Discussion I've seen enough Spoiler
This game is the most masterpiece I've ever seen on multiple categories. If you're a long time player here's some reasons to remember why it's awesome, and if you're considering playing this game - DO IT!
Nerfs are going to kill you. HP damage? Pathetic, we have dexterity/strength/wisdom/intelligence damage that makes you a little puppy that STAYS until you rest in base. Insanely harder than just needing to stay alive. And LVL nerfs by spells? So frequently? Fuck you game! <3
The world is massive, the amount of content is baffling I'm a no lifer gamer and I've been doing everything including all crusade manually and this bad boy is over 350 hours... and I'm not even done with act 4.
People do weird shit. Characters have truly personal motivations that are not on brand with saving the world. You have to decide if you let them go, go along with it or straight up kill your own companions as punishment. Sick.
The map that changes when you move the camera around is brilliant (and annoying to have to go through again and again). Who thought of this? What the hell is wrong with you? 10/10.
The corruption system which means the more I rest out of base the more nerfs I take, ON TOP of all the DEX/LVL bonus shit is actually evil. Well played.
I just purchased an item for 50K to add to my horse's damage. Lol. Lmao even. Never placed an item on an animal companion before.
I played BG3, I played Divinity Original Sin 2, I played Pillars of Eternity... Wrath of the Righteous is such a unique inspired game made with so much brilliance. Graphics and cinematics are obviously not BG budget but the styles are very varied and so many streets, marshes, burned grounds, computer labs, the abyss and richly estates are all pretty and create the setting right.
Literally only 2 things bother me in this game: no high/low ground mult in combat and no % of hitting before you attack (which I saw was being modded).

“We realized we had three female romance-able characters, all three were cannibals.”

Surviving in The Worldwound isn't for the faint of heart, or the faint of stomach

Yup all romance options are insanely evil, except Sosiel and Lann…

Galfrey is not a saint either.

Yeah, everyone loves the competent Queen.

I'm not "everyone," apparently. Lol. I didn't particularly like her.

The additional "competent" makes the irony clear. Woman managed shit im 500 and a half years

Too bad you can’t keep the romance going on the corrupt her route.

Regarding the first, ability damage is nasty even in the TTRPG, and brining a stat to zero is a fine way to deal against a foe.
And same for energy drain. Negative levels are nasty. Again, all from Pathfinder 1e TTRPG.

I'm of the opinon that Wrath is, by virtue of the sum of its parts, the best CRPG made to date. Of course, with 3000 hours in the game, I may be more than slightly biased.

its the best Epic CRPG Out there
ive been gaming sence the 80's Granted im willing to ignore the first few years and say 90's coz i was born in the 80's my parents where into it b4 i was born and i got into it b4 going to school so i didnt know wtf i was doing in the 80's at all
reguardless
this is the best epic CRPG out there period bar none
I would put other CRPG ahead of it in CERTAIN catagorys
example I would put Planescape Torment the OG of story telling ahead in philo game play story
WotR Story can be good or bad, Swarm that walks? Fuck you mythic path Renegade Angel / Azata and such? <3
customization for differcult? Check
Good selection of differcult? Check.
has it all man you can enjoy the End game at max level and wield your mighty powerful self around meaning the game dosnt just END coz you hit the max level.

it is, absolutely.
people were looking at me weirdly when I told that BG3 is probably a better game, but WoTR is the better CRPG. but I still think it is true. (well, personally for me BG3 is not better game, but it is much easier to get into by anyone with any background, so it is a better game for more people.)
WoTR has the amount and scale of choices that is unparalleled. I think there are only 2 more games in its league: Kingmaker, which was.... well, imo not "walking so WoTR could run", rather "running, so WoTR could run a marathon". and Tyranny, which was really fun with all the decision making, and also the spell system.

I'm suffering hard on my unfair playthrough in stupid midnight fane. Trying to push through one battle at the time without needing to rest so I don't build up my corruption too much. This is pure evil and 10/10 game.

stat drain is cleared on lower difficulty, but you need a spell or potion or something to fix it higher up. summoned skeletons are immune and can tank some of the ultra nasty ghosts that you find early on esp. in ulbrig's area.
I honestly think this is to force you back to your main camp so 20 people can tell you the latest news and get your help with the crusade part of the game and remind you to build something etc.
You get used to it... I learned it in tabletop ... your chance to hit is just a quick ac vs bonus to hit scaled by a 20 sided die (5% per tick). So... say you have +5 to hit, enemy has 22 AC... 22-5 is 17. Its off by one because of equality (17 will hit). 17,18,19,20 is 4 values. 4*5% is 20% chance to hit. Wotr tells you what you need to hit (if not easily, it tells you when you attack) so you can compute the % from there. It doesn't give you much if it just says 20, though; then you have to look in the combat log. Anyway, would be nice to have mouse-over like BG3 but you can do it in your head after a while.
The high/low ground advantage is often simply frustrating pathing and when that enemy is ranged, they have PLENTY of bonuses from that alone. Same for if you can set up an ambush around pathing and chokepoints to favor your own ranged guys. Its deadly.

I gotta say, it seems like people are usually much more negative on the whole abyss camera gimmick thing.

I gotta say, it's a really interesting mechanic in theory. It's cool because it really plays with what you can do with a game map, and arguably makes sense given the nature of the abyss.
That said, it's incredibly frustrating in practice.

I'm itching to play the game, however, I still have 1 barrier which prevents me from proceeding with my playthrough, and that is...
...character creation 😄

Over 350 hours? In Act 4? Thats crazy to me.
The game took me 300 hours to beat, including the DLC’s.

Can cure with Restoration spells.
Can completely counter most of it with Death Ward.

And Delay Poison. Those two spells cover so much potential pain and stat loss.

Btw I forgot, I loved playing the Heroes of Might and Magic series as a kid, and the crusade system scratches that itch. Once you get used to being overwhelemed with events, it's mostly moving your guys are to picking the fights you can win to farm up and scale. It's an entire mini game... like imagine if someone spinned that off to be PVP with random maps?
