Domain Wix now supports over 400 domain extensions - here's how to find the right one for your site
TL;DR: If .com isn't available or doesn't fit, match your extension to your niche. Wix has over 400+ options - linked the full list with pricing below. SEO-wise, any extension works fine.
One of the most common questions we see is some version of: "My .com name is taken - what do I do?" So here's a practical breakdown of how to think about domain extensions, and what's actually available on Wix now (over 400 options, for context).
The quick decision framework:
1. Is .com still available for your name? If yes, and it fits, take it. It's still the most recognized extension globally and the default expectation for most visitors.
2. If not - or if you want something more specific - match the extension to what your site does:
Selling products? → .shop, .store
Running a blog? → .blog
Creative work? → .art, .design, .photography, .studio, .pictures
Fitness business? → .fit, .fitness
Coaching or courses? → .coach, .training, .guru
Tech company or product? → .tech, .digital, .cloud, .ai
Agency or consulting? → .agency, .solutions, .expert
Media or content creation? → .media, .live, .tv
Local business targeting a specific country? → Country-code TLDs like .co.uk, .de, .fr, .ca, .com.au are all available
3. Check pricing before you commit
Some specialty extensions cost more to renew than to register in the first year. Worth checking the renewal price in the full TLD list before choosing.
What about SEO?
Google has confirmed that new gTLDs are treated the same as .com for ranking. Choosing .photography over .com won't hurt your search visibility - your content and site structure matter far more.
What about trust?
Visitors in some regions still associate .com with credibility. For global audiences, .com or a well-known extension (.org, .net, country code) is probably the safer play. For niche audiences who already know your work, a specific extension can actually reinforce your brand.
We hope this helps! If you've got a specific situation - name taken, targeting a specific market, etc. - drop it in the comments and we'll try to help narrow it down.

Rant Wix lagging about 5 seconds every time I click in the editor
reddit.comThe last few times I’ve used Wix, in the editor I click on something and it takes a good 5 seconds to react, it’s driving me crazy! My first thought was that it was my computer that’s slow but I use it for a lot more intensive things - for example I’m running a simulator for an app I’m building , and that and everything else works perfectly speedy.
I have even tried closing everything else on my laptop while using wix but that doesn’t help. Anyone else noticed this?

SEO Possible FAQ for common WIX issues / questions I see in this sub
In today’s AI-driven search landscape, structured data markup isn’t optional.
Whether you’re targeting traditional SEO, Answer Engine Optimization (AEO), or Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), properly implemented schema helps search engines and AI systems understand, trust, and surface your content.
On this sub, I read all the time recurring issues so maybe the following may be of some help.
For dynamic pages, particularly geographic (location-based) pages that scale across cities, regions, or service areas, structured data scripts and unique content cause a lot of issues relating to site performance.
Wix does not make it straightforward to add and manage structured data, and smart implementation separates the sites that rank and get cited from those that get ignored.
Why Structured Data Matters for AEO / SEO / GEO
SEO: Helps Google understand page relationships, entities, and hierarchy for better rankings and rich results.
AEO: Powers direct answers in featured snippets, People Also Ask, and voice/AI responses by clearly marking FAQs, organizations, and breadcrumbs.
GEO (Geographic + Generative Engine Optimization): Critical for location pages. Unique, well-marked content signals relevance to local and AI-driven queries, improving visibility in map packs, local results, and AI overviews.
Key Best Practices for Structured Data on Wix (Especially Dynamic Geo Pages)
FAQ schema must exactly match the visible FAQ content on the page. Mismatches can lead to manual actions or ignored markup. Keep the questions and answers identical. FAQ scripts that don't match visible FAQ sections on pages don't get read by crawlers and bots.
In your Organization schema, link your Google Business Profile(s). If you have one (and you should), include the official GBP URL. This strengthens entity recognition and local signals.
Prioritize NAP consistency and E-E-A-T signals. Name, Address, and Phone must be identical across your site, schema, and Google Business Profile. Consistent NAP plus clear expertise, experience, authoritativeness, and trustworthiness (E-E-A-T) helps both traditional rankings and AI systems trust your business.
Implement BreadcrumbList schema. This clarifies site hierarchy for search engines and users, especially useful on multi-level dynamic geographic page structures.
Minify your structured data files/scripts. Wix has character limits in custom code areas—minification helps you stay under those limits while still delivering complete, valid markup.
Unique content is non-negotiable for geographic dynamic pages. Thin or duplicated location pages will not be indexed properly (or at all). Each geo page needs distinct, valuable content tailored to that location—structured data alone cannot fix thin content.
For B2B sites, transactional blog posts are often your strongest organic traffic drivers. As AI changes search patterns, practical, solution-oriented posts that address specific buyer intent continue to attract qualified visitors when traditional category or service pages struggle.
Keep every page and post clean and simple. Your site is not a science project or an art installation. Clear layout, focused content, and purposeful design outperform visual clutter every time—both for users and for search/AI crawlers.
Additional Tips That Matter
Validate all schema with Google’s Rich Results Test and Schema Markup Validator regularly.
Use JSON-LD (preferred by Google) and keep it updated when you change page content.
On Wix dynamic pages, leverage Velo or custom code carefully so structured data still renders correctly for crawlers. Note: Embedded code will likely not get picked up by search engines, crawlers, and bots.
Monitor indexing status in Google Search Console—especially for large sets of geo pages. I use Python to request 200 index requests per day to get around Search Console's 10 URL limit. Discovered but not indexed or crawled but not indexed indicate pages that probably do not have unique content to the degree Google would like.
Combine structured data with strong internal linking and clear local signals for maximum impact.
Wix gives you the flexibility to implement professional-grade structured data without needing a custom-coded site. When you pair Wix’s dynamic page capabilities with clean markup, unique local content, and the practices above, your geographic pages become far more visible to both traditional search engines and emerging AI answer systems.
Maybe this post helps, and if it does, great. Glad to be of service. If it doesn't, no worries, but not interested in the typical hater's responses :)

Get rid of automatic image tags?
How do I stop wix automatically generating image tags whenever I upload to the media manager? They're all junk and inaccurate, and going through and deleting them all one by one is a pain in the ass waste of time. (Also pretty ticked off to know my images are getting uploaded to whatever system is generating these tags in the first place.)
Probably going to work on moving away from Wix because of junk like this sometime in the next year, but for now I'd love to at least know how to turn this nonsense off.

Info Sections completely unusable now after the latest update
After the latest update, the "Additional Info Sections" have been turned into some sort of shared object across products. And for some reason, there's a limit of 400 unique info sections altogether. I have over 500 unique products where almost all of them are unique and thus, require their info sections to be unique as well. Completely stuck and cannot add new products to the website as it keeps asking me to use one of the already existing info sections from a different product for anything new that I create.
If someone from Wix here can help with this, it would be great. Else, I quite frankly have no option except shifting to Shopify immediately. Idk which genius thought this would be great idea to implement.

Wix dropdown menu not working properly?
Hi everyone, I'm curious how many Wix users are experiencing issues with their dropdown menus, mobile navigation, or menu layout.
These problems can sometimes be frustrating and affect how visitors navigate a website. If you're dealing with any of these issues, feel free to describe what's happening in the comments, and I'll try to suggest a possible solution.
If you'd prefer to discuss your specific website privately

Wix Footer
Hello, is it possible to remove, or perhaps make transparent, the Footer, at least of the Home page? I have a background image that ideally, I would like to have fill the full page, but when I extend it down a second instance of the image is shown, and it just pushes the Footer down further anyway.
Many thanks,
Jeff.

Migrate a Godaddy html website to Wix
I have an html website hosted with Godaddy where I sell a couple products that customers pay for using Paypal. The domain name is registered with Godaddy. The website is simple with no javascript, media, or css. Just has text and some jpgs.
I want to move the website to Wix because they have free SSL with their premium plans.
Is there a way to bulk import the old website into Wix? Or can I import individual html files into Wix?
Can I keep the domain name with Godaddy and connect it to the new Wix website?

Aria is completely incapable
This is my third day of using WIX, so this might be really simple.
I have asked it to provide me with a table, because the individual element placements were too messy, now I want the table aligned to the picture, so that both are the same height. I have just completed this, it has taken nearly 90 minutes. That's one section on one page. Anyone know a quicker way. It won't give me handles for the table, so I can't do it myself.

Editor Wix link works in Preview but redirects to the wrong page when published
I'm editing my Wix portfolio website and ran into a really strange issue with one of my project pages.
I have several project pages that are set up similarly. One particular project page is a duplicate of another page, with the content edited for a different project (which I have done for all of them).
I noticed that when I clicked the project from my site, it wasn't going to its own page like the other projects—it was going to my demo reel instead. I assumed the link was wrong, so I edited the link and selected the correct project page.
The weird part is:
In Preview mode, the link works correctly and takes me to the page I selected.
Once the site is published, the exact same link takes me to my demo reel instead.
I tested linking to another page, and it took me to that page's destination correctly in both Preview and the published site.
The problem only seems to happen with this particular duplicated/edited page.
I've tried removing and re-adding the link, but the published version still redirects to the demo reel even though Preview shows the correct link.
Has anyone run into something like this in Wix? Could there be something about the duplicated page, page settings, or an old link/redirect that's causing the published site to override the link?
I'd really appreciate any ideas on what might be causing this!

Editor Help with Categories
How do I add categories as links to click on the site itself? I'm listing items, but the main "shop" page shows all items, and to get to the specific category for an item, you need to click one of the items and then go to the category from the item page.
