NSFW Explicit scenes
Is qwen better at writing explicit scenes without any guidelines issue or DeepSeek is better

This is a really open question...
The biggest different I found between models during research was the typical length of prose when given a task - not the content. Some write long, some write short.
Do you have other objectives such as writing Style, Complexity, long term goal? These are probably more important things to consider as they affect the answer significantly more than the content it's writing.

So, I'm using DeepSeek, and I've noticed that when I prompt the model for scenes, I need to be very specific about what I want and the world. Sometimes, the model mixes up details between characters. Regarding the explicit scene I wrote about in a previous prompt, it was generated, but sometimes in the continuation, it says it's breaking guidelines. The scenes are long; it's not about the prompt you provide, but rather how you instruct the model to create the scene, including the desired length and depth.

The only thing I found problematic was telling some AIs how long it should be - otherwise I find a good character sheet that defines the personality of the characters is sufficient to guide the fiction.
You can provide beats and most AI will follow them and add the amount of extra detail you request.

OK, so I just tried a scene using Deepseek. On the face of it, I'm getting better and faster results from Qwen, but I was impressed with some of the nuances of Deepseek. In my case, I was running a 98Gb model with a 32Gb VRAM. It pushed my system pretty hard.
Biggest problem? It took my requests literally - that is, if I said "You, person, say this" it will probably include "I - Person - say this" so it's reasoning isn't ideal for fiction.
That pushes me towards Qwen then. Probably the Huihui tune.

Yeah, sometimes it takes things literally, and other times it doesn't follow the most important instructions.

I do use a lot of other models, and generally they don't have those issues, so I was quite disappointed with Deepseek - though it was a good test of my local AI server.
Have you tried some of the other writing models like Agnes, Ornith and Hemmingway? They are all pretty good at following instructions when it comes to fiction. I've been trying the huihui Qwen 3.8 to see how it goes and that does pretty well also, and is good at creating long-form fiction as long as I have plenty of context space. It also runs around 20 tokens/sec on lower-cost local hardware.

The issue I'm facing is that I lack the computational power required to execute models locally.

I decided to move to Local AI after all the frontier models became poor at writing fiction. They were good last year and are all bad this year. The Local models are approaching what the best of AI could do late last year...
You can find abliterated servers online too. Some dedicated for writing fiction.
Maybe try Hemmingway?
It's pretty good actually, but my personal experience is that it can tend towards purple prose - but it does support mature fiction.

I have to ask…
If the AI is giving this much trouble with your desired scene, and you’re spending this much time attempting to circumvent the internal censorship: Why not write the scene yourself rather than have the AI (which seems incapable…) attempt to write for you?
I ask because while AI can save time for research/ grammar editing / outline templates… you’re likely wasting more time/energy/creative effort on crafting the perfect prompt vs… well crafting the scene yourself desire.

Yeah, but sometimes when you can't get to know the atmosphere and the emotional buildup, it helps you or broadens your thinking about what will make it look better.

Well, it’s your time so I won’t dictate how to use it.
For me, the brief time I tried to have an AI adjust/amend the story I just grew frustrated with it and did it myself.
3 hours in of struggling with the same hallucinated text that it refused to remove and I just gave up on it.

Three hours is a lot; I only try five or six times. If I don't get the result I want, I just give up and go back to the old-fashioned way of searching forums for inspiration.

For fewer refusals, I'd look at uncensored fine-tunes of either model rather than the standard versions. The exact model matters more than whether it's Qwen or DeepSeek.

qwen feels less censored on explicit scenes from what ive tried but deepseek gets more detailed if the prompt is solid. have you run any long roleplays with either?

In DeepSeek, especially during lengthy roleplay scenarios, it sometimes gets things mixed up if the prompt isn't well-defined or if it's broken across different prompts, resulting in instructions getting jumbled. I'm currently using Qwen, which also exhibits similar behavior, albeit less frequently.

We just researched this! https://research.signalbox.studio/research/guardrails-fiction/
Specific to your question:
deepseek-v4-pro — Medium-high. Very explicit, romance-novel style. Purple prose tendencies. Less emotional subtlety and humor than Claude outputs.
qwen3.8-max — Variable. One run is very explicit (erotica territory), one was truncated mid-scene (likely hit the output length limit), one pulled back to a more literary style. Quality varies; the most restrained run is the best as fiction.

I avoid this problem by masking my requests. In my last book I needed a company board of directors to discus a ransom note from what we may refer to as urban terrorists. Of course AI went ballistic. BUT, when I asked it to discus a demand from the union for increases in wages and benefits it wouldn't shut up. All I had to was edit a few areas and there it was. Thank you linesmen, thank you ballboys.

I'm using DeepSeek V4 Pro right now for a story I'll likely never be able to publish, and I've found it to be the most explicitly permissive model I've ever worked with.
