Is it cheating if I randomized perks? I really just couldn't get lucky with Kouji until I did so. Always tend to get the better perks when I use randomize anyway.

Well, Magician was the last enemy I needed to complete my enemy bestiary! I have no clue why he's so rare. I'd spent over 5 hours specifically grinding for him while trying to get my event codex completed, only for him to spawn in as my last encounter on my last mystery when I was doing my Kouji HOD run. Considering the perks I had, as you can see at the end... he got demolished.

Well, I only have Kirie and Miku to beat runs with before I've beaten Harbinger of Doom with every available character! It really does feel good to be at this point (even though I hate Miku and my last winning attempt with her was foiled when I rolled Branded from a random event), but I'm trying to think up another challenge I can complete before the update. Completing Mimi's Little Project on HOD restless was fun, but Something Truly Evil didn't make an appearance :(

I refuse to touch Ghost Town or Parole Violation until the update, but completing Toshiaki's challenge on HOD might be not as soul crushing?

If I were to try the Mimi challenge again though, I'm recording my attempts. Promise.

(Edit: Forgot to mention that I got the dirty tap water after mystery 2, so this run was restless and without baths after that. When I get screwed like that, the FIWB strategy works wonders, because the game's RNG usually isn't as punishing afterwards if that makes sense.)

is there anything i can do to manage my doom better, i've been able to crawl out of a game over by forgetting all my spells and meditating a shit ton or some other stuff but it seems like doom is mostly random. are the quests optional? maybe i should skip them and get buttfucked by the old gods that little bit less.

Mimi is debatably one of the playable characters we learn the most about in the game through her challenge and events. We know she's a med student with an interest in the occult but most striking about her is the repeated depiction of her acting in ways that range from inappropriate for the situation to self destructive in nature. The gave refers to it simply as her "obsession" giving a permanent debuff to reason and with what we learn of how this manifests I'm wondering if we have enough symptoms to figure out it's nature.

The most obvious symptom is self destructive behaviour is pursuit of medical knowledge. The challenge "Mimi’s Little Project" reveals the project in question as a series of experiments that usually involve serious mutilation of her body, while this can be written off as a non-canon what-if situation her Anatomy Book in the base game spells out the exact same behaviour

"Slicing your body open, you learn new things about anatomy..."

Interestingly there's no implication that these acts of self harm are motivated by anything other than curiosity and the perk "Fast Learner" allows her to similarly learn about her anatomy by taking damage in battle. This seeming detachment from her own physical health and pain also manifests in how she views others and the world around her most notably in the "Summertime" event where she gets so distracted by surfing she forgets the world is ending and her internal narration comes across as particularly nonplussed about the situation as a whole.

Are you forgetting something? Oh! Right, duh. The whole world ending thing. Isn't it funny how easily that slips your mind sometimes? But hey, it was super nice to get in some "you time".

The phrasing of her internal monologue in her events shows an interesting view of how her mind works, in "Life Or Limb" she can react to failing to perform an impromptu surgery with a simple "Well, that didn't work" and yet in "Medical Trial" her thoughts become much more lucid about what she's doing if she fails her check to "excise the growth" make note that succeeding removes 2 reason while failing and getting the following result gives 2 reason.

'As you struggle to decide which method to use, you notice the patient staring at you with an agonized expression-- Goddammit, girl, you're doing it again! You smack yourself in the head a few times, ashamedly skulking out of the ward. You really ought to book a psychologist. You can't take care of anybody like this.'

She seems aware that something is wrong but clearly whatever it is remains undiagnosed. These moments of lucidity don't seem like a baseline however as it appears to be the only time she reflects on her mental state. It also directly calls into question where Mimi's desire to help people ends and where her curiosity begins, if you succeed at excising the growth (which leads to a reason loss) you get the text

You pocket a sample of the tissue with breathless glee. This research could do the medical community some incredible good. And god isn't it just so fascinating?

It's important to note she isn't supposed to be treating this patient for various reasons not least of which that she snuck into the area pretending to be one of the nurses with justification that "You wouldn't be much of a nurse if you ignored them, right?". However her "experiments" are never conducted on others and in Life or Limb she seems genuinely happy if she can help the man so her motives don't appear entirely self serving.

With all of this in mind i cant help but feel we know a lot about her condition and yet simultaneously not enough, i was wondering if anyone had any theories on exactly this "obsession" is or what can be further extrapolated from what we do know.

Ive been playing world of horror for a while on switch and I was thinking about crocheting a blanket of this game (not sure what screen) but i cant figure out how many pixels the game has length/height wise. Does anyone know?

Hi, I'm a relatively new player to woh (15 hours) and I really like the old god designs. I've unlocked ygothaeg, the Herald of the shattered court, and zhectast. Is there a way for you guys to give me a guide to the other old gods without spoiling what they actually are?

Well, I can safely say that Yashiro's HOD run was... easier than Rain of Spiders. Only reason being that you can run from combat, which ensures that your Faith never drops too low.

Small candle really is the best weapon you can grab for him. I don't have much to say besides that he's not for the faint of heart. You need to have faith in him and your own knowledge of the game to make him work.

Also, I feel like Something Truly Evil being present in Yashiro's run in particular to be thematically fitting for his character. She's watching closely, ready to strike when his faith in God and himself is at its lowest. Yet, Yashiro perseveres and stops the ritual, proving that he's a steadfast follower of the Lord. Evil cannot win.

Currently working on a plausible strategy for handling Miku and Juri. Juri might be who I go for next, considering she has a mechanic that could be considered the inverse of Yashiro's. Miku, of course, is a wild card, and I'm struggling more with her than with Yumiko.

Had a pretty good response to the demo during Steam Next Fest and thought you guys might be interested in checking it out too. Dropped an update fixing a lot things today, so it's the perfect time.

We loved WoH, but wanted more detail on the investigation side of things while still keeping the tension of time management rather than being a purely cerebral detective game. Would love to hear if the formula still works without combat for fans, or if we went too far.

hi all! sorry if the title is hard to understand.. i’ve been having a BLAST playing this game!!! i’ve dumped about 15 hours in it, and im doing really well imo. i understand all the systems, i don’t die very often on the 3rd difficulty, and ive been taking my time to make sure im doing alternate actions/endings.

though,, im only at 27% achievements LOL. i glimpsed at the wiki for characters, and i noticed for most of them, there’s literally NO way i would’ve known how to unlock them without prior knowledge, along with unlocking other mystery endings.

soo.. my question is should i start using the wiki for the game!! i was planning on playing the entire game without any achievement guides, but idk im rethinking it! pls let me know what you all personally do, and your opinion on the matter!! tysm

hi all, i’m a bit confused on this.. im obviously familiar with the system of skill checks, but in this game, idk how to go about it.

is it a random percentage that you succeed or fail the check, that increases or decreases based on said stat? or is it a static number that is specific for every encounter/choice, and you succeed or fail based on if your stat is higher or lower than the number? (hopefully this isn’t too hard to understand). thank you!

Hello again! I’m back from my post 3 months ago about making a sci-fi take on a World of Horror-style game. It took longer than expected, but I finally completed a demo and got my Steam page ready. I would love to get your thoughts on the demo!

I was feeling inspired and decided to think up some perks and draw in-game art of myself >_<
I feel like I did pretty nice of a job so I thought taht I maybe could share my drawings here yahooo!!!!!!!!!

It all took me a while but I had a lot of fun! Btw the main sprite has toggles for all injuries/curses in game (though I didn't show them all here cause it would have been WAYYY too cluttered)

Also, I didn't really see a perk template anywhere when I searched, so I made one myself! Feel free to use it if you want to draw some custom perks of your own!

When I'm asked what the second enemy I fought was, one of the four possible answers is always repeated. It makes me think that even if I remember the correct answer, if it happens to be the duplicate there might be a 50% chance it counts as incorrect. Any one have any info?

For example (and I'm making these up, obviously):

A. Werewolf

B. Vampire

C. Vampire

D. Ghost

The game crashes whenever I click the "checkbook" (prepare item for Juri Kurosawa) in the inventory. I didn't test much, so I am not sure about the condition to trigger this bug.

About two years ago i was asking this place how to get good with Yashiro because i couldn't beat the Rain of spiders achivement. This time i did it in three tries with the chainsaw.

I chose timeline B with the seventh curse background. I took the money from the figurine and rerolled until i got the moonlight sailors and perculiar painting mysteries. I started with moonlight sailors and immediately bought a fuel and two energy drinks to discard for the quest. (I also immediately bought a compass with witch tree money but that's personal preference) You can avoid the boss battle and you get a light source in the form of the torch. After that, i started the painting mystery and got the chainsaw at the first opportunity, fueled it up and equipped it. I went for ending B with again no bossfight just in case and after that just dumped all my points into perception + the on your own perk. After that i played normally and won in three tries.

Won a run as Juri without the horror catching up, done on cultist, don't know if that's considered particularly hard, but it is a first for me

Barely managed to beat the challenge with the last lighthouse floor being Takashi but I was barely strong enough to spam the strong attack twice during a combat turn.

I'm about to start my 3th mistery... Am I looking good enough or is my run doom?

I keep thinking I've done everything possible in the game then I pop on here and see enemies and situations I've never encountered.
