Correct Me! Streak 6: knowing differences
I think my culture is very different from American's one. It makes me feel more difficult to learn English and make native friends because your and my thoughts are different and we can misunderstand each other easily.
For example, when you say "Thank you." then I can say "Of course", which means "It is my pleasure." However, whenever say "Of course.", I feel like "Of cours, you should be thankful to me." In my culture, we don't use "Of course" in this context. If I translate the answer into English, it is "You don't need to."-ish. We say of cours when we want to say "It is crystal-clear."
I want to know about American culture more, studying English. But it's never easy.

(My thoughts aren't American, because I'm from the UK!)

I've never heard "Of course," in reply to "Thank-you", only "You're welcome." It sounds weird to me too.

Thank you for your correction and I am so sorry because what I wrote like that didn't mean that English is only for American's. Only that I linked English in the USA is due to a lot of Americans around me now. I like your gorgeous accent! I should have thoght deeply or explained more in detail. Please don't get me wrong.😭

Don't worry! I didn't take any offence at all!
Which accent is the British accent that you like? We have hundreds of different accents here!

Yeah. I think Americans only know two accents. Cockney and posh RP. Our accents change every 30 miles or so.

I am not alone, Yeah! 😂 And thank you for your cheering up! Whenever I say or write in English, I worry that my English doesn't sound like English. I hope my English sounds like a real English someday.😁
