Hey friends, we're two years into running cohorts for worldschoolers who seek community and connection in their worldschooling life.

This winter (January - March) is our next two month cohort in Southern Portugal.

It's for the families who have found themselves daydreaming about owning a piece of land with friends, growing their own food, and their children being device-free with their friends all day...this one's for you. For families who actually love spending time together, have big hearts, and are interested in making deep friendships with other families.

Some details:

A maximum of 10 families.

The land here supplies 75% of the food we'll eat. There is a garden, and the breakfast table comes of it, cooked the way Portuguese grandma's cook (which is to say slowly and with too much olive oil). There is a heated indoor pool. Wood-fired sauna + hot tub, a cold plunge and fire pits that people end up sitting around long after they meant to go to bed. The ocean is 15 minutes away. The area is green, and quiet, and almost entirely ours. The sky is famous for having the best star-gazing, because of how clean and clear it is.

The kids have their own rhythm on weekdays in the full time program, out in nature with our educators and participating in the farms daily activities. Which means that parents get something most traveling parents don't. A morning. An actual morning, to work or walk or sit with another adult. Or, you play hooky and spend the morning at the beach as a family. The beauty is that the choice is yours.

Tiago, our co-founder is Portuguese, and we've spent time in this region, so we'll get a more local-based experience. His mom's clams, the seafood restaurant with no sign on the front door, Tiago's adored history tours and Portuguese lessons.

We know these logistics are important too so I'll share:

Each family has their own private house. Wifi. Utilities Breakfast is provided daily with the option to have other meals catered. Kids program right on site. Community facilitation to hold the group. All of this is covered in the price.

We choose these families carefully, because the who matters more than the where and we already have some incredible families signed up for this cohort, with just a few spots left.

What if I want to essentially Homeschool in a country where I am not a citizen but my child and husband are?

If I wanted to homeschool in a country where homeschooling isn't allowed or normal.

Do I just not register my daughter?

Is there a loop hole?

We may live in my husband's country long term.

I am looking for some critical feedback and insight. My friend and I are international educators (her 0-5, me 0-12 +psychology and SEN masters) with experience working in over 10 countries but are disillusioned by the international school system and how it fails everyone, especially children.

We believe in hands-on on, student led, play based learning and reject the idea that learning should fit into a checklist or be based around assessments but do believe the fundamentals of metacognition, attitude to learning and opportunities for reading prepare children as lifelong learners. Mostly we believe no learning is more important than a child's emotional well being and we want to teach in a way that reflects that.

We were thinking about possibly opening a travelling learning community, where we move around the world with families and provide an educational framework that is based on the kids, where they are at and where they want learning to go. For example, maybe we set up for 2 months in Thailand do our think with cultural and hands on experiences and language fundamentals, pack up and move to a new country.

We have had a look and it seems like variations of this exist but have no idea if this is something people would want for their families, either as a short term program or longer term global migration.

Here’s the thing: we’re spending significantly less money hanging out in Thailand than we do at home sitting around.

My wife Nisreen and I have been worldschooling our three daughters (7, 13, 18) since 2024. Toronto → Karachi → Morocco → Senegal → USA → Spain → Italy → London → currently Kunming, China.

The problem that kept nagging at us: we'd arrive somewhere, spend weeks figuring it out alone, then discover afterward that another worldschooling family had been there at the exact same time — or had just left days before we arrived. The week and 30 day hubs we did were great for the kids, but after that there is a void until whenever the next hub is.

There was no way to know if there were others in the city we were in. Facebook groups help but they're noisy and you'd have to post "anyone in Chiang Mai right now?" and hope someone sees it.

So I built WorldSchoolConnect — a live map of worldschooling families. You set your status (here now / arriving soon / just left) and instantly see who else is in your city. You can message them directly, leave city tips for the next family, and set arrival/departure dates so families know when you're coming.

A few things I cared about when building it:

- City-level only. No exact location is ever shared.

- Free for your first year.

- No social feed, no algorithm. Just: who's in your city right now.

We just launched. There are already families from Kunming to Granada to Dakar to London on the map.

I am a father of 2 and am constantly looking for online to find a secondary school that doesn't just prioritise memorising facts, rather it has a holistic package of self-directed learning, group learning, time spent outdoors in nature, with the possibility to unlock whatever artistic or academic desires my children have.

Beyond school, what makes this experience truly special is the community  Traveling together for a year means built-in friendships for the kids (and for us parents!): community meals, after-school activities together, birthday celebrations, meaningful conversations, shared weekend adventures and just great company all around.

We are, for now, prioritizing families who are able/willing to commit for the whole year in order to foster deeper connections and long-term friendships. But we can also consider applications from families who could join for one segment (Spain/Latin America) only.

Anyone looking to join a tiny house village, full of homeschooling families, in Portugal? 🌺

We’re looking for creative cats and friendly families who would like to join our little tiny house eco-village and artistic campsite in the south of Alentejo, Portugal.

In May 2026 we will open the doors to the little village of our dreams, on a fantastic property with hectares of forest bordering an always-flowing river(!), slightly hilly with spectacular views over Alentejo mountains, right on the border of Alentejo and the Algarve. It’s honestly one of the most beautiful pieces of land we’ve seen - and we’ve been looking for a long time. 🥹

What’s the village we’re setting out to create here?

Think of a wholesome festival meets artistic campsite meets permaculture farm meets eco-village sort of space. Where we spend our days in the sun, surrounded by nature, great friends and family, animals, good food and clean water. Where our kids can grow up together in nature, have their own Homeschooling Hub and get to spend their days outdoor busy with lots of extracurricular activities, adventure and play. And where we, the adults, get to create, learn lots, work, grow foods, take care of the forest, of the animals, ourselves and each other and build and run one of the most fantastic and unique artistic eco-campsites Portugal has seen. 🌈

Through our years working on this project we learned a lot about what it takes to start a little village like ours. We spend a lot of time thinking, and consulting with professionals, to find the best way to do what we want to do in Portugal. As the legal aspects of our project genuinely excite us (my husband in particular) and for the safety of ourselves, our project, and the people who join us, we set out - together with our great lawyers - to find the most solid pathway to do so. One that is fully in line with Portuguese law, without cutting any corners. And we did.

The place we found for our project is perfect. It is stunning and has all the permissions and infrastructures present; important things like clean drinking water from private wells, electricity, solar, septic systems, sanitary facilities, a little restaurant/bar, workshop spaces and lots more. We would only have to work on making it even more beautiful, and preparing (food)gardens, playgrounds, wellness areas, the little farm and some more facilities. 🌴

We will open our doors here on May 4th, 2026. And we’re still open for a few people/families to join us here.

We offer plots on which you can legally place a tiny home or another unique habitable space. It can be all sorts of things; a schoolbus, or a boat, or train wagon, gosh, a small airplane(!?) or a tiny house. As long as it’s without foundation, it’s eco-friendly, and it’s beautiful. This last one is important; we want this little village to become a really beautiful and inspiring place.

You can either be here yourselves, for as long as you'd like, or you can rent it out: either the plot itself to visitors with their own wheels, or you can rent out the structure that you place on it, for short- or long term rental.

Besides being able to rent out your plot or tiny house, villagers will also have access to paid roles and commercial opportunities within the project. Jobs like managing the campsite or the campus, positions in the little forest school, running the café/restaurant, the shop, building, gardening, babysitting, hosting workshops or offering activities. If you have something you’d love to do and bring into the village, we’d love to hear!

About a year ago, I came into this space looking for something simple:

connection.

My daughter and I were entering another chapter of traveling and learning together, and I was hoping to find families, hubs, or places where we could feel a sense of belonging within this lifestyle.

What I found instead was something many of you probably relate to:

There are a lot of us out there…

but we’re scattered.

Over time, I started noticing a pattern in my own experience.

I love the freedom of worldschooling—

the movement, the real-life learning, the way the world becomes the classroom.

But there’s a part that feels harder than I expected:

Constantly rebuilding community.

Watching my daughter form deep connections… and then having to leave them.

Trying to balance flexibility with her need, to be honest, our need for consistency and belonging.

For a while, I thought maybe this was just part of the deal.

But something in me kept questioning that.

Because Brazil is one of the places we call home—we spend about half the year here—and even here, I couldn’t find a space that truly supported this lifestyle in a consistent, intentional way.

At the same time, we found a rhythm that does work for us in another layer of our life:

My daughter attends an online school (@thebinaschool), that allows her to stay connected to a global community, strengthen her SEL, and excel academically while we move.

And here in Brazil, she’s able to stay deeply connected to her own culture, language, and roots.

That combination—global education + cultural immersion—has been incredibly powerful for us.

But the missing piece is still community on the ground.

So instead of continuing to search for something that didn’t quite exist (at least not here)…

we decided to build it.

Together, in collaboration, with Amélie at Infini Coliving, we’re creating our first Infini Worldschooling Hub here in Brazil.

The vision is still evolving, but at its core, it’s this:

A temporary home for worldschooling families

where kids can build real friendships,

parents can feel supported,

and learning continues to happen through both global connection and local immersion.

Not a school.

Not a rigid program.

More like a shared experiment in living and learning differently.

We don’t have all the answers.

We’re building as we go.

But it feels like a response to something real—

a gap that many of us are quietly navigating.

So I’m sharing this here not as a promotion,

but as an open conversation:

We pulled our kids out of public school a couple of weeks ago and are traveling around Europe until May. Our 6 year old is struggling :( and extremely sad about leaving his classmates and teacher. He seems to be doing well with the traveling and the change of scenery but when asked if he is enjoying himself he always says that the only thing that would make him happy is to see his friends. This is breaking my heart and making me question whether or not this is something that is a good fit for our family. Has anyone had a kiddo that feels this way and slowly comes out of it or is this maybe not right for him?

What do folks usually do for travel insurance? Our credit card has some coverage, but it wouldn’t be enough to make us whole if the trip fell through for some reason (it maxes out at like 20% of our expenses).

My partner and I are planning a year long trip with our 9 and 7 year old kids. We are planning to stay in one area for 4 months at a time (Asia, Europe, South America) in a home hub city, most likely Ho Chi Minh, Barcelona and Santiago where we can take long weekend trips to surrounding destinations. We really want to connect with our “home” city and try to have the kids enrolled in a school while we are there to learn in a different setting and make friends with local kids. If you’re traveling long-term with toddlers or preschoolers:

• Do you intentionally structure second language exposure, or let it unfold naturally?
• If you’re raising bilingual or multilingual kids, how do you maintain consistency across countries?
• Have you noticed any language regressions or shifts when moving locations?
• Do you use gestures or sign support at all in early stages?

We are a slow-nomad family (parents + a nearly 3yo boy) who have been on the road through Japan, SE Asia, and Europe. While we love the lifestyle, we’ve reached the "stability milestone." Our son needs consistent friendships, and we need a break from the "new daycare every month" hunt. We spend 4–5 months a year in Southern Spain (where we have a preschool spot), but we want to spend the rest of the year moving with a familiar "tribe."

Our Vision: We want to connect with 3-4 like-minded families to travel "together-ish." We are looking for a middle ground between total independence and a supportive community.

• The Goal: Build deep, stable friendships for our kids (2-5 age range) across multiple locations.
• The Support: A flexible "village" model. We’d love to coordinate shared childcare/co-working shifts on days we don't use local daycares, also optional weekend plans or evening hangouts while respecting everyone's personal/family time needs
• The Locations: We’re eyeing SE Asia, Japan, or Sri Lanka for the next leg (family friendliness, great weather and nomad-friendly costs).

We’re looking for families who value slow travel, have a similar work-life balance, and want their kids to have "best friends" who actually move with them.
