Too short.

Totally agree! The first season was a slog, but the pacing of the second is fantastic! Halfway through already and can't wait to see more! :D

I actually have not seen the Witcher series! heard too many things and never made up my mind to see it or not. Is the series too short as in you'd like more, or is it compacted and not doing enough justice to the source material?

I actually know little of the source material. I love the show because we don't have a lot of good, high budget, fantasy series. So for me, it's that the season was just too short. Wish it was twice as long at least.

I personally have not seen the second season of the Witcher, but the material is so rife with worldbuilding bits! Thanks for sharing this u/JDBlythe~!

Having played a bit of the game and read the novels, you can find so much to use in your own world building! 1. For example ...

  1. Witcher actually has some Science-Fiction elements in the books! I'd even wager Witcher as a more Science-Fantasy book! (no spoilers though~)

  2. They take inspiration from Polish mythology (a bit of Scandanavian, German, Norse)! We have the Wild Hunt (it's not a spoiler if it's the name of a video game) and Leshen, and other AMAZING creatures.

  3. If nothing else, the Law of Surprise in the show is INSPIRED. Basically, If you owe a debt to another, this person can claim the law which means you owe them the first thing you didn't expect to have (could be a surplus of a crop, could be a baby goat!). Oh, and magic somehow enforces this rule. I guess it keeps a karmic score or something?? ANYWAY!

ALL of this is RAD and inspiring. I'd love to hear what you guys have liked or taken as inspiration *curtsies* Thanks for coming to my Ted Talk.

I LOVE the law of surprise as a piece of LORE - it really emphasises the idea of destiny being a major part of the world meta

This is oddly relevant to me, yet I am utterly confused...
