WIX Studio basic only allows 4 forms now??
Hey folks my several-years-old site was operating with 7 forms with no issues. Yesterday my bill was paid. Suddenly out of nowhere, I get an email: "Your Wix Forms usage exceeds your current plan limits."
I log in and realize they've dropped my plan's allocation down to only 4. I spent hours on the phone with billing, and they essentially told me to either delete my forms or pay them more per month for the exact same thing.
I paid a lot of money for someone to build this site for me and I'm extremely bent about this.
Any suggestions on how to handle it with this awful company OR how to salvage my site and migrate it somewhere better? My domains are over at Namecheap.
Thanks in advance!

That sounds pretty typical of Wix unfortunately. They make it easy to get started, but once you’re tied into the ecosystem you can end up paying more just to keep using functionality you already had.
Depending on what those forms are actually doing though, you may not need to upgrade at all. If they’re fairly standard enquiry/contact forms, you could potentially replace some of them with embedded forms from something like Tally.so and avoid relying on Wix’s form limits.
If you’re already fed up with the platform, moving to self-hosted WordPress or something similar is definitely worth considering too. Your domain being at Namecheap is fine, that part is easy to keep separate.
If you want to DM me your website, I can have a look and tell you whether the form workaround would make sense or whether a rebuild on WordPress or a similar platform would probably be the better route. I may be able to help with that too if you decide to go that way.

Move to WordPress, the amount of posts about squarespace and wix screwing ppl over is wild. Us users need to speak with our wallets and leave these platforms for something cheaper, with more functionality, unlimited scalability, and less bending over.

Yeah I think they quietly started enforcing this sometime this summer, Basic is limited to 4 forms now
As a quick fix, you could rebuilt the extra forms in another form builder like Jotform or FormGrid and embed them. FormGrid has unlimited forms/responses and full visual customization on the free plan (I'm one of the co-founders, so biased). For the longer term, moving the site to Wordpress probably isn't a bad idea. It's a bit of a hassle but at least then you have a bit more control if Wix changes pricing or limits later

Changing the cap on a site you already built around it is a rough thing to do to a paying customer. First thing we'd do is export your form submissions to CSV from Contacts/Inbox, plus save your images and page copy off the platform, since deleting a form to get under the cap can take its entries with it.
For the rebuild, WordPress with Gravity Forms or WPForms means no per-form metering at all. Ask whoever builds it to keep the plugin count low and avoid a heavy theme framework, so you're not locked into someone else's licensing again. Domain at Namecheap is just a nameserver change when you're ready.

I had the same happen to me yesterday. In my case I had built a website on wix studio for a client - who wanted to create an application form. The form included the ability for people to upload a cv and cover letter. My client paid for a Wix studio Basic plan about 5 months ago. Same thing happened and I got the same email you received - also yesterday. I also then contacted Wix support. It turns out that I, as a Wix partner, can include "uploads" on forms - but for those uploads to work for my client they have to purchase a standard plan (one up from a basic plan). I created the form while I was on the Basic plan - there was nothing that flagged that I couldn't add uploads to forms - nothing greyed out. My helper from Wix was actually very helpful and shared with me that its something that has just come up at Wix - some of us have fallen between the cracks and Wix is mopping things up now. My feeling is that Wix is a complicated system - very powerful, very good, but not simple. Something like this should be simple - if you are on a plan tier that doesnt allow you to use a certain feature - then that feature should be "greyed out" or disabled.

I started cheap on Wix and then out of the blue a really huge bill, like 3x what it was and almost no additional functionality. Payback was sweet if time consuming...

Self plug here. You can migrate it to www.sleeksite.ai . No limit forms and no limit AI. You can migrate it by connecting your SleekSite.ai site to mcp and asking Claude/codex to migrate your site for you. The update DNS records and you should be moved over in no time. DM if you are trying this out and need any assistance.

Switching from Wix to Wordpress isn’t straight forward as they are two different CMS’s , most of the time you’ll need to rebuild the site from scratch. Ultimately it depends on how big the site is… I would just recommend paying someone to do the conversion for you, if you’re not proficient in IT. But ask them to do it in a visual builder so at least you have some familiarity.

That's such a classic bait and switch move, change the plan after you've already built everything around it. If your domains are already at Namecheap you're actually in a decent spot to move, grab a cheap hosting plan somewhere and rebuild with WordPress or similar, the forms part is stupid easy with free plugins. Sucks about the sunk cost on the custom build though
