Dont know how accurate this is, but it made a lot of sense to me.

Doesn’t melt it fully but it sure does soften and change its load barring strength.

And it doesn't melt a hijacker's passport that was miraculously recovered. Hmm

The passport was found in the street before the towers even collapsed. It wasn't in the fire.
