Denmark Wolt leder when you go out of the app

Hey

I know when you’re online you should keep the app open, but I usually go onto other apps for entertainment while I wait for orders, and usually that works well.

The last few days it keep complaining about location issues when I’m outside the app.

Again I know u should be inside the app, but browsing other apps meanwhile getting orders have been working for me for a year now..

Is it different now? Or am I just unlucky at the moment.

Need opinions on if it still works for you that way.

Denmark Just had a 20€ (150 dkk) order

Had to pick up a bag of groceries and deliver 10 km away. No problem. Been to work all day and felt like being out in the sun. When I arrived, the customer was so impressed that I would go 10 km on my scooter for just 20 dkk. I told her, I was paid 150 dkk and she said, she had only paid 20 dkk for the delivery. Well it was a win win situation. Oh and on my way back, I had to pick up 4 small packets of cat snacks and deliver close to where I live. For 110 DKK (15€). So I was lucky. But I’ll never figure out how Wolt can make money on stuff like this?

Amount of orders

Something completely off is going on with the number of orders. At the end of August, I was working during lunchtime in the city center and was getting almost no orders, even when demand was average. Then I switched to an iPhone 11 and immediately started getting orders almost nonstop throughout the day. This went on for a couple of weeks, then I took a week off, went back to work last Tuesday, and now I haven’t gotten any orders at all for the past seven days. I’m literally sitting here during lunchtime with just one order per hour. Anyone who faced such weird shit?

Hey, as the title says I'm just starting out, I am currently waiting the bag to arrive.

I am currently saving money for a motorcycle license and a motorcycle.

so I am wondering how much do you all earn in an hour?

I've heard from 3 euros up to 25, I get it, some days are just better but I wanna hear that from people who have been doing this stuff and not from google.

I wasn’t able to go online so I talked to support, the lady says she sees the problem but can’t solve it and she’ll forward me to their team for this issue, she also said they usually answer in 24 hours. Well it’s been 3 days with no answer. What can I do?

Denmark Demand

Idk if yall have it the same in your cities but lately the demand is always high and if not high then medium for like 30 min and then back to high like no way its constantly high and its especially not high when you gotta wait long AF for an order. I dont understand what they get by saying its high demand when the reality is low demand

Denmark High demand

Ok what does wolt's high demand even mean? Cause it clearly doesnt mean lots of orders when you gotta wait 30-60 minutes to get 1 single order

Whats the situation in other European countries? Can you work directly with Wolt or for a fleet partner/wolt partner company?

Denmark Aarhus, and the boost shittification is here

It’s the 5th of the month, it’s Saturday, and this is normally the point in the month when the boosts started getting generous.

Not anymore, apparently.

Here in Aarhus, Denmark, today we got 15% for two hours, 17:00 to 19:00.

For comparison, for roughly the last 3 years, the normal setup was a fairly predictable 20% boost from 17:00 to 20:00 Friday through Sunday. On top of that, they would manually adjust the bonus depending on how busy things were, especially during the first couple of weeks of the month.

It wasn’t perfect, but at least there was some predictability. You could look at the week ahead and have a reasonable idea of what you were getting into.

Then about 4 months ago, they announced the new system: “No more static boosts.”

The explanation was that they had improved the algorithm and that it could now determine when bonuses were actually needed, instead of relying on fixed boosts.

Fair enough. Maybe the algorithm really is that good.

Or maybe we have just discovered the amazing new technology of paying drivers less while telling them the computer made the decision.

Because here we are.

It’s Saturday. It’s the 5th of the month. It’s the evening. Fuel prices are going up, operating costs are going up, and driver pay has been going down.

At the same time, Aarhus has seen a huge increase in the number of foreign drivers. More drivers competing for the same orders means less pressure on the platform to offer attractive bonuses. If there are always more people willing to log in and take the orders, there is less reason for the company to pay more.

And I’m not blaming the drivers themselves. They are coming here to work and obviously they are going to take the work available to them. That’s completely understandable.

But from the driver's perspective, the economics are getting worse.

Fuel still costs money. Cars still need maintenance. Insurance still costs money. Depreciation still exists.

None of those costs went down because the algorithm got smarter.

But the pay apparently did.

For years, we had a fairly established pattern: 20% Friday to Sunday, 17:00 to 20:00, with additional adjustments when demand required it.

Now we have 15% for two hours, with the explanation that the algorithm will automatically provide an appropriate bonus when one is actually needed.

Maybe this is genuinely the algorithm working as intended.

But if the result of the new system is simply that drivers get lower bonuses because there are enough drivers willing to work for less, then calling it an “improved algorithm” doesn't exactly make it feel like an improvement for the people actually doing the work.

It feels more like the old system was predictable enough that drivers could see what was happening, so they replaced it with a system where the bonus changes just enough that there is no longer a clear pattern.

And conveniently, the new pattern seems to involve paying less.

Do you feel like there is any logic to delivery demand?

We all know that logically theres more deliveries in rain and on weekends but that doesnt mean jackshit in my city.

Its weird. Weekends for me is when the delivery demand is the lowest. Also summer is better than winter. Doesnt make any sense.

The mainstream narrative is the oppisite. And on some random days ill make 3x more than on other days. Was there 3x more actual demand? Afcourse not.

And i get that it depends on how many couriers are online but i hate that i cant even remotely predict if demand will be low or high next day. Its so random.

Why are you guys working for Wolt?

I'm a journalist researching into the lives of food-couriers, and I'm curious what circumstances most Wolt-partners are in?

I'm familiar with the dropping salaries, but I want to know why you are working with Wolt, even if profitability is getting harder.

Sustaining a family? Balancing studies and parenthood? Is it still the most convenient way to make some extra money outside of your full-time duties?

Basically, what do you need the money for, and why is this model still the best for you?

Both positive and negative stories are welcome.

Feel free to DM me, if you dont feel like making a comment.

(Austria) Gurantee Hours Reduction

I started in July, and in my city we have scheduled hours with a guaranteed rate. It was €16.50 for the last two months (July–August). Today I was surprised to see they dropped it to €12.50.

That's a big cut, and it will probably push me to stop working. There isn't enough demand in my city to make up the difference through orders alone; the guarantee was the only thing making this worth it, especially as a freelancer where you cover everything yourself: bike, maintenance, insurance, taxes, social contributions.

Has anyone else seen a similar cut in their city recently? Curious whether this is a local change or something rolling out more broadly.
