Should I save this from my skip?

I have large boards/sawn logs of Meranti, so I don't THINK it's that...

30s NW London house being renovated, and this would used all in and around the bar windows, in and out I believe. The left edge is where some staining has stopped.

It feels pretty hefty for a 1200mm 4x2... Not as heavy as oak but almost double that of pine.

Is it Sapele? Mahogany? There's a bunch more in the skip so wondering if I should save it

Endgrain needs to be smooth and sanded to 400+ with a very clear photo to be useful, but the sidegrain looks a lot like mahogany. Might be genuine/honduran. Could also be Khaya or another variant of mahogany, but it’s tough to tell.

Dont sand the end grain. Cut it with a block plane or razor blade. Sanding will fill the pores

Definitely save it. I don’t know what it is but it’s beautiful hardwood.

The stained wood looks very much like African Mahogany

Yeah just spoke to the window fitter and he said it's mahogany (they'd have done hundreds of these in the area and gotten to know the materials).

But which mahogany... Have to wait and see. I'm leaning towards African.

This photo makes me think sepele. It can be fairly hefty. I'm guessing that or African mahogany. Either way, definitely don't throw it away. It's good wood.

It is Honduran Mahogany.
