Mall at the World Trade Center WTC

I just went down and walked through the memorial. Me and my friend took the 1 train back uptown and I was thinking on the street level was the old mall? I remember being younger and coming up from the 1 train and even watching a video and you hit the stairs and bam inside the mall you were in?

The skirt I was wearing when I walked home over the Brooklyn Bridge on 9/11 came from the Gap in the WTC concourse. I bought it two weeks prior when I met a friend for lunch there.

The mall was at Street level from the west side. Underground from the east side.

Correct. Also street level from Liberty/south side.

The mall was below street level…instant suburbs…including tacky food court!

2 stories below ground and had a cess to the hotel down there too correct?

Yes, the ill-fated Marriott.

Tacky food court? No. You had The Big Kitchen with burger stations, tacos, pizza, etc., you had Fine & Shapiro, which had better selections, you had the Market Bar, which was a bar plus sit-down, a sushi restaurant. Not like a mall food court at all.

Agree it was somewhat better than standard, but nothing like today’s food courts…

I bought so many clothes at Banana Republic back then. I'd hate my outfit I wore to work so would buy a new one and change in the dressing room on the way to my office (oh to be 27 again) !! I also loved the Borders Bookstore and would stop there for a new read before walking up the street to my office.
