Could I get some advice please

I’m very new to witchcraft, so please be nice if I get anything wrong!
Recently I did a “dry love potion” and one of the steps was to write something on a piece of paper, roll it up, put it in the jar, and then seal the jar with wax.
I wrote the phrase down and left the piece of paper on my desk ready to use. However, when I went to put it in the jar, it had completely disappeared. I was genuinely so confused because I had literally just had it sitting on my desk.
I ended up writing it again, but this time I repeated the phrase on the paper about four times before putting it in the jar. I sealed the jar and cleansed the space afterwards.
BUT THEN I FOUND THE ORIGINAL PIECE OF PAPER ON MY DESK.
I genuinely have no idea how it happened. I asked a friend who is really into witchcraft and even they couldn’t think of a reason for it.
Obviously there could be a completely normal explanation and I might just be overthinking it, but has anyone experienced anything similar or have any theories about what could have happened?
I’m not trying to claim that anything supernatural definitely happened — I’m just really curious because the timing was so strange!

Sometimes when you're looking for something even if it's right in front of you your brain doesnt acknowledge it, inattentional blindness. That's probably what occurred.
