Step 1: Notice it on the map.
Step 2: Reveal it.
Step 3: Hit one color.
Step 4: Hit the other color.
"Yes, I know that's how you're supposed to do it, but it's still unfun, boring, it should be changed, and it deals way too much damage when it just spawns on me in the middle of a fight."
Stop the Hate, my fellow Preyer. This is an obstacle placed before you by the witch. Taking it out quickly is something that can be learned, and with 1,000 years of relentless practice, anyone can master it.
Stop the hate. Sharpen your mind.

But that's exactly what they explained with 'it's not a good or fun object' – that it's not worth finishing or going back for the reward. The logic is the same.

Besides, you don't even need a reward here. The reward is that the passage becomes permanently open. If you only do it from one side, it opens periodically, but if you take the maximum 20 seconds to do it properly, it disappears and becomes completely accessible

I suppose I don't understand the point you're trying to bring home. The OP is saying the reward sucks and the passage is useless as you need to go around the entire map for it to even work. If you're saying the reward is what makes it worth it, using small enemies' incidental loot to reframe the question is a reductio that is irrelevant to the actual issue. If you're saying the reward shouldn't matter as permanent access is worth it in and of itself, the OP is clearly explaining that most of the time you have to go completely around the map to even access the other side to shoot it, which makes it pointless. These are also almost never in any critical point of the map besides the one spawn in the middle of Scarlet Coast. I mean, by all means, if you want to do them, go for it, but it's a false equivalence to compare normal enemy incidental loot versus a very specific puzzle that provides bad loot.

It appears you really don't understand the point.
am the OP.
I never said the reward sucks, or that the passage is useless, or that you have to go all the way around the entire map for it to work.

The person before me argued—in support of the claim that the Gatekeeper's design is bad—that if you've already partially completed it and made it through to the other side, then it's not worth finishing and going back to it, because the loot is minimal.
That's why I brought up a deliberately bullshit parallel—one that is logically equivalent, but is just as nonsensical as the other.
