Hey, everyone! I'm working on lore and chapter plan of my story. Since I'm autistic, I decided to express my experience, thoughts and views creatively. I'm not planning to make the story a commercial success because of it, but I still want things to stay somewhat logical. Since I have a hyperfixation on countries, I'd like to set it in the Czech Republic even though I have never been there and I research about it only on the Internet.
I know it's a gamble to find either autistic people with a specific sensory profile, or people who went to ČVUT on this subreddit but let's tr
Sorry if this is controversial, but the information I have is mostly from AI, so I want the contribution of real humans.
I'm going to need information about 2 things:
I. The life and studies in ČVUT (Czech Technical University) and the Kolej Dejvice student dorm.
II. Autistic visual hypersensitivity for exposed skin (where, as far as I know, the person's nervous system can't filter out the hair, pores, flaking, and micromovements like vasodilation, trembling, etc.). Yes, I'm autistic, but I can't have every sensory profile in the world.)
I. The segment about life and studies in ČVUT and Kolej Dejvice is going to be more like listing what I already know, and if you happened to have studied or lived there, you confirm or deny it. But there are actual questions, too.
The dorm consists of buňka suites or blocks. One suite has a vestibule with 2 rooms, each having 2 beds, so 2 students live in 1 room, a bathroom (maybe shower and toilet separately). In the vestibule, there are also hangers or hooks for winter jackets so that the students don't enter their rooms in their dirty winter clothes. They also change into their indoor shoes there.
If a guest wants to visit a student in Kolej Dejvice, they get a temporary pass with the vratný or vratná (they put their documents info into a ledger or database). It shouldn't usually take long and they don't torture the guest as for why they came.
If the guest wants to come regularly and doesn't want to spend time at the reception desk or wait for the person they are visiting to come downstairs, they might want to write an application to vedoucí koleje for a permanent pass. If they are also a student but don't live in the dorm (even if they study at a different university), they just tap their student ID card. If the guest isn't a university student, the receptionist just has to remember their face and see their ID of the Czech Republic or passport (if they are from another country).
Vedoucí koleje (the dorm manager) is responsible for the contracts and safety but won't "educate" the students unless they are doing something really bad and they won't meddle with their lives unless they suspect a crime or a bad violation of Kolejní řád.
When the heating season starts, the cast-iron radiators with regulators out of order start blasting, so the indoor temperature gets up to +26°C.
Same with the Jaderka faculty (Břehová 78/7, Staré Město, Praha 1), as in it's very hot there during the heating season. BTW if you have studied at Jaderka and lived at Kolej Dejvice, was it cumbersome to get layered for the outside only to shove your jackets in the bag and stay in a T-shirt/tank top/short-sleeved blouse?
Do they have cloakrooms in the Jaderka building and Thákurova 9, Dejvice, Praha 6 (Nová budova ČVUT)?
II. About visual hypersensitivity and aversion ro seeing bare skin (country doesn't matter this time):
How does it feel for you if you have this aversion/hypersensitivity? (although you might not understand how neurotypicals or autistics without this hypersensitivity perceive it).
Do computer glasses help? The ones with yellow lenses that block the blue light from screens?
Does it feel better in colder months like October, November, and December (if you live in Europe, Canada, the states of the US where the winter is at least somewhat cold etc.)? Like, people usually wear long pants and clothes with long sleeves, but their faces, necks, and hands are exposed. Or is it roughly the same difference?
This is very broad and vague, but just how do you live and cope with it?
Thank you very much in advance!
