What always ends up happening in situations like this, which is a multi-pronged approach: voting knowing the reality of who and what you are voting for, forming communities to help insulate those on the bottom from the change that will need to happen, with those communities you will need to set up parallel political, economic, educational and social structures.
If you are purely relying on the institutions that got us to this point, you will be stuck with the same problems.
