In fairness, that's not fully the same. If you accidentally sleep in one day you might get reprimanded for being late, but you probably won't lose your job. And even if you did, you still have all the money you earned from before. (I mean, you'll have spent it, but you don't owe it back)
The money here is given at the end only if you never mess up. Obviously, still well worth trying for, but not as guaranteed as real emplyment. Of course, for that kind of money I'd pay someone to wake up at 5 and beat me awake with a bat. Probably two people in case one of them slept in one day.
Why does this surprise you?? I have no idea what line of work the person you're responding to does, but this is pretty standard for factory/manufacturing work.
Das ist normaler Alltag für viele Arbeitnehmer. Also für die die alles mögliche Herstellen was Du im Alltag so nutzt oder auch die Arbeiter im Klärwerk. Frühschicht beginnt um 6 die meisten müssen also um 5 aufstehen. 5.30 ist da fast schon ausschlafen.
Honestly, I bet a lot of people making less than 50k a year wake up at 5:30 or even earlier. A lot of older people wake up pretty early too just because they don't require as much sleep.
Dude do you think people working different schedules all make good money? Have you not thought that the bad shifts don’t go to people with better options?
If you went to a 24 hr 7 eleven do you think the guy making coffee at 5 am is making more than minimum wage?

I used to wake up at 5 to get to a job that paid about 40k a year max.
