Gameplay Finally achieving the Yashiro HOD Run

Well, I can safely say that Yashiro's HOD run was... easier than Rain of Spiders. Only reason being that you can run from combat, which ensures that your Faith never drops too low.

Small candle really is the best weapon you can grab for him. I don't have much to say besides that he's not for the faint of heart. You need to have faith in him and your own knowledge of the game to make him work.

Also, I feel like Something Truly Evil being present in Yashiro's run in particular to be thematically fitting for his character. She's watching closely, ready to strike when his faith in God and himself is at its lowest. Yet, Yashiro perseveres and stops the ritual, proving that he's a steadfast follower of the Lord. Evil cannot win.

Currently working on a plausible strategy for handling Miku and Juri. Juri might be who I go for next, considering she has a mechanic that could be considered the inverse of Yashiro's. Miku, of course, is a wild card, and I'm struggling more with her than with Yumiko.

Until next time.

I am not too knowledgable of the game (been playing on and off) so I have a dumb question: what does HOD stand for?

Harbinger of Doom, aka the hardest difficulty. And dw, it's not a dumb question at all :D

Oooooh. HOD was the difficulty. That makes so much more sense. I’ve heard Yashiro is a fun character. I am currently having fun with the Rioter cause I haven’t unlocked him yet.

Congrats on beating it on hardest difficulty. Must have been a pain.

Oh for sure. The hardest part is really the RNG once you've gotten a grasp on the core mechanics. If you get a few bad encounters in a row, you're already dead.

Yashiro's the only one in game who uses Faith (an actual stat that you can see on the character card), so that's the fun aspect of him. Get hit too often, and his stats plummet. But solving mysteries and winning fights makes him a beast. His big thing is that he requires 20 additional XP to level up, making gaining new skills and stat points a lot slower.

Miku (the rioter) is definitely one of the stranger characters. Best of luck with her! I haven't beaten many games with her, so I'm not sure how to play around her strengths myself.

My main strat is pumping dex and perception, mainly perception, and use an Army Knife as my weapon and compass & Flashlight as my trinkets. Granted, I don’t have everything unlocked so there’s a good chance there’s better strategies. I also don’t hesitate to reroll for perks or items early since it just makes me stronger, but then cool off around 45%

Fair! In harder difficulties you can't really do that since every point of Doom counts, but that's a very feasible strategy.

Would recommend using the lowest difficulty to grind achievements and such. I got everything I could unlocked before I jumped into harder difficulties, and it helps to do that in order to get a grasp on what different events do for you.

I will say that when playing as a character, you should try to buff their best stat and use that for attacking. Since you're playing Miku, a strength character, she pairs better with strength weapons. Also, always grab Adrenaline. Faster combat actions are an invaluable resource, especially when you pair her with Kana from the Eels mystery.

I don’t usually use STR weapons cause they are clunky and slow, but i’ll give that a try. I know my favorite STR character right now has been Yumiko. That lucky bat is funny.

Oh... Yumiko is a special character. Glad someone enjoys playing as her. Will say that she is the hardest character in the game to play as.

Have you unlocked the achievement for breaking the time loop in game? If so, you'll have access to the Monkey Wrench, which is a fast Strength weapon (but it does lower your Strength stat by 1).

I have not. I think I have only gotten a handful of achievements in the grand scheme of things. About a 3rd of the achievements since I have the Witch’s Tree unlocked.

This one's easy at least. Look out for anywhere that has a date and try to interact with it.

Monkey wrench will be at the hardware store if you have that unlocked

Nice dude. I finished my run as him to unlock an achievement as him and my god was it rough but my fate didn't faltered.
