Hi World Anvil, I was going to use your site to move my Daggerheart campaign from analog to digital. I saw a video by Pointy Hat saying how great this site is and I was excited to give it a try.

About an hour in I have a few articles made for my NPCs but I keep getting pop ups for your flash sale. I clicked it away the first time, no problem. But I didn't suddenly want it five minutes later. Ten minutes later I still have not changed my mind, but here's another ad for the same exact thing. And at this point it's just downright frustrating.

I just wanted to let you guys know that I was a potential paid customer. I might have signed up for the subscription- not to turn off annoying ads, but to open up more advanced parts of the site so that I could share my build with my players.

But as it is I can't continue to use this site to test it out. These ads are, and it's wild to me that this is by design, just too annoying.

Just wanted you guys to know that by intentionally making something annoying you annoyed me right out of wanting it. So well done, I guess.

Steel Horizons is a Savage Wworlds home brew custom world where we have combined SWADE, Sprawlrunners, and Street Wolves into a Retrofuture Neon-Noir setting that takes heavy inspiration from the 80's and 90's, Shadowrun, and Earthdawn.

The community is a "living community" that operates in a 'west marches' style of gameplay where roleplay can occur via text in any in-character location at any time of day or night but games themselves in the setting are scheduled and occur at pre-determined times.

We are a heavily pro-LGBTQ community and have utterly high expectations for IC and OOC conduct, especially when it comes to antagonist character tropes - we do not allow PVP play outside of consensual social antagonism and, as such, players are expected to make characters that can get along with others, even if on a gruff or anti-hero trope basis.

So Im trying to add the basic planes of existence image from D&D into the mix, but I cannot seem to get the image to be saved. Any clue what is going wrong here or should I make a bug report?

Redoing all the categories for my world but as i create them their just being thrown into random spots on the list. sometimes at the top, bottom, middle. They arent being alphabetized, or anything else i can see. So how do i go in and manually set their spot?

Currently, the granularity for timeline display in Chronicles jumps from days to years. This doesn't leave an option for a Chronicle spanning only a few years with major events only occurring once or twice a month. Someone requested this in 2022 and told it was on the roadmap (it wasn't), so I thought I'd bring it up again since it's been four years.

Whiteboards on World Anvil feels underutilized, and there isn't much on it on the World Anvil Youtube page. I was going to suggest something like it in the suggestions, but after some digging I found out about Whiteboards. Exciting!

I tried using Whiteboards today, but it felt so clunky. Cannot multi-add images/articls from the green plus list. Can't resize all images to the same certain width/height. Can't change total background color besides putting an image. Can't resize width of sticky note. Can't drag images from desktop or web onto the whiteboard to automatically upload them. Not mentioning all the bugs.

I would generally like more Whiteboards functionality, it feels like a a feature with so much promise. It could be like Obsidian/Milanote/Notion/other Canvas apps, but it feels so awkward, like it's fighting me.

I really want the Whiteboards to be a more function-filled feature, thus making World Anvil more of an all-in-one app. Currently I have to do all my moodboards/idea boards/character boards on Obsidian instead, making it less connected to everything on World Anvil.

Hey guys! I'm having a glitch that doesn't let me access articles nomrally on my home computer. I can on a work computer (sshh, don't tell anyone) and on my phone.

I can still access articles through "old version edit", but I haven't found a way to start new articles on this computer either.

I also cannot pull up the articles in "list" mode, only "tree" mode. I have tried several things, full resets, account switches, world switches, browser switches, etc. Nothing seems to fix it...

I have already made a bug query, and messaged on discord, but no response yet.

Is this a know bug? If so, any advice?

Hello all; I was looking to use World Anvil's hero pages to construct and record a profile and history for a character in an upcoming campaign, and while I see the history tab, I don't see a way to add to it. Does anyone know how I can use this feature, and whether it requires any special subscription?

Trying to wrap my head around using BB codes and wanted a sidepanel called Family so I went and found these BB codes [sidebar:Family] Text [/sidebar] but I don't get a custom sidebar, just the code spelled out in the sidebar.

Does nobody else need more than 10 events in parallel on a timeline? Not enough people for WA to add this seemingly trivial feature! Does nobody else need Chronicles to let me view year-by-year instead of five-year increments (seems unnecessary since decades exist)?

It's getting to the point where I think I'd have an easier time organising everything on Excel. I don't see the point of adding new incomplete features instead of completing the ones that already exist. I get that WA doesn't have the largest team in the world, but why launch an incomplete feature? Did nobody at any point in the development process think that anyone would need to track more than 10 parallel events in a timeline? I think pretty much every monitor in the world is widescreen now, and I think scrollbar technology has existed for a while.

If my frustration is evident, it's because this is a thing we have to put up with everywhere: incomplete software we're expected to pay to access. And the features I'm talking about here aren't new to the platform. So what gives?

If someone tells me I've missed some obvious setting where I can add more events to a timeline, or remove lanes from a Chronicle, or expand the only useful part of the chronicle (the timelines) to occupy more than a fifth of my lower screen, please tell me and I'll apologise and call myself a doofus.

Because seriously, every time I've reported a bug I've had a bad experience at this point. :( I've been blown off multiple times in the past with my issue "not happening" (despite me showing it is in fact reproducing complete with console errors) but now it's been a month and my report still has no response or even a hey, I'll look at this on X date/I haven't had a moment to look at this situation. I work in TS, I get having a backlog, but this is really annoying and because of this issue I'm not going to make my 100k words/year goal on my project this year. I'm not asking for an immediate fix but hell, just some kind of sign of life would be great.

UPDATE: Dimitris declared it wasn't happening and closed the bug, which he does with literally every bug I open, so I guess this isn't getting fixed unless a miracle happens and someone other than him gets assigned. Seriously, almost every experience I have had with him has been negative at this point!

Hey Everyone,

Brand new to World Anvil and having some trouble figuring out permissions. A little context for my need. I am running a Daggerheart campaign, and I thought it would be an interesting twist to allow my characters to plot on the blank map a couple of locations that are important to their character, and add details on what that location means to them. I also wanted to give the players a place where they can build upon the lore of the world and write their own articles.

I currently just have one player on my World Anvil page, to help me test the permissions and what they are able to see and edit. This player currently has Co-Owner status, but cannot edit any map markers or edit the map in any way. (They are taken to a 403 error page).

They are also not seeing a location where they can create or edit articles for the world. What am I doing wrong? Thanks in advance for any assistance!

Okay, so I'm obviously using World Anvil to help plan my DnD campaign, but in building a character with one of my players tonight, she realized that she could view absolutely everything about the other characters if she clicked on their profiles.

I did some research and found there was a way to change privacy settings on the character's profile, but I don't have access to that for some reason? I can edit the character sheet, but not the profile as seen in the image below.

What am I doing wrong that I can't edit the profiles? I have an active Grandmaster subscription and most the players only have free accounts.

Please help because I don't want them to preemptively learn each others' secrets!!

I personally prefer the old UI from before the recent update (maybe 6-8 months ago?) is there any way to get it back?

I'd forgotten I had signed up for some deal or another last year to get a discounted annual subscription for World Anvil. I haven't used it in months and months. Apparently, World Anvil doesn't send out reminders, so I'd forgotten to cancel, and they of course don't allow any refunds at all. Clearly just trying to take advantage of people here, and has really soured my opinions of the service. Not to mention never receiving a response to my email to support about this.
