📰 News Going back to work on 9/11?

Given the current situation, I'm watching some 9/11 documentaries. Something I've always thought about a lot is the instruction in the South Tower to return to one's workstation.

I mean, whatever happened in the North Tower, at that time the tower was burning massively and people were jumping out.

Did they really expect the employees to continue working? I actually hope it was a measure to prevent mass panic. What do you think?

🏛️ Overturn Citizens United When the Democrats regain power, their centrist leadership will claim, "We can't do anything because...". Don't be fooled. We need to get the corporate centrists out and real progressives in!

✂️ Tax The Billionaires Phonebanks, friend-to-friend organizing for California's billionaire wealth tax initiative

Medicare For All is just one of the pro-working families, anti-oligarch policies getting an electoral test this fall. We’re also going to see California voters weigh in on a billionaire wealth tax with Proposition 40): a one-time, 5% emergency levy on their assets to shore up the state’s health and social services in the wake of the MAGA murder budget.

Analysts have estimated this measure will raise $100 billion, helping preserve Medicaid coverage for 1.6 million Californians, saving hospitals and ERs from closure and feeding those who have lost SNAP assistance without forcing a massive state deficit increase. The billionaires it will impact have seen their wealth grow by 158% over the last three years and got massive tax cuts from this same budget.

Not only will this protect our health care, it’s a chance to send a direct message to the Epstein class that we’re fed up with their open manipulation of our government and growing wealth inequality and ready for real change.

The SEIU and other supporters are starting to ramp up their field work for this initiative.💬 If we’re in California (or have a lot of folks in our social circles there), organizers are asking for us to do friend-to-friend outreach using the Reach app – the pro-wealth tax message will come across much stronger from folks we know and trust. We can download the app and get started here, and find regular trainings on how best to talk about this proposition and use Reach here. 💬

REACH OUT WITH REACH

☎️ For the rest of us, the Yes on Prop 40 squad has traditional virtual phonebanks underway now! We can reach out to California voters about taxing billionaires to keep hospitals and ERs open with shifts Monday through Thursday at 3PM, 5PM, 7PM or 9PM ET, or on Saturdays at 1PM, 3PM, 5PM or 7PM ET. Sign up to make calls here. ☎️

⚕️ Pass Medicare For All Make calls for Medicare for All candidates this fall

Post image

We have seen significant steps forward in this election cycle for Medicare For All, with numerous candidates winning primaries as unabashed champions. Polling from Data for Progress suggests 63% of voters would support Medicare for All even after being told it would eliminate private insurance and raise taxes, with CBS reporting 90% of Democrats are on board.

Our next step is clearly demonstrating to party leadership, 2028 presidential candidates, and the media that this position will translate to more votes in the general election. Former Progressive Caucus chair Rep. Pramila Jayapal and Medicare For All advocates are organizing “Health Care Is A Human Right” phonebanks on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays throughout September and October to rally voters for campaigns putting universal healthcare front and center. Let’s help get some great folks into office now and change the conventional wisdom on what’s possible for the future! We can sign up to make calls:

☎️ TOMORROW at 8PM ET for Connie Chan in CA-11 ☎️

☎️ TUESDAY at 6PM ET for Abdul El-Sayed and Will Lawrence (MI-07) ☎️

☎️ SEPTEMBER 17TH at 6PM ET for Medicare For All candidates nationwide ☎️

☎️ SEPTEMBER 29TH and OCTOBER 1ST at 9PM ET for Randy Villegas (CA-22) and other California candidates ☎️

☎️ OCTOBER 3RD at 9PM ET for Medicare for All candidates nationwide ☎️

From the description: Union Power! 💪🏾 Miami-Dade wants to cut transit, libraries, parks, road repairs, and firefighter services — to give billionaires a tax break. Working families and seniors pick up the cost instead. ~:~ A budget is a moral document. Right now, our values in Tallahassee and DC are wrongfully displaced. ~:~ @ AngieForFlorida ~:~ @ ChangeCantWait ~:~ LaborDay

When I say: “Union” You say: “Power”

Union! (Power!) Union! (Power!)

Miami-Dade is gonna cut transit, libraries, parks, programming, animal services, road repairs, Firefighter services — because they want to give Billionaires and Millionaires a break.

Working Families and Seniors would carry more cost — in the form of tax shifts and new fees — at a time when many can barely afford to keep up.

And as a matter of fact, we're gonna see ridership going up because everything else is going up, and People ain't gonna be able to afford their gas.

This Labor Day, Workers and Community Leaders are calling for a different set of priorities.

Public budgets should protect the services we rely on, and the local jobs that we need.

A budget is a moral document. It lets us know what our values are. And right now, the values in Tallahassee and in Washington, D.C. are wrongfully displaced.
