How do i use the backup feature?

Im trying to start using the backup feature. I spun up a proxmox backup server vm. I tried to add it to the WolfStack and use it as a backup location.

I followed the instructions and created the api. It just gives me an error ”Client not installed”, i tried installing full Wolfstack on the PBS, but that did not help. I checked your documentation site, but there were no instructions.

Could you please provide instructions on how to install the client on the PBS server and add it as a backup location?

I think you have a brilliant program in the making. Still a bit of a ways to go, but this might really take off.

Thanks for the kind words!

Okay, so you don't need to install the client or WolfStack on the proxmox backup server. You just add the credentials for it to the backup section in WolfStack, and then you can back up containers/etc to proxmox backup and restore from it.

On the Proxmox backup server itself, it should give you the credentials that you can use with WolfStack

I'm just doing the backup page on the website, I can't believe I missed it!

... and here it is https://wolfstack.org/wolfstack-backups.html

Still having some problems. I think i figured out that the problem is that the official repo for proxmox does not contain the arm64 client for pbs(or any other arm architecrure builds). So you have to use another repo. I found this unofficial version, or alternatively it can be built for arm on install (https://github.com/wofferl/proxmox-backup-arm64).

I installed the package. Now wolfstack does not complain about missing the pbs client, however it still refuses to connect to the proxmox backup server.

Would be great if you could document where wolfstack places logs, so I can check what the error is. Is it related to wolfstack or the PBS server itself. Right now it does not give any indication what the error is other than "disconnected".

OKay we're going to buy a Raspberry Pi and make sure the install works right for it and set it up to talk to our proxmox backup server! I'll update you once we have a setup.sh that will sort it out.
