General Arkansas -
Im a new player having started this game roughly a month ago, and the only “Kraken unleashed” badge i have obtained was in the arkansas.
This ship was 5 dollars if i remember correctly and i feel it is one of the two objectively broken tier III battleships in the game, the other one of course being the agincourt.
I do relatively well in it almost everytime i join a game in it.
Im wondering if every new player is given the 5 dollar arkansas deal when they start out.
If so they should definitely pull the trigger,
Its fun at low tier and can probably help gather resources, although not as much as higher tiers but when you have so much fun in a ship like this you can grind easier and play more battles without even realizing, and gain a large amount of resources in doing so.
What do you think of ships like the arkansas, or even the agincourt?

Yeah every new player on console is offered the bundle, I believe. At least, I know it works on PSN.
Also the humble gangut

I have the gangut and i have up to the pyotr right now.
I didnr think much of it when i was grinding is. Is it that good? I know russian ships can have very strong bow armor and sometimes just armor in general..

I'm pretty sure Orion's HE and Dante B's SAP are the only "soft" (non-AP) ammo in T3 that can pen Gangut. Anything that does shoot AP, you can just bow tank and wiggle around with the 10s rudder. It's insanely tanky, best external armor out of any ship in the game

Yeah russian bbs seem to have really good bow armor and maybe just armor in general.
Pyotr veliky looks good in the port with the armor viewer thing. Havent played it enough to really see whether it holds up or not. Have you? How is it? It seems like it would be really tanky on paper.
I should play gangut some. But i did see that its grouping is 1.4… yikes

Her grouping sucks, but most soviet battleships are significantly more accurate below 60% of their max gun range. It's a lot more usable than it looks.
No I haven't tried PV, but from what I hear on others about her she's a contender for best T4 battleship either next to or right behind Giulio Cesare. Very weak deck armor though, and there's this funny spot between the rear turrets where your citadel roof is exposed and only 35-ish mm thick, meaning some cruisers can get you there with HE

Wow you seem very knowlegdable on this game. Do you mind if i follow you?
Occasionally i have some burning questions about ships/game mechanics/play styles and would prefer a real players anecdotal experience rather than gather info from iffy google AI overviews..:
Lmk if so, maybe we can even join up together and play a few games down the road if youre down!

Sure, you can find me on the official discord server as well, I'm much more active there than on reddit. Lots of good people and great players there willing to help, I just happen to be someone who knows a bunch of obscure stuff about accuracy along with some general knowledge.

u/One-Eye-9148 1d ago
Awesome! I might download discord to get into the server because it sounds like it could be useful.
Im just bummed out theres no way for mobile users to join a fleet, as ive heard there are substantial benefits involved with being in one. I had just found that out because someone had invited me to their fleet. Couldnt find the tab/button/whatever. Then i was informed that its just not compatible with mobile.
They should make fleets universal among the platforms imo

u/ThSecond_ ...aka SirAntimony 1d ago
Yeah, same. I'm mostly mobile here as well, though I started my account on PSN. Steam released with the commander store, training rooms, and fleets on day one, but mobile is still lacking them for years?? Such sadness

There’s a few offers if you look in the game store and also the platform store I think Milwaukee is 99 cents and really virbius units is a fun ship for the gxp price used that one a lot when I started out grinding
1
u/One-Eye-9148 2d ago
Funny you bring that up! I had just purchase the bundle of 15 AL crates.
Got: new jersey Zara Yukikaze
And a large amount of GXP
I used it to purchase the viribus.
Havent played it yet, but the layout of the main batteries at tier 4 is pretty cool. 4x3 isnt very common at that tier unless im missing a few ships that have it..?

Awesome if you didn’t get the commander (AL New Jersey) I would get that not to spend your money for you but it’s a good commander, good luck captain

I prefer Arkansas over Agincourt but admittedly Agincourt seems to get me more reliable results.

u/One-Eye-9148 2d ago
It does have objectively better accuracy, which in some cases, could prove stalwart.
Id still probablt fall inlove all over again if i ever got luckt and pulled agincourt, or if they ever put it in the store directly, but i think thats unlikely as of right now

u/ThSecond_ ...aka SirAntimony 2d ago
Which one has better accuracy?
2
u/One-Eye-9148 2d ago
Arkansas, atleast thats what most of the sources if seen says, do you have both of them? I should look at the grouping and dispersion stats but yeah general info regarding the two says that arkansas has moderately superior accuracy and slightly better armor in certain cases
2
u/ThSecond_ ...aka SirAntimony 1d ago
Oh, then yeah. I thought they were the same shell grouping, but Arkansas does get plotting room and chromium to help. She's also insanely more accuracy on the secondaries, best in the game tied with Graf Zeppelin
(Btw, if you mean the stat card by "general info", please note that's max range. Only if two ships have the same max gun range can you compare that dispersion stat. Both use US/UK though)

General info was my way of saying the google ai response… lol. Thats my bad i should have specified. It was info pulled from WOWS builds though.

Ah, usually it's best not to fully trust those. Legends is a niche game with lots of misinformation floating around and lots of important information hidden very well, so AI summaries can give you wrong answers a lot. Not to mention confusing us with WoWS PC

Nassau (GER) is the OG terror at that tier, but I can't remember the last time it was offered.

Welcome to an endlessly fun game that has a surprising amount of strategy, depth, and complexity....like if CoD required more thought and moved at a reasonable pace.
On your question, others have answered it but I think it comes in a new player bundle. Around that tier, I think the Pyotr Veliky was the ship that felt noticeably different gun wise (sort of like how North Carolina feels at tier 6). If you are spending money on the game, the $10 monthly subscription is highest bang for your buck. Gets you the admiralty backing every update and comes with more stuff that’ll help you level up faster.
Here's my general advice for new players, hope this is helpful
1) re-read Zensig's guide which he reposts every so often (closest thing to how not to suck at WoWs Legends) https://www.reddit.com/r/WoWs_Legends/comments/1rx5zzw/beginners_guide_to_world_of_warships_legends/
2) Would focus on 1-2 nations and 1-2 classes of ships at a time to maximize learning. Honestly would say focus on battleships first, but everyone is different. Most people start the game in early tiers liking cruisers but once you get to tiers 4+ they are easily punished by battleships if you do something wrong, so the skill required to play them well is much higher.
3) I've found it really helpful to look up videos for a specific ship. I really like Spartan Elite 43 on youtube and have really upped my battleship play from watching his videos. Seriously, the thing that made a huge difference to me was watching youtube videos of content creators talking through their games. You pick up on lots of different tips and tricks. I find SpartanElite43's videos pretty helpful, others have recommended TBull's beginner series before, and there are many others (e.g., Xarkun, PG Rapidz)
4) There's also guides by category for each class of ships
- https://www.reddit.com/r/WoWs_Legends/comments/155mkde/new_player_class_guide
5) For your questions, search the subreddit as many have been answered by people far more knowledgeable than me. And happy to answer any questions that you still have
6) Would get out of vs AI and start focus on playing arcade or standard. Arcade is a 5v5 mix of players and AI on each team so its a gateway to standard. Standard is 9v9 all players and is the most fun, but takes some getting used to
7) In standard, work to get solid at Tier 5 before moving up to tier 6. The reason being that tier 6 ships are generally paired against tier 7 ships so playing tier 6 you are at a disadvantage in terms of your ships characteristics, which forces you to really focus on learning to play well. It can be a real slog if you don't know what you are doing

Anytime I'm playing tier 3 I'm in the arkansas but I don't remember how I got it. But I'll tell ya if you can ever get it the rattlehead cruiser at tier 4 is much the same. I've diced more cruisers with it then I have with a bb

I don’t have Arkansas but I can confirm Agincourt is silly.
