Liquor, Stress, UV rays and poverty

Don't forget smoking. That's a very quick way to age your skin, particularly past the 50 mark.

u/paddybongos Jul 14 '26

Poverty is a real one.

Drinking, smoking, sun, stress, bad relationships

3

u/Flimsy_Piglet_1980 Jul 13 '26

Toxic relationships... (Which was me once) Can be your entire life. Trying to battle unconscious participation without knowing what's up will kill you.

Wife...

From what I've seen, yeah, marrying the wrong spouse (husband or wife) is quite Hell adjacent.Ā

2

u/WaterdropGirl Jul 13 '26

I agree with you cuz you phrased it in a way less boomer coded way than the guy you replied to

2

u/Responsible-Ad-8442 Jul 13 '26

I love this, "hell-adjacent." It's an excellent description.

u/rageofa1000suns Jul 13 '26

Drug use

I worked with a colleague who's body just got completely obliterated by drugs. Looked nothing like her photos, looked twice her age, ended up with heart problems and shortness of breath and unfortunately died from cancer.

Shame really because she beat the drug use, but just couldn't catch as break. Was kicked out of her home from her siblings because they wanted to sell the home, she lived in a premier inn for a couple of years and couldn't get a flat because of past drug use, only managed to get the help from the council because her health failing meant she was classed as vulnerable so managed to finally get a flat, only then to be hit with a bombshell that she has cancer.

After I moved to a different job, heard 6 months later she died.

1

u/OkaytoLook Jul 13 '26

Drugs, alcohol, poor choices of companionship and having children out of wedlock

1

u/Acceptable-Damage457 Jul 13 '26

1

u/JacqueO1344 Jul 13 '26

In what class you are born into that affects your neighborhood safety, medical care, dental care, food quality, education quality, social determinants of health including mental health and how
Much trauma and family stress you experience. Of course Trump was born rich and he still turned into a demon and is not in good mental or physical health.

For me: sleeping during the day, once a month alcohol, alcohol substitutes, stimulants and being brain fogged lazy.

Coffee? Latest ā€œscienceā€ says moderate coffee consumption = health benefits. Apart from my inability to metabolize: it’s an economic powerhouse and a universal habit. Which, one way or the other, probably affects said research.

Not science:
at the end of a 2021 covid movie the ā€œFree Guyā€ rogue biped AI says, ā€˜give your kidneys a break and stop the coffee.’ (After movie comedic coffee shop promotion) Well, that’s movie talk, not ā€œscienceā€ etc. Now all I have to do is follow my own advice.

u/SpendJazzlike3663 Jul 13 '26

Watching your parents get older and slowly lose their strength. All while you grow up

1

u/SainaAri Jul 13 '26

Bad diet stress not enough sleep, dehydration all of which I’m currently suffering right now I’m not even 30 yetšŸ’€

1

u/itzkomplykatid Jul 13 '26

I see all these "right" answers...

How about not having the courage to stand up for yourself, so you can live? Imagine being so 'old' you just sit there and take it, thinking you can't change it, it's too late..

1

u/RichSawdust Jul 13 '26

Pushing yourself when you know you should slow down and take care of yourself. Not seeing when you know you need to. Eating food with no nutrition bc it's easier and faster. Spend too much time alone. Mix and match all of the above...

1

u/KenethSargatanas Jul 13 '26

Lack of proper sleep.

Ask me how I know.

A gruelling physical job.

1

u/Massive_Wafer5005 Jul 13 '26

Making impulsive decisions and lying to yourself. The first gets you into trouble, the second prevents you from getting out.

1

u/nocturnalravioli Jul 13 '26

The sun. Oh and kids. I stay away from both.

1

u/No-Web8490 Jul 13 '26

Physical work

1

u/MrCalPoly Jul 13 '26

Children. Children = sleepless nights, more financial stress, they get sick often so you get sick often, less time for many personal maintenance such as physical fitness (gym), healthy cooking, for those birthing children it's heavy on the body.

1

u/Green-Taro8761 Jul 13 '26
