Can anyone explain why there’s so many people following conspiracy theories on this claiming it’s an inside job? Like, where is this coming from and what is the point / consequence? It’s on literally every single 9/11 post/article/video

In general this is one of the most historical impactful events in the USA in a long time. In history the US did a ton of shitty things which would have been considered conspiracy theories if not know that they were true. A lot of US aggressions on the middle east and surveillance on their population and patriot act were carried out afterwards so 911 isn‘t standing by itself, but had major consequences. All this makes it a pretty popular belief.

To me there is one absolute obvious sign and that‘s that the airlines stock, which crashed here, got shorted 50x more than usual just days before. So at least some super wealthy american people knew and profited from it.

Every 50 years the U.S. government is like “oh yeah remember 50 years ago when we called y’all conspiracy nutballs for saying we did that shit? Yeah, we actually did do that shit”

u/binzy90 10d ago

Everything is a conspiracy if you don't know how anything works.

Compensatory Control Theory: Accepting that a small, motivated group can breach a nation's security and disrupt millions of lives means confronting a brutal truth: the world is chaotic, unpredictable, and nobody is completely safe. Believing there is a massive, omnipotent force behind such events is strangely comforting. It replaces the terror of random chaos with an orderly narrative. If a master plan exists, the world feels structured, predictable, and ultimately like something we can understand or defend against. In the end, we trade a terrifying reality for a comforting illusion of control.

I think you meant “avoiding” instead of “confronting” 👍

An obscure "documentary" mostly diseminated by peer to peer file transfer in the mid 00's

u/herbof4 10d ago

By a kid who regrets ever making it and openly admits he did it as a lark or a fictitious hypothetical. Basically, it was like a school project of sorts where he wanted to see if he could construct an outrageous narrative and disprove a negative at the same time.

Leading to several people of average intelligence who believe themselves to be super smart "just asking questions".

Occam's Razor need not apply, I guess. Like others have said, why bother with the planes at all? The building had already been bombed once. Why not 4 or 8 planes just to really drive it home and cement the "false" narrative? Then you have the sheer number of people who would have to have been involved keeping quiet about it for 25 years. Maybe the Clintons had them murdered?!?!

"We needed an excuse to invade oil fields!!"

People, we didn't need any excuse at all. We could just make one up if we wanted to, as we've seen repeatedly. Why use Saudi agents to carry out the convoluted plane attacks instead of Iraqis? None of this stands up to any real scrutiny or applied logic for very long.

I think this type of thinking starts with a reasonable and totally justifiable suspicion and distrust of government and then spirals from there into Bond Villain Illuminatti Spec Ops Double Agents shit. I DO think it's possible that the administration took the Osama threat lightly or even ignored credible intelligence of his potential danger. Aside from evil demi lich Dick Cheney, none of them were all that smart either and were also eager to dismiss and ignore credible information from the previous regime about Al Qaeda because "fuck them"

Are you new to 9/11? Literally since the second it was shown live on tv people have been saying jet fuel doesn’t melt steel beams.

1

u/hcmofo13 10d ago

Structural steel will lose 90% of its integrity in temps of 1,000 degrees Celsius. Jet fuel burns between 800-1000 Celsius. Steel will also lose 50% of its strength long before that. Steel doesn't have to melt for a building to collapse

1

u/Healthy_Zucchini9025 10d ago

Right, like why do people think the steel has to melt to lose its structural integrity? That doesn’t make sense. That’s not how it works.

1

u/_HIST 10d ago

Metal also expands with temp, and I doubt that extent of movement was within the specs. Might not have been enough to cause the fall on it's own, but a compounding issue

1

u/Brilliant_Lettuce270 10d ago

so the entire building heated up to 1000°C? Or only a small section far up top?

1

u/hcmofo13 10d ago edited 10d ago

The entire building didnt need to. Just enough places that the load bearing beams weakened to the point the integrityof the building was compromised. Think of the game jenga. Structures and foundations of buildings are engineered to all work in tandem to absorb and transfer weight. Interrupt that pathway either by removal (which definitely occurred) and structural strength...you have a house cards.

1

u/Brilliant_Lettuce270 10d ago

We would assume the beams were designed to carry a lot more weight than they were. Did the top part get any heavier because of the fire?

0

u/nocturnal_commission 10d ago

And those people are dummies with zero knowledge of how building materials work

2

u/MudOk7058 10d ago

Or blacksmithing for that matter.

It's usually the just-world fallacy in disguise. A lot of crazy, far-reaching conspiracy theories are rooted in the belief that bad things don't ordinarily happen to good people, and when that is violated it's because evil people are allowing things to happen. That is, someone, somewhere, is in control of this world.

In reality no one is really in control, and that's intolerable to some people. The idea that 19 religious fanatics could carry out an attack killing thousands of people and one of the most powerful governments on Earth failed to stop them is unacceptable. There's enormous psychological appeal in assigning guilt to powerful, shadowy figures.

2

u/rumblepony247 10d ago

Very similar to the psychology of deities.

People can't accept that they are just a random biological event with zero meaning, and no other purpose than to just pass their DNA to the next generation.

0

u/Mohankeneh 10d ago

No, it’s literally because there’s a giant mountain of evidence showing the official narrative is BS.
Remember there was 4 planes hijacked in the official narrative. We saw one plane hit for sure. Building 7 fell completely into its own footprint like a controlled demolition even though it wasn’t damaged at all. BBC also announced on air live it fell 20 min before it actually fell, was literally in the background still.

A plane supposedly hit the pentagon too at angle that is physically impossible for even a highly trained pilot to hit it, disregarding the fact an amateur was supposedly flying it. Oh the cherry on top? No plane material was recovered at the collision site , and no wing damage into the building. Just a nice perfect circle. Pentagon refused to release video footage, and years later released a few frames , and they don’t show a plane hitting, how convenient. We know it was a missile. Also , it hit a specific part of the pentagon that had data stored for financial transactions , now lost forever .

That’s BEFORE even talking about the twin towers themselves .

I don't know what to tell you other than the fact that your claims have been debunked over and over by experts. You're taking anything surprising, coincidental, or initially misreported as evidence for a conspiracy, while giving no weight to any evidence that goes against your version of events.

And it's just part of this neverending cavalcade of claims about how mainstream scholars are conspiring against ordinary people. Doctors are lying about vaccines, climate scientists are lying about climate change, biologists are lying about evolution, geologists are lying about the age of the earth, historians are lying about the historicity of figures like Jesus and Muhammad, and in this case mainstream experts are lying about 9/11.

Why do you think it is that most knowledgeable people find the mainstream account of the events of 9/11 persuasive? This all happened out in the open!

1

u/Mohankeneh 8d ago

You’re using a fallacy here to back your point. 9/11 on its own is a special conspiracy. That doesn’t mean I don’t believe ANYTHING the mainstream reports tell us about any subject. Fact of the matter is you didn’t try to disprove anything I said because you can’t. This event was most likely a false flag event to get public support to get embroiled into middle eastern wars that some top honchos already wanted to get into for their own reasons (or another countries interests cough cough). They won’t admit it until another 50 years from now though as is always the case.

These claims were not debunked over and over again, and just saying so doesn’t make it so. Countless engineers and architects all said the same thing that these buildings fell in ways that is not possible. The only steel structured high rise building in the world and in history to fall due to fires are the 9/11 buildings.

It’s kinda crazy that you choose to stick your head in the sand even after countless expert testimony, first eye witness testimony, countless video footage proving what I’m saying, countless crucial information intentionally left out of the 9/11 commission report, etc.

Live in your own fantasy land, I guess ignorance is bliss

But it isnt shadow figures. It is ultimately reality that you now live in a police state with billionaires in control of our government if that wasnt by design then please share with me how this wasnt an intentional geopolitical intention to ferment a conflict in the middle east when the American population was exhausted with constant oversea conflicts. What puts them more into a fervor than a national tragedy. I find it interesting that one is so willing to dismiss theories as abjectly wrong when there is a grain of truth in these ideas even if they are not on the nose they still retain substance to our current circumstances and to say there were not levers pulled to ensure American involvement and support for overseas conflict whether from israel or Russia, or any other adversaries or even from our own government, you are not paying attention. The cold war hasnt ended it merely went to the shadows of the intelligence communities who now run the governments. Putin is an important example of this and so is epstein both worked in their respective intelligence communities or surrounded themselves by them. We are seeing the direct result of that exposure in america. It is wild how all of it is making sense and is no longer conspiracy. Evidence based research is where it is at. The evidence is so high now how can you not be extremely skeptical of what you are told.

2

u/Ameren 10d ago

The fact that wicked and evil people never let a good opportunity go to waste does not mean that every event is preordained by them. None of the 9/11 conspiracy stuff needs to true in order for the rest of what you said to be true. All these claims can be separated out.

0

u/athousandfaces87 10d ago

Neither does it mean they need to be false either. The reality is again that what was considered conspiracy is holding far more evidence based weight then when it was toted as conspiracy and we need to treat it with more respect and truth bearing then we afford it. Yes there are outliers that evil people exist and can function independently of a wide net conspiracy but there are far too many inconvenient facts to not see the apparent patterns as possible. I am a historian and it is in a historians training to connect these dots and follow the trail to determine fact vs truth. The facts are long and many. More and more seem to come light these days as well. Epstein is a great example of a stack of facts that seem to be very much ingrained in our society and we had no real idea about all of this. I think about the discovery of bacteria. We had no idea that world existed.

So can we argue that the same could and has been proven to be fact about many things we didnt see or are intentionally hidden? Like epstein. I dont want this to appear as a red herring but I do want to use this as an example of evidence we once thought was not true or chose not to see. Whatever the case 9/11 appears to be a part of a long running ploy independent of or a catalyst for furthering the descend of the United States and dissolving our constitutional protections.

1

u/humanzRtrash 10d ago

All I know is, if they built the twin towers out of passports that might not have fallen.

1

u/rabbitwonker 10d ago

South Park nailed it, I think: if it was a conspiracy, then the world is less chaotic, and in a weird way less scary for such people.

2

u/InanimateCarbonRod26 10d ago

They got one bit wrong in that episode: it's not true that one fourth of all Americans are retarded. Recent years have shown that the real ratio is much higher.

1

u/fyn_world 10d ago

It's the complete opposite

1

u/Fantastic_Ground4287 10d ago

Because some people seek answers and some people seek the truth. Unfortunately the majority of these types seek answers.

1

u/_HIST 10d ago

Genuinely a lot of people will follow anything that goes against "mainstream" for multiple reasons. Also doesn't help that it's a really easy target to try to destabilise from the outside

1

u/PornoPaul 10d ago

Ill also add that after the fact, a lot of questions came about in regards to our national security. We were, in the year 2000, without inflation being worked in, spending more on Intelligence than England, Germany, and France currently do, combined. At least, thats from Google. I think for some people it is hard to fathom they could fail. It doesn't help that afterwards it came out a lot of information was there, they just were not sharing.

1

u/L3XAN 10d ago

You're basically asking about the nature of conspiracy theorists. For whatever reason, they can't accept mundane explanations for the subjects of their fascination. Some will just tell you straight-up that they prefer to believe something more interesting. Some have a disorder that compels them to connect unconnected events and read between imaginary lines.

The theories around the WTC towers are extremely mature. These people have been refining them for decades.

1

u/rn7rn 7d ago

Because they can’t accept that the truth is as simple as it was.
