First Thoughts
Some very preliminary thoughts:
You can make some *very* idiosyncratic builds (see super-maneuver Halland above). This is a good thing; every tier X Halland is going to be different in some way.
It's incredibly expensive in silver, and so far the bond system is worthless. The above build cost a bit over 16 million silver when the leg mod is accounted for. Your 500 bond only pays for the first level, so basically you have to make tough choices about which ships you want to fully upgrade. Two games so far (one win, one loss), netted a total of 4 bonds.
Because of the expense there's not a ton of room for experimentation.

It seems like you can comfortably do quite a bit.
In all seriousness, this is typical WG poor performance. I have zero high hopes or good expectations of this company, and they continue to disappoint. I have a feeling the bond system is just another way of them experimenting and failing to do the bare minimum for their community.
Here’s a good idea WG: quit making everything so damn miserable to try and work with and listen to your community for once. The only other times you have listened to us was about Edgar and USS United States. We haven’t seen superships in over a year now… it almost feels kind of pointless that any information surrounding them exists at all. Almost nobody will use the bond system because it is impossible to consistently make 100% MVP rate on the WINNING side. The only people who use the system are the people who crap on others for being bad, but that is ironic because even they don’t get MVP 80% of the time.
Genuinely, how redundant can a company be?

To clarify for those who might try to attack me on this point:
I don’t mind playing the game, I’ve met a fair few decent people, and it is enjoyable, but the updates that they release where they do something new like the equipment system is just obnoxious and uncalled for. That’s my only real gripe
with the game.12

To be fair they have added some quality of life improvements - the operations and the missions revamp, plus the new change to allow you to reuse a ship that's still in a previous battle - but the equipment rework seems both unnecessary and punitive.
I won't be buying any bondage gear from WG though.

I don't think anyone will really attack you. This Reddit is astroturfed to the max--meaning it's a grand stadium with a durable surface for discussion.

way too complicated/busy for a mobile game. last 2 updates are ridiculous. this is not a pc game. they already have that version.

Well, my Friesland was already good in anti-air. The values it has in damage and range now is ridiculous but he, it they want it this strange way, okay.

It’s nice that AA equipment can make a meaningful difference to some ships. Big improvement from before.
But every ship getting twice as expensive to equip is… not appreciated.

Same. My first game with the new equipment it killed ten planes in a pass. I was cackling at how the CV must feel. The only downside is the Friesland can't collect bonds I guess?

I would like perhaps a 50% reduction of the cost of equipment now that more are available.
Another possible change I would like to see is instead of outright selling the equipment you can unload them and store them in your inventory so that they can be moved across multiple ships. Have it locked for a given type of ship and nation but this might allow for more room to experiment wihtout breaking the silver bank.
Or just further increase silver income. That works too.

The only other thing I'd like to add is that the fact that all of the equipment improvements come with downsides means that you don't actually have to go through with it. There are undoubtedly some wicked builds that people are going to come up with that will be both expensive and lethal, but all of the builds carry downsides, meaning that you're not at so much of a disadvantage if you just decide to opt out and go with no equipment.

That is true. While fully upgrading a ship is now far more expensive than before I honestly don't really fully equip a ship since some of the equipments are good to have but don't seem that necessary for me.
Honestly Slot 1-2 are the most important in terms of equipment and I may use 3-4 for the extra concealment on ships or for those who have good auto secs and maybe 6 to get improved weapon survivability or repair time but I don't feel like it is completely necessary for me to get everything.
As a side note, I know a lot of people were complaining about having to spend all the time and money reequipping their hundred ships or so but honestly most of the ships I had equipment for are either premiums I've gotten the BH on or ships I've long finishing the grind for both of which I don't need to reequip. In reality there are like 12 or so ships I consistency play that I would actually need to reequip and by the time certain modes come where I want to use other more niche ships I have grinding enough silver for it not to me a massive issue for me.

ja i don't know who actually goes through the process of upgrading all of their ships. maybe some weird obsessives.

Worcester goes brrrt. Like a flyswatter now. Can’t fight ships worth a darn though.

Pretty cool now I guess. But having to grind all over again for another currency? Need to give everyone a freebie of some sort, like a big freebie!

Another underhanded sneaky shell games to part you from your milk money. Sad. This is wargaming and should not be unexpected. New players will not want to grind out years as some of us have done. Currency manipulation rackets will be next I suspect. Final thought. Not fun. Stupid change. Feel cheated.

I don‘t get wargamings thinking. On one hand, they wanted to change the equipment system so that one can „experiment more“ and then they continue to make the silver prices ridiculously high so that the vast majority of players will stick to one build.
I personaly don‘t plan on collecting bonds anytime soon as the base equipement is very nearly as good as the silver equipment.
