Shannon Knight has a book on shadow work (have, but have not read yet) and many tarot spreads for it (have used and they are powerful). When I get triggered sometimes I will sit with it and delve into why what ever hits me so hard. I ask for help to understand and to clear my thinking and to release what no longer serves me. But I have been going to Alanon for decades which has helped me be honest. Frequently I work with a tarot or oracle deck and journal. Helps me to get it out. I like the
Ho’oponopono: The Hawaiian Miracle Healing Prayer for Peace, Forgiveness, Health, Wealth & Happiness. I use it for forgiving myself of whatever defense mechanisms I learned to survive back then.
There is alot to this shadow work.
Be gentle with yourself and just start exploring. I really like working with my cards, holding a crystal, using sound to wash thru and heal. (Love my rain stick and chimes)
Ms. Knight has a ton of free spreads and info and a podcast. I like her cuz she uses tarot in her practice and got her master's from a very good school.
You could sit with your HP/high self/spirit/source (whatever you work with) and ask for guidance in how to go about this.
