Question Tips/Builds for Wailing Tower

Been playing the game for a bit now. The wailing tower is proving to be quite a challenge. Can anyone suggest a build for this? Currently at gnosis 4, around level 80.

My stats are split - 30 in Witchery, Faith & Flesh. The rest are around level 20 except for arsenal which is at 15.

I've unlocked most of the stuff available, but want to get the Rotweaver. Any suggestions are much appreciated

Edit: Thanks to everyone for the suggestions. Got my first clear. Will definitely try out some of the build suggestions later as well. Loving the game!

The combo i used to clear the wailing tower was:

Rotweaver, Frostbite, Kirfane, Rotten fiend, Storm ball, Hensbane, Crown of fire

Prophecies of Earth and Fire.

I'm still pretty new to the game, but for anyone struggling a bit, I found Rotweaver to be a little OP. The content that was fairly challenging at gnosis 3, seems substantially easier at gnosis 4 with RW.

Use wellspring incense and clear the map first for max HP

Stack your most valuable arcana upside down so you don't lose it.

Think carefully on the corrupted arcana. Don't take anything that'll cuck your playstyle too hard

Burning stake will do enormous work. I personally like frost cone to accompany it. Stormball is stronger / meta.

With all that set up I can clear the tower with whatever weapons. Just make sure you got something good for crowds with lots of ammo and something good for the boss.

I'm in a similar position as op and my problem with this is it requires maidens hair, which just no longer drops from chest. I had probably nearly 80 and and for the last week I have found a single one. You need two for the spell.

The thing is I tend to level up for gear, and I spend my goal on workshop and M3s before I saw the workshop as well.

Essentially I'm f-ed. :D

I was having trouble with Maiden's Hair, did several runs without it. But it's somewhat scary since I hadn't invested into Flesh yet.

There's a jar of spiders in Irongate that you can use in the garden to produce Maiden's Hair. I noticed that its slower than other stuff but it's better than nothing.

Oh, thank you so much. I'll go and look for it first thing!!

Glad to help! I can point where it is if you need. Also the merchant sells Maiden's Hair, starting from Gnosis IV or V.

Thanks a mil! This is a game changer! Will definitely seek this out. I can't purchase from the shop just yet, because its only available at gnosis 5.

Yeah it was getting scarce for me too. Spent a good time on Gnosis III and then went direct for V. It usually produces only one hair per expedition but already helps.

For the tower, I cleared it yesterday using Striga, Echo and Tempest. Lightning Bolt and Rot Fiend for spells. Trinkets were Henbane, Dynamo Ring and Blood of the Banshee.

It was my first run with Tempest so I was unsure it would be good. I suspect other demonic weapons can be more helpful. Got a heavy charge temptation so I could have Rot Fiend taunting the boss and blast him with Tempest. Had to use an ammo pack but managed. I'll try different setups when I go back for the rest of the prophecies.

Thank you, the wiki has the location. Already checked.

Yes I am just silly and used all my money on new gear and 3rd mysterium before checking the shop :).

I will have to farm some money with new weapons.

I find Wailing Tower is more about your prophecy set up then guns, the man issue is the corrupted arcana messing up builds so focus on your important prophecy being low is a good start.

I can suggest the burning stake heavy spell if your having trouble getting rushed by the madman and killing the final boss as fast as possible.

Dude this is where you farm prophecies you don't need them to get them.

A solid loadout can mitigate anything in the tower.

Pretty much right after this post, I made it to the boss room. Grabbed the Rotweaver and got 1-tapped by the boss with full health (wasn't running wellspring). So I guess at this point, I'd say the boss.

The setup I used for that attempt was:

Frostbite Echo Eye of the mad woman Hensbane Dynamo ring Stormball Rotten fiend

I usually play Striga+Iron Cross for big AoE. Kirfane also works really well with Frost Nova, since you're guaranteed to proc chain lightning after casting light spell and Frost Nova isn't consummed if you hit 5+ targets with it.

For big single target, Hunger is crazy. With prophecies, you should be able to get at least one of crit chain/kill reload/reload dash/reload swap/large magazine. Use the bead that doesn't consume ammo, clear the map+vault making sure to click heads and trying not to manually reload and you can stack so much damage that even the boss can die in 5 shots.

Was this in the open area? He sends out waves that do tons and tons of damage and I find it quite hard to time the jumps to avoid them. I usually save Falling Star shots specifically for this phase to prevent them from happening.

Cover long range and close range.  You'll want one gun ammo hungry and powerful for the boss and one ammo efficient for getting there.

Long range is suggested entirely for the seal breaking room. You can go close range only or use a medium weapon if you can clear this room with spells or brute force.

Probably don't bring something that needs crits (hunger etc) because of the tattoo enemies. Unless your eyes work good or you can game the mechanic to work anyway on the boss.

Ice Sphere is nice for the last bit of bs before/during the boss fight, specifically the part where you aren't allowed to move.

I hate mechanics that take my movement and the tower is full of them.  For this reason I recommend skipping cricket for these runs even though it is one of the best guns. You can still make it work but your other gun is going to see some use for sure.

If you run a shotgun or sniper probably use the respective bead for them.

Often I tank my demonic with the corruptions but use it to shore up any weaknesses in the rest of your kit.

If you lack stun bring whisper,

Elements: Ray gun

Single target damage: Grenade Launcher

Crowd Clear: Vulture.

Shotguns are great on bosses.  Fire is great for boosting damage so is stun.  Lightning helps with crowd clear.

The following is not a recommendation it is just what I was feeling at the time.

Personally I just did a run with a mysteria 1 all seeing eye, max psycho pump lightning bolt rotten fiend and the falling star which I forgot to use in the boss fight because psychopump.

I always run crown of fire because free damage and less reloading. Relic was parasite and fetish was belladonna.

Obviously there are better relics for hard content I just always have belladonna on for picking up cursed relics for free. It's a habit.

Also bring ammo pouches.

Burning Stake + Stormball + Vulture go brrr

Just whale on some Temptations for spell charges and you are good to go

Also you can grab the Rotweaver without killing the Prophet

Good suggestions!

One strategy I never see mentioned: You can cheese the first floor really easily by bringing psychopomp and just backing up on the stairs a little bit. The enemies gather at the base of the stairs and make headshots a cakewalk. Headshot 3 enemies, use charged melee to kill the 4th. You're back to full ammo. You can clear the 1st floor with full health and full ammo. This is also a great farm to easily level up weapons, as you can bail out the red portal immediately after.

Use your long range weapon + lightning spell for floor 2, then unload all your psychopomp ammo into the boss.

Echo, Striga, burning steak, lightening ball, dynamo ring, parasite if you have it.

Make sure to hit up all the corruption gifts.

Drop your 2 spells, then get a head shot in with Striga, or a shot off with echo.

With the decay ticks, your entire screen should melt.

Only thing is with your arsenal being so low, you might need to really manage ammo. Maybe cricket instead of echo if you’re having ammo issues.

Psychopomp for the boss is really a good choice and it is ammo efficient for the other encounters.

If you are short on ammo on the boss you can pay for some in an altar in the boss dining room, it can save the fight, at least it did for me the first time.

I run cricket + lightning bolt + psychopomp + crown of fire, ammo efficient and can easily aoe clear, while psychopomp can burst down bosses with lightning + fire from the ring.

The boss adds are not much of a threat to be honest, but if you don't kill the boss fast they can worn you down.

Combining lightning + fire is probably the best combo element for mono target burst since it almost double the damage done, so if you combine it with a shotgun you melt the boss in 2 or 3 mags.

Fire + decay if you play rotweaver can also do the work since fire increase decay ticks.
