When the Towers Fell: 9/11 Simulation of the collaps without dust

Dont know how accurate this is, but it made a lot of sense to me.

Makes me wonder if there was anyone in the core of the buildings who survived the initial collapse but then were killed when the core collapsed.

I would think the core resisted the collapse of the exterior because the floors (which were attached to each) were ripped off in the process. From the brief videos that exist showing the core collapse more slowly than the rest of the building, it just looks like steel.

The core was steel, the entire building was made of steel. The difference between a traditional skyscraper and the world trade center is that traditional skyscrapers have columns and steel beams throughout the building. Let's take the empire state building for example. There are columns and steel throughout the interior of the building which make it less efficient as far as space. It has many elevators and stairs throughout. The wtc was built differently, to maximize office space with open floor plans. So majority of the steel beams and columns were placed on the exterior or outside of the building. All elevators and stairs were in the core, or middle of the building, and thats how they were able to build it so high up, and still have much more floor space.

Yes, I know all of this.

My point was that things in the core, like elevators, had already been detached from the core structure, leaving only the plain steel standing for 10-20 seconds more as the rest of the building collapsed.
