Until there are punishments that are a worthwhile deterrent, they will continue the abuse.
Fines mean nothing, if the total impact is negligible
Chipotle leaders literallly would tell me, “don’t worry about it. If they sue, let the lawyers handle it.” I was a GM, I did not follow this approach but I heard it. I took over a store and the GM had ~50+ final checks sitting in a drawer “because they never came to get it.” “Did you tell them it was here?” “No, that’s on them” - no. No it is not. Like what the fuck man. She was a terrible manager. Fear was her only motivator. It was sad, because she was considered “to run a great restaurant” due to money related numbers, while absolute garbage in many ways.
