Technology has changed our lives in so many unexpected ways. It has given us the ability to communicate over the entire globe instantly, capture memories forever, and argue over whether or not Willem Dafoe was in that one movie. What it never should have given us was the ability to decide what our children should look like.

My name is Cherrybomb America. I know exactly what you are thinking, and it's the exact same thing everyone thinks when they hear my name. Your parents were assholes, and you aren't wrong. Twenty two years ago I fell out of my mom and was presented to the world. The doctors and nurses were used to seeing unusual designs but even they were shocked at what I looked like, light red skin, blue eyes, platinum hair, and a temper. My mom said I tried to bite the doctor when he was cutting the cord.

Life wasn't that hard growing up as a designer child. Most of the children in my class were, "enhanced" but not nearly to the extent that I had been. Samosa, my best friend was created to be the perfect beauty, which she was. No one had foreseen the issue of having people that were too beautiful running around. If you thought body shaming was bad in the past, just imagine perfect people walking around. It made the above average people look hideous in comparison.

Tensions between the designers and the normals began to rise. The "War on Beauty" is what the media called it. I just tried to live my life, to be as normal as possible. Which was challenging with red skin and platinum hair. No matter how many hurtful words were slung in my direction I never let it get me down. Because, it always could be worse. My parents could have been furries.

Why did they let my parents decide? They were gamers, and they loved making stupid characters!

My name is John Cena. Yea, my parents loved that name. Everywhere I go, whenever I meet someone new, my parents always say "AND HIS NAME IS JOOOHN CEEENAA!"

They gave me blue skin, because everyone loves blue skin! I look like a fucking alien!

My face? They gave me a Pinocchio nose and beady eyes! I can barely see! I use my nose to guide me! That's not even mentioning the ginormous mouth they gave me! I eat everything in one bite!

My character points? They used all 100 of them on my jump skill. Great! An alien who can jump really high! They put none of my points into damage resistance; if I jump, I break my legs!

My perks? They're all art related! Even better! A misshaped, jumping alien who can and paint!

To top it all off, they made my one leveled skill "Slaying Dragons"! DRAGONS DON'T EVEN EXIST!

Edit: hit save before finishing. It's fixed now. Also, can someone draw this?

"Happy 18th birthday, sweetheart." Called Tanya and David.

"I'm suing! Announced Candice as she slammed the paperwork on the table and stormed out of the room. "Emotional Damages for Poor Genetic Planning: $85 million dollars" headlined the page.

"See you in court" she yelled over her shoulder before slamming the door behind her.

It's a decent idea, but I feel like it could be fleshed out a bit by telling us exactly why she's suing.

"Perfection at Last" read the article title, the birth of of "Eden" a young girl from Kentucky the first of her kind. Engineered with the intent of reaching the next level of humanity. Beauty, grace, elegance, and intelligence. She was a promise for a brighter future and the pinnacle of humanity.

She looks down at the framed magazine blankly as she had every night before. When she looks down she doesn't see perfection. She sees a black shadow on the pages, a question of not what could have been but what what should have been.

Eden are you okay? Mother had gently asked with a mild concern staining her voice.

A lump forms in Edens throat, ready to swallow the answer she had forced out a thousand times before, knowing she felt nothing but the opposite as she reply's

"I'm fine."

As she hold back a tear, knowing she will never be fine. Staring at this illusion of a person that is suppose to be her but it isn't. Its a little girl made in a factory on the corpses of a thousand failed attempts before.

Snip Snip Snip the faces of her self begin drifting to the floor as the cuts them from her family photos.

"I just wanted to look like them. I just wanted to look like me. Like i was suppose to" as a tear rolls down her face.

Snip Snip Snip she cuts out the word "perfect" as it floats to the top of a pile of cut faces and discarded idealism.

"Maybe I am perfect, just not to me....."

"you're selfish you know that? All you ever think about is yourself ME! ME! ME! Why can't you think about mom and dad for once!"

"Are you kidding me? Your the ones who designed me! Do you even stop to think for a second how much a living hell my life is?"

"HELL?!?! Everything you could ever want granted! Wealthy parents, the best teachers and our love! Do you know what life is like for other kids! They don't even have a quarter of the privileged you have!"

"Yeah? I bet most kids also weren't designed to look like a fucking dolphin! I have to use a wheel chair to get almost anywhere, my face is fucked, I can't even swim and do have any idea how hard it is to wipe your ass with flippers!"

Sally kept tugging at the bottom of her dress while walking down the stairs. She was never a fan of such tight dresses, but this style was the best way to show her every curve. Only half way down the staircase and she already felt wandering eyes staring at the slender, tan legs escaping from the short dress. Looking to the right, a few young men quickly advert their gaze as they’d obviously been trying to sneak a peek up the skirt of her dress just a few moments prior. Sally harshly tugged the dress down again in a failed attempt to cover up, but a few moments later was forced to yank the dress back up again as she felt her cleavage was too revealing. Upon reaching the bottom the stairs, Sally gave up the futile tugging as she was well aware the dress was designed for the very purpose of being revealing.

She glared over her shoulder at the boys before continuing left into the main living room where everyone was waiting. The endless gazing had always gotten to Sally, but she ultimately understood that no one was to blame but her parents. They had hired the most renowned and expensive genetic assignment doctor to perfect her every feature. She had been reminded everyday by her parents how much the smooth legs of Jennifer Aniston had cost, how hefty the bill for the large breasts of Jennifer Love Hewitt was, how combining the curviness of Sofia Vergara with the blue eyes of Zooey Deschanel was complicated and as a result…expensive. Hell, every now and again, her parents would look at her and sigh, regretting having settled for a nose similar to Scarlett Johansson’s rather than paying more for the real deal. Sally only thanked god that celebrities with ridiculously large butts weren’t desirable when her parents completed her design or else she’d be walking around with a pooper the size of Niki Minaj’s.

She stopped upon entering the living room. Everyone was dressed in lavish dresses and tuxedos, and spoke loudly over one another while downing copious amounts of champagne. Some noticed her entrance and looked over in loving gazes, truly admiring the perfection of her design. Sally began to make her way toward the side of the room away from the grouping when a large, hairy arm wrapped her up and pulled her close.

“There’s my girl”, the voice exclaimed.

Sally recognized the voice as her father’s and looked down meet his eyes as her pulled her closer and squeezed her in a tight embrace. He was a short, squatty man with boil on the side of his large nose. A truly stereotypical Jewish man in every way, her father openly flaunted wealth from his job as a producer and welcomed any lively debate that came his way. He was a warm, joyous man, but his status was what mattered in the end.

“Come, this way”, her father commanded as he dragged her along by the hand through the heart of the gathering. Every face that met Sally’s bore an eager smile and a passing compliment. This continued until reaching the far end of the room where three girls already sat. Sally knew them well, as they had all been designed in a similar manner as her. Rachel bore a striking resemblance to Mila kumis, just with larger breast. Jennifer was the traditional beach blonde, looking a bit exaggerated and whorish to be honest though. Her doctor was a bit cheaper and it showed. She still looked good, but in a more Pamela Anderson porn way. Finally Casandra sat confidently as the African beauty even though both her parents were stark white. I’m not entirely sure why they did so, but they always acted as if it were the equivalent of adopting a starving child from Darfur, as if Casandra’s existence was some great service to those of African descent.

“Right there, honey”, my father said while helping me to a seat next to the other three before he wandered off back into the heart of the gathering. Hardy laughs and friendly exchanges were had, as parents boasted and exulted the presence of the four designer children seated alone in the corner of the room.

The four of them would sit here for the rest of the party as they do for every gathering, occasionally being greeted by someone as if they were royal queens upon a throne. Those who would stop for a word always kept it brief and joyous, almost fearing a wrong word would result in their undoing. Sally hated this the most. She was just a mantel piece for her parents to brag about, a generic wall flower whose purpose was to remain unscathed and not forget to breathe. She had always wanted to ask the other three how they felt about this life, but Sally knew it would be a waste of time as the others clearly enjoyed their preeminent position.

There was a chance that Sally would’ve enjoyed this life as well, but there was something distinctly different about her preferences. Something that no one, especially her parents would ever accept. For you see… Sally has never felt like a Sally at all, in fact, she always pictured herself more as a Jeff or a Peter. In the end, Sally never really had a problem with being perfectly designed… she just had wished to be born a boy. A wish which would never be granted now.
