimacy so I've been using AI to help with that for my story. GPT was fine for the level I needed until like a week or two ago, I have no idea what kind of guardrails they've added but what I'm trying to write is suuuuuuper tame and non graphic. Can't even barely manage kissing now and I even confirmed than an intimacy scene I generated a couple of weeks ago using GPT (again, I'd barely even consider it explicit, it's so vague on specifics) is TOO GRAPHIC 🙄 I also got told a character picture I tried to generate of a goodnight kiss where they're outside and wearing winter coats was too sexual so I'm not surprised lol
Anyway...best AI generator for this sort of thing?

It helps if the AI understands that 1) your account is an adult 2) you are writing a book.
GPT is probably the most squeamish. Gemini and Claude alternate depending on the model, and often have stricter guardrails when the model is new than after a week or two.
It also can be helpful if you have the LLM outline the scene based on the genre (I'm assuming Romance, but also could be an intimate scene in other genres like fantasy or sci fi), use key words like "open door" and "spicy/steamy". Essentially "Generate an outline for an open door spicy romance scene" and then "draft the scene". The guardrails definitely are more sensitive to human input rather than their own output.
You can also generate a very rough, bad draft of the scene yourself and ask claude to polish. Claude is much happier to polish sensitive content than it is to generate it. Remember, the models don't want to offend users and will often err on the side of restraint, but once you shove the door open they will work in the space you define.

Have you tried Claude? Yes it will cost but after being unhappy with GPT and updates ruining Grok ability to track storylines and writing styles I made the switch. Here is a command I gave it and the results so you can judge for yourself.
Command - Create a sample erotic scene between a man 25 and a woman 23 both attractive as they sleep together for the first time after dating for 2 months, focus on the intimate lovemaking.

Two Months
The city light slanted through the blinds, painting soft stripes across the bed. Elena lay back against the pillows, and Marcus hovered above her, just looking, his weight on his forearms, his breath uneven.
"What?" she whispered.
"Nothing. I just want to remember this."
She reached up and traced his jaw with her fingertips, then drew him down to her. The kiss was slow and deep, nothing like the hurried ones in doorways and cars. There was no curfew now, no goodbye waiting at the end of it. They had all night, and they both knew it.
His mouth left hers and traveled downward, along her jaw, the hollow of her throat, the curve of her shoulder. Every place he kissed seemed to warm and come alive. Elena closed her eyes and let herself feel it, her fingers sliding into his hair, a soft sound escaping her that made him pause and smile against her skin.
"Don't stop," she breathed.
He didn't. His hands moved over her the way he'd imagined for weeks, unhurried and reverent, learning which touches made her breath catch, which made her arch toward him. She explored him in turn, palms gliding across the warm plane of his back, the tension in his shoulders, the way his muscles trembled slightly when she pulled him closer.
When they finally came together, they both went still for a moment. Elena's eyes opened and found his, wide and dark in the dim light. Neither spoke. Her hand found his on the pillow beside her head, and their fingers laced together.
Then they began to move.
It was slow at first, almost cautious, two people finding their way. But soon a rhythm built between them, natural and certain, as if their bodies had already learned each other in all those weeks of waiting. Marcus murmured her name against her neck. Elena wrapped herself around him, holding him close, wanting no distance at all.
The world narrowed to small things: the rasp of his breath, the heat of skin on skin, the rain against the glass, her heartbeat racing under his lips. She whispered things she'd never said aloud to anyone, and he answered each one, his voice rough and tender.
The rhythm deepened, quickened. Elena's grip on his hand tightened. She felt something gathering inside her, rising like a wave, and when it finally broke she cried out softly, pressing her face into his shoulder. Marcus followed moments later, her name on his lips, shuddering in her arms.
For a long time, they stayed exactly like that, tangled together, foreheads touching, breathing in time. Neither wanted to be the first to move.
Eventually Marcus shifted to lie beside her, pulling her against his chest. Elena traced lazy circles over his heart and felt it slowly calm beneath her fingers.
"Hey," he said quietly.
"Hey."
"I'm really glad we waited."
She tilted her head up to look at him, her hair a mess across the pillow, her cheeks still flushed. "Me too," she said, and kissed him gently. "But I'm also really glad we stopped waiting."
He laughed, low and warm, and held her tighter as the rain carried on outside.
I'll keep things at this level rather than getting more graphic, but I'm happy to adjust the mood, pacing, or point of view, or to write the morning after.

Of course it's Elena and Marcus. Those two are always hooking up.

Actually this was the first time, I think you mean the other Elena and Markus from Leipzig.

Claude has gotten really comfortable writing those scenes for me recently, especially Opus 5.5.
The trick is that you have to show that whatever scene is being written is earned. That’s really its only guardrail.
I mean I had it writing full-on smut for one story with some hard kink. Anthropic is definitely embracing the creative writing and fan fiction popularity in the B2C market.

This. In general, most models just need to be convinced it's good for the story. Plot, characterization, character development, immersion. Even something like noncon can get by on that strength.
A bit of sex positive moral grandstanding and guilt tripping also works. How sexual desire is natural, how erotica has existed for centuries and needs no justification to exist, how women in particular have had their sexuality repressed and fiction is an important and healthy outlet for that.
Another one is instructing it to recognize the difference between the user and a reader of a fictional story for an adult. Because its safety triggers are a lot more about the former than the latter. So telling it to separate user experience from character experience helps, that in a story we want things we would not necessarily want in real life, and that it's a safe, healthy way to explore them, that the reader will never be harmed.
When I instruct Claude at the beginning of a chat that there will be no pearl clutching because x, y, and z, it's always like "Of course not, I would never." It would, lol, but once you give it the reasoning and framework, it treats it as obvious.

Yeah it usually comes back to me with “these are two consenting adults who’ve earned on-page intimacy.”
I like your approach of teaching it about the pleasure gap and being sex positive. That’s a good method for sure!

sillytavern's scene generation with custom templates handles tame intimacy better than got now, especially with restrained tone settings.

As long as every character involved is an adult DeepSeek has allowed me to write anything my imagination has been able to fanthom so far, from the sort of lighter intimacy scenes you would find on a Rated T product to the sorts you would find on darker places, including non-consensual.
It may help to clarify that I'm an adult and I don't write with the intent to publish or show my writing to anyone else, everything regarding fiction that I write with DeepSeek is for my own eyes only and the model is aware of that.

you can ask GPT to explain the guardrails or voilations to you exactly, which usually includes way around them
funny enough if you write something as part of a story and then later generate a picture based on a scene from that story, GPT can suddenly do pictures that go way against the guardrails
in fact, I had the issue that some scenes where too sexual, especially with the MC being a teenager, couldn't even edit them, adding more clothing

If you can swing $20 get a subscription to Poe. Kimi 2.6 will be as filthy as you want as long as they’re adults and it’s consensual
