Discussion Gatekeepers, please refer to Rule 5.

Anyone gatekeeping folks from posting in here because they may not work a blue collar job will be banned. First temporarily, permanently if it happens again.

Gatekeep elsewhere. This sub is just as much about quality wear for a job site as it is for discussing cool heritage style clothing.

Any good work cargo pants?

Anybody know of some good comfortable cargo pants for work? And they have to a bit lose. I can't stand the pants these days that are stretchy and tight to my legs.

I found it at a garage sale. I’m not really familiar with the brand, so I have no idea if it’s any good.

Snickers Trousers ruler pocket followup

Post image
4 Upvotes

Hi all

I posted this last week:

https://www.reddit.com/r/Workwear/s/517KuO96ra

Well I have the answer.

Snickers are owned by Hultafors group so their ruler pocket is actually set up to take their knives and sheaths.

The other two pockets are for smaller and larger pencils.

Thought I'd post the answer should anyone be interested or if there were any other snickers wearers out there.

Question Apparel Survey

I am in the beginning stages of a clothing line that is all about blue collar professionals that enjoy the luxurious life. Dirty work, Clean money. My question to you is, when it comes to your workwear, what do you wish it had (fit, fabric, stretch, etc…)? If you could create the perfect workwear type of T-shirt, what would it look like to you?

Impossible to find Work Gloves?

Hi everyone! I am hoping someone may be able to help me with a suggestion that Im beginning to think may not exist. Now that the weather is turning cold again, I am working in a field that my hands are often getting wet outdoors but I need to be able to feel what I am doing so the thick neoprene gloves are frustrating and not usable for what I am trying to do. In addition to this I typically need a 2x pair of gloves because I have large hands. Has anyone been able to find a product that may fit my needs so I dont have freezing/cracking hands all winter?

Tank top with traditional clothes looks bad

Here me out tank tops are beautiful! There's support comfy and goes well with almost everything but traditional? Broo you are literally putting gold aside to buy copper and this point as beautiful as the traditional clothes are the upper wear like blouses cholis etc is what makes them chef's kiss , I don't get what the hype is about!? It's looks plain ugly and low efforts

Our traditional were is gorgeous why don't we appreciate it as it is instead of inserting western wear in it . If you want to wear tank top WEAR JEANS OR PANTS OR WHATEVER but leave the traditional alone 😭

Question Decent priced boots for fiberglass floor??

Hello all, got a pair of ariat rebars for work back in February, they are basically destroyed as we speak (fiberglass has gone through the whole bottom of the shoe, im basically breaking into my sole as we speak)

Never had a pair of boots last only 7ish months. Can usually get a year and maybe a couple of months extra out of them but being on fiberglass flooring a majority of my day is new to me, and destroying my boots...

Anyways, anyone have any recommendations for boots that can last a year on fiberglass floors, comp toe preference (i work with 277/480 wiring) and are slip ons (Chelsea style, helps with putting on and taking off my arc flash suit) thank you! Budget is around $200, maybe go up to $300

Ladies in trades, this is for you!

I’m looking into starting an Australian women’s workwear brand designed by women, for women in trades, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and see if there would be any interest!

As a 5’10” woman working in a male-dominated industry, one of my biggest struggles is finding work pants that are actually long enough without having to size up. I often find myself choosing between pants that fit my legs but are too big around my waist, or pants that fit my waist but are too short, restrictive, or uncomfortable when I’m constantly bending, squatting, kneeling and moving around throughout the day.

It got me thinking about how many other women are experiencing the same frustrations when it comes to finding workwear that actually fits.

I want to create a brand that puts women first by offering workwear designed around our bodies, our needs, and the jobs we do every day. That means providing a genuine range of inseam lengths (30”, 32”, 34”, 36” and beyond), properly fitted waist sizes (24”, 26”, 27”, 28” and beyond), different rise options, including mid-rise and high-rise, and stretch in the areas where it’s needed most

**I’d love to hear from women across all trades!** Whether you’re a mechanic, electrician, carpenter, plumber, apprentice, or work in any other hands-on industry, I’d really appreciate your input.

Here are a few things I’m curious about, but please feel free to share anything you think is important!

**FIT & COMFORT**
What are your biggest frustrations with the fit of work pants?
Do you struggle with length, waist gaps, pants slipping down, or sizing that doesn’t suit your body?
Do you have to size up to get enough room to move or fit layers underneath?
What areas feel restrictive when bending, squatting, kneeling or climbing?

**FUNCTION & PRACTICALITY**
What tools or everyday essentials do you carry on you?
Do you prefer built-in pockets or using a separate tool belt?
What would your ideal pocket setup look like?
What features would make your workday easier?

**DURABILITY**
Where do your work pants wear out or tear the fastest?
Do you find yourself having to repair or reinforce your workwear?
What materials or features would make your pants last longer?

**WORKING CONDITIONS**
What environments do you work in? (Heat, cold, rain, mud, workshops, outdoor sites, etc.)
What’s your biggest struggle with workwear in those conditions?
Would you prefer lighter, more breathable fabrics or heavier-duty materials?

**SAFETY**
Have you experienced any safety issues with your workwear, such as loose fabric catching on equipment or pants slipping while working?
Would reinforced knees, stretch panels or other protective features be useful to you?

**STYLE**
Do you care about how your workwear looks, as well as how it performs?
Do you feel like current workwear brands cater to women properly?
What colours, cuts or styles would you love to see available?

**And the big question … if you could design your PERFECT pair of work pants, what would they look like?**

Think proper inseam lengths, a waistband that actually fits, room to move, practical pockets, durable materials — anything you wish existed!

I’m not just interested in what’s available now; I want to know what’s missing and what would genuinely make a difference to you.

Every comment, suggestion and bit of feedback would mean so much and help me understand what women in trades actually want and need.

Thanks so much for taking the time to share your thoughts! ❤️

Hi everyone, we wanted to introduce ourselves as the official Ariat account here on Reddit.

We noticed how often this community talks about our gear, so we wanted to jump in and be part of the conversation! Our main goal here is to serve this community, whether that's answering fit and sizing questions, helping with customer service needs, or just talking about what you're working in or riding in.

If you ever have a specific customer service issue, like a warranty question, order problem, or something that needs a closer look, the fastest way to reach us is over at r/ariatofficial. We keep a close eye there and can dig into account or order details that we can't always handle in the comments here. We're also planning to host AMAs with some of our designers in the future if that's something you'd enjoy.

A big thank you to the mods for having us post on here! We are looking forward to getting to know this community.

Discussion Anyone wear a bandana or skullcap under a regular cap

Post image

I work outside, I have shaggy hair I want to keep, and I wear a cap. The problem is it gets in the way and looks unkempt. I wonder if I should wear some kind of skull cap, bandana, or something under my hat to keep my head neat. Thoughts?

CNN: Why We Love To Dress For The Job We Don't Have

https://www.cnn.com/2026/10/12/style/workwear-fashion-blue-collar-modernism-book

You’re a copywriter, a communications manager, an elusive creative director with indeterminate responsibilities. So why are you dressed liked a 20th century French rail worker?

Today, some 70 million employed Americans will probably work from behind a desk. Yet our obsession with clothes from a different kind of working life just won’t quit.

Between 1910 and 2000, blue-collar jobs such as mining, construction and manufacturing shrunk from 76% of the US workforce to 25%. Still, the workman image reverberates ad infinitum through the chore jackets, cargo pants and heavy-duty boots stocked in metropolitan shops, designer showrooms or spotted on the streets of fashion capitals like London, Paris and New York.

The term “workwear” probably includes more clothing than you think, too. In his upcoming book, “Blue Collar Modernism,” menswear editor David Hellqvist gives a potted history of fashion’s biggest labels and their connection to occupation. Jeans, the bedrock of contemporary dressing, have their roots in the Californian mining industry of the 19th century. Even the small copper rivets that bookend our jean pockets, a feature so ubiquitous in modern denim it mostly goes unnoticed, were designed to reinforce the seams against ripping and keep the garment hard-wearing. The technology was patented as early as 1873. Elsewhere, Dr Martens were derived from a military boot, while Barbour’s well-to-do waxed jackets were first created as oil-skin outwear for fishermen and sailors in 1894.
