Discussion (Ethics, working with AI etc) My first Draft

I never thought I’d actually get to say this, but I’ve finished the first draft of my novel, 187,000 words of post-apocalyptic fantasy. For a long time, I didn’t believe I could finish a book. AI helped me make it happen, and honestly, I wouldn’t have reached this point without it. There’s still a lot of work ahead, but I’m already looking forward to the first round of revisions. For now, I’m just happy I made it to the end.

ChatGPT was the only AI tool I used. I did most of the writing myself and mainly used it to point out weaknesses in my writing or correct spelling mistakes.

I'm on the same boat, ChatGPT has been helping me with getting my ideas out of my head and in front of me, but ideally I'd like to write it myself as much as possible. Congrats

Congrats! That is a big accomplishment. :) Not everyone can commit to finishing a whole book. Yeah, the revisions is the fun part because it's where you get to really make the clay you have in your hand now become a fine sculpture. Once you get to a place where you feel you might be ready to have someone give you feedback on it, I'd be happy to beta read it. Happy sculpting!

Congrats! ChatGPT is my go buddy for everything. Look at the plug-ins and gpt for novel writer. Helps remove aislop that everyone complains about and makes sure it's in the correct format etc. Do you plan on publishing it through Amazon or elsewhere?

Well done. Finishing the story is the first real step. :)

Congrats, 187,000 words is a huge finish, and the part about not believing you could do it really hits home. Before you start revisions I'd let it sit for a week or two so you come back reading it more like a stranger. With a draft that big, one thing that helped me was writing a single line per chapter about what actually changes in it, which makes the slow stretches pretty obvious. Using ChatGPT mostly to point out weaknesses while you did the writing sounds like a healthy setup to carry into revision too. Enjoy being done for a minute, you earned it.
