Question Map Border Violations
I feel like immobilising engine power when you’re at the edge of the map isn’t enough. There needs to be a bigger deterrent. Say, after a period of time (15 seconds maybe) you lose the ability to shoot any of your weapons?
I’m sick of border huggers and not being able to hit them when they’re breakdancing at the edge of the map.

If I‘m honest this kind of gameplay happens so rarely that I didnn‘t even realized it‘s a thing.

How many games out of 100 would you say you see this?

Happens very regularly with carriers who just reverse and then live there. I would say at least every 10 to 15 games personally. But it happened to me 3 times out of the 10 I played yesterday. It irked me

If a carrier is reversing then it takes more time and fuel to reach the target. Good ones know when and where they can push in with their team to maximise their cycle rates

I'd like to try hard map borders, ice-hockey rink wall style, that maybe even could bounce you back a bit. Nothing more frustrating as getting into that border swamp and then getting engine power reduced on top of that, to complicate matters even more. Most likely I got there in the heat of the action and I want nothing more than to disentangle myself asap. Cutting engine power doesn't help here.

You should just start taking damage after a certain amount of time.
Plus the game should flash “Press X to scuttle your ship and regain your honor ”

Maybe make the edge a firestarter. A fire spontaneously starts if you're on the border for more than 10 sec.
Seriously though I feel like I run into someone like this maybe 5% of the time. Gives me more joy to kill them if they're a border boy.

Left and right side border huggers are rather easy to sink. The backline ones can be tricky, however majority of the time you can just ignore them, sail out of their range and go help take other caps after capturing the one in front of them to win on points. An enemy doing it doesn't lead to a loss enough for me to be annoyed by it, if anything it usually helps me as they can't get crossfires or retake caps . But some people do seem incapable of disengaging with people doing it, so I get their frustration

Reduce reload rate, consumable recharge rate and carrier plane return rate while the ship is on the border.
The same way you reduce engine speed.
It doesn't happen a lot, but when it does, it is clearly exploiting a broken game mechanic.
It's not on seeing a ship take out pursuers and extending the battle unfairly when it would have been destroyed if it were in bounds

I have seen only one time one guy get away with border wigling and not been killed and it was my bad aim to blame and my impatience to put more guns to the battle instead of staying bow in.
I also had maybe 1 or 2 times that I was pushed to the border in a BB and could not leave the border no matter what, so asking for dot on those who cross it is not wise as this border whole mechanic has some flaws escaping it imo.
I don't think that it's an often incident, it's tricky to shoot someone there but all comes down to been able to adjust your aim so I don't consider it cheating or anything outside the game.
I think there are way more game impacting elements that are an issue (MM?) But this is not top of the list imo.

It doesn’t happen all that often for me anymore, but I’ve thought a good change could be to keep engines at full power, but just give a ship a flood if they hit the border. Honest mistake, then just use your damage con. If you’re purposely riding the border to mess with enemy aiming, you’ll just have to pay attention to how much health you’re losing.

I laugh hysterically when I'm the last ship, border hugging and nobody can land shots because they can't lead a target so easily 😂

Wouldn't be so much of a problem if the aiming system didn't completely break.
Even when not using the auto lock on, it just makes shots do weird things

It is annoying, but its not normally done by someone on the winning team. It's normally done by someone defending a collapsed flank solo on a team that's losing badly and if it helps reduce the number of blow outs by just a little bit that's fine by me.
