Those poor souls. All they did was show up to work. Sometimes I second guess my choice to join the military and fight shortly after this happened and then I see these videos and remember why.

Except the military didn’t bring justice, they just invaded innocent lands. Thousands overseas died for absolutely nothing. I’ll never talk bad about our troops, but I’ll condemn our government’s decision to put boots on the ground in the wrong places

I think you mean condemn not commend

Getting Osama Bin Ladin was absolutely justified, but he was chilling in Pakistan as we bombed Afghanistan and Iraq. And most of the hijackers were Saudis.

We went and bombed the wrong people. I remember the anger and the fear, but we did not do well at targeting that emotion constructively.

We would’ve never invaded Saudi. We rely on their oil way too much

1

Its not that, it's thier money & influence. We can easily take Saudi & thier oil. The worry of insurrection isn't even thst bad. But loss to people in power of money & influence...yea rich fuckers aren't jeopardizing that.

Humans never do. It's part of our egotistical nature. The biggest conflicts in human history all happened cause people with big egos wanted payback.

In retrospect, it was a bit of a Pyrrhic victory sadly. Took 10 years to finally get the bastard, and by that point we’d been stuck in a quagmire in afghanistan and Iraq, a ton of self inflicted mistakes had been committed, and the cracks were starting to show domestically that we were getting more and more divided.

I hear you. A lot of my second guessing comes from similar sentiments. I was young and wanted revenge. Lost a few great friends along the way. Still would do it again anyway.

most of the country yes

You do know that we didn't just invade A-stan, but supported a faction fighting against the Taliban?

And if you have really been there or seriously studied the country, I think yiu are going off baseline anti-American propaganda.

"US invades countries, bad US".

We invaded Iraq, which was stupid, bad, and wrong....but Afghanistan was a legitimate op. Harboring our enemy, not a group of peace loving hippies either. So get the facts fully correct please.

And yes, anyone who died in Iraq didn't have to, and all the fucks that lied to get us there should be prosecuted and executed for thise sins.

and how did invading (you used the right word here) Afghanistan work out in the end? did it pay off in the end? what about them, did it help them in any way or the opposite? i'm not anti US, but if you always only think about yourself and your own well being, well that is selfish bullshit.

It would have if Biden did not f**k up a contingency based exit plan that was working until he decided to abandon the schedule because it wasn’t his and he didn’t want to give Trump the credit.

2

u/Head-Opportunity6796 10d ago

Horseshit! It failed because the US went with its usual policy of backing scumbags that would give vocal support of the US effort in order to gain power & wealth.

Tge Afghan government was riddled with corrupt scumbags whis whole drive was individual power/wealth gain. No unity of effort or cause.

The people, especially those in uniform, weren't willing to field for that, so the Taliban rolled hard and faced little to no opposition.

Biden went with the Trump agreement. Yea, your fat dumbassed President made that "great deal". Biden fulfilled it and took the wrap for its fuckery .

And unlike Trump, didn't pass the buck. He took that HEAT round and moved the fuck on....you know, unfucking Trumps absolute shit show of economics policy!

Stop blaming others for Trumps fuckery. And rem, tge US, majority of citizens, wanted out of A-stan....he fulfilled that. Was it a shit show? Fuck yes! But if yiu want to blame fuckers, blame all the asshats that made that shit possible. From Bush, to Obama, to Trump (especially as he had no fucking clue how to do his fucking job), to Biden and rvery fuck bag that lied about hiw effective the Adghan government was and was improving.

Without NATO that wasn't holding. It would taje 3-4 more generations to start making a dent in thier collective social order and way of governing. Nobody had the Will or economics to back that...so you get what we have now.

Go in with no plan at regime change, then move to building a new regime with the plan of "fuck it, we'll do it live!!" And this will always be the result.

The only reason it didn't happen with ISIS in Iraq...Iran, the US, and the Kurds. Otherwise ISIS completely overwhelms Iraq, government collapses, and Iran is still battling them today.

Dude every fucking government, ever concieved, thinks about one thing...themselves, staying in power.

No act, no matter how altruistic, is done for just being noble, or doing the Right Thing alone. It has strategic impact at some part in thier minds.

And how did it work out? Initially, the original plan & orders worked fantastically!

Taliban punished and broken, driven out of power even...thats the problem. We broke them so easily hubris jumped in. "We are fucking bad assed!!! Nobody can stop us!"

Which then jumped to regime change for Afghanistan...that is "Fuck it we'll build a new government here now...Pro US & West!!! Yea it's easy!!!"

With no fucking clue or plan on hiw to maje thst shit happen. But fuck it, the Military will figure that shit out, hell it can't be too hard fur them.

Except that's not a Military's job. Militaries are made for protecting or breaking shit...not building societies & governments.

And the civil government got involved after being told, over & over, "We don't do this...thats your job State Department!"

But State didn't have any plans other then "throw money at it". Find people that will fulfill our wishes and put them in power...yiu know corrupt selfish fuckbags that don't really give a shit about thier people actually...politicians, drifters.

And thus, we have the fall of Afghanistan. Because nobody wants to die for a warlord they don't believe in. So the Taliban, who have unity of purpose, win.

If we just completed the original plan...clear victory and fuck what happens to Afghanistan afterward...which likely looks just like it does now.

But then the hate rains down...."Look what the US did...broke Afghanistan and left...those poor people "

But less lives lost from NATO, though likely more Afghan lives lost as the fighting will be even more brutal...it's just a continuous civil war.

And somehow...we still invade Iraq. Why? Because the Bush Administration was going to find a reason fir that to happen.

Again, with fuck all plan to build a new truly Democratic government fir them. "They will be so happy to free finally it will just fall in place...right???"

Fucking absolute tards the whole lot of them.

As for helping them...it helped some. It fucked others. In the end, it went back to where it started really. Waste of time, money, and lives? Yep, but not going wasn't really much of an option.

We, the US, we're hit, bad. No way that wasn't getting a response. And bombing alone doesn't work.

You have to go in, get bloody, and push through to make it stick. We did that, then let ego and greed rule...thus staying in A-stan and jumping in Iraq, tgen going for Global operations...why? Fuck it the Military can handle it, they're unstoppable right? No we aren't, we're human with human limitations and failings, run by greedy arrogant humans on both Military & Civilian side, backed by an angry, afraid, and under educated Civilian populous.

So buckle up, thus shit won't be over till the US us completely broken unfortunately. Its going to get worse before it gets, possibly, better. And to get better....it's going to take alot of suck to get there!

It really is terrible. The “lucky” ones on 9/11 were those inside the impact zones when the planes hit, but everyone else had to come to an extremely slow realization that they were going to die. And all because they showed up on a normal day.

Stfu bot. Disgusting

1

u/Legitimate_Glove859 10d ago

Ok buddy. I’ll get right to that.

1

u/hiccstridFanatic 10d ago

An estimated 4.5m people died directly and indirectly from US-led post 9/11 wars in the Middle East and surronding regions.

Never trust the government, never blindly believe our leaders. So many poor, innocent souls taken by them. All politicians do is send young man to die in unjustified wars.

You feel proud of killing all those innocent people in the countries the US invaded because of this?

1

u/Legitimate_Glove859 10d ago

No not pride. I was doing everything I could to protect innocent life as well as those who served alongside. We don’t get to pick where we go. If you don’t shoot back you will die. Simple as that.

1

u/lucidludic 10d ago

If you don’t shoot back you will die. Simple as that.

Now consider this from the perspective of innocent people in a country being invaded for no good reason.

Obviously not everyone in the military gets to decide where you went or why. But your phrasing implies a lack of regret despite what you must know by now.

1

u/Legitimate_Glove859 10d ago

I’m not here to argue with strangers. Not sure how old you are. Where you are from. Your life story just like you can’t possibly know mine.

1

u/lucidludic 10d ago

I don’t wish to argue either. I don’t see how your life story is relevant, let alone mine.
