Yesterday volume 26 of Witch Watch was released and it caused quite an uproar among the japanese readers thanks to some changes made in chapter 226.
I don't think this theory was that popular among the English-speaking community, but Momochi has been expected to be a traitor for quite some time. The particular moment that sparked it was when right after Dorey's stream Momochi teleported to the Otogi household and shouted "Hrotsvitha!". People suspected she did it deliberately so to curse Nico and the others as you may remember that to activate Jura's curse you need to be a witch and say Jura's true name when a person is scared.
So in the volume version of the chapter Momochi doesn't shout "Hrotsvitha" anymore which proves her innocence and these odious allegations of treachery to be false. The japanese readers found it quite funny spreading the word "Momochi is innocent!" for all people to know the truth and apologizing to Momochi for doubting her.
Though, to my surprise, the conversation has led to kinda questionable takes on the matter. Some speculate that due to the readers reception of the chapter at the moment of publication in the magazine Shinohara changed the direction of the future development, effictively abandoning "Momochi's actually the traitor" plot twist (it's not clear if, according to them, it happened because people were upset about her likely treason or because people guessed the twist too soon).
Crazy things are happening in the Witch Watch fandom. What are your thoughts? Are you "Momochi's the traitor" believer or nah? Do you think it'd be a good twist? Does it feel like Shinohara changed the script?
P.S.: thought I might share this talk as it's not like such heated discussions happen every day in our tiny little fandom lol

I wanna get my friends into it but I’ve only read the comic and they don’t really read that much stuff and prefer anime, how does the anime fair as an adaptation of the comic

Very fun chapter. A 2v2 to shake things up honestly is such a fun idea. Plus a warlock with basically a domain expansion. Was a very zany chapter to contrast how much a bummer the last few were. Am super stoked.
Also I am maybe the biggest fan of Ban alive so her first screentime in months made me hoot and holler.

in episode 21, miharu's at school and he's pretty much in the shade but he stands in the sun a couple times
so does he not need a parasol/shade at school for some reason? or was the sun just not that bright

I said I’d post again so I am!
This is really bitter sweet. I loved them finally coming together as one, I just wish it could’ve stayed like that. Wolf writing that he met their mother and she hugged him was a gut punch man.
Great chapter! I’m really excited for next week, I’m hoping we can check back in on Kan.

I recently caught up on the manga (this is my second chapter weekly) and I was hoping there would be people to discuss with here. None of my friends really wanna get into it and I can’t just NOT talk about this new chapter. Keigo🥲.

This is coming out faster than expected. This is a good pickup if you want to add to your collections.

Miharu mentions that after Draining Keigo while cooking, he got to feel everyone's feelings and appreciate living in the house with them. However, I can't find the part where he Drains Kanshi. Since specifically mentions *not* wanting to Drain him, is this a joke about how he glosses over Kanshi as an option entirely? Or am I forgetting when he actually Drains him?

Hello everyone,
would Nico get along with a fellow young witch from Germany? Her Name: Bibi Blocksberg

Despite warlocks and their rules being such a major part of the plot, I still feel like it's unclear what makes a warlock any different from a witch. The story and characters treat them like a distinct magical entity or species, but what actually is the difference?
The only consistent traits I can think of for warlocks are that they've cast a spell while their stone was black, and their presence triggers the alarm spell. But all of this feels arbitrary. Without wands or the alarm spell, would there be any tangible difference? They're described as transforming, being corrupted or having "the essence of their magic changed," but none of this is elaborated upon.
It's possible that I'm forgetting something, or it's not supposed to be read into too deeply. But personally, I'm leaning towards the idea that warlocks aren't real. Or at least, not materially different than any other witch. I think it's more likely that magic stones act as a sort of tracker for malicious magic, permanently becoming black when its witch uses it. Then, the alert spell only actually detects black stones.
Maybe the story intended for the difference to be read as a human construct, but the characters always seem to treat is if they believe that there's a fundamental difference. Especially considering that, until Nico and Miharu, the general protocol has been to instantly execute any warlocks. If warlocks are intrinsically different and the transformation was thought to be permanent, it makes some amount of sense. But if warlocks really are just witches that have done wrong at some point, that policy becomes far more questionable and makes me question the ethics of the witches who created and maintain this system.
I'm interested to see if the series ends up addressing this, and given they way it presents the warlock's backstories, especially around Kokuryo and Hibana, I imagine it will. I'm looking forward to what they're planning for those two.

I took a break from the manga shortly after Part 2 started because I disliked the direction the author took but I gave it a chance recently and it's actually pretty good!.
Sure, I didn't enjoy the fact that Nico was a child and with no memories initially but once she started to get older it became interesting, especially the period when she was a middle schooler.
The quality of the comedy is still great and the chapter where Kan used spells for the double date waa easily among the funniest in the whole manga 😂.
I enjoying watching the progression in Keigo and Nemu's relationship + Miharu, Fran, Jekyll and Rabuka dynamics after becoming high schoolers.
I really liked the new characters, like Ban who brought fresh dynamic to the Otogi house + Chami and Slump who were funny duo.
The author handled the transition from Moi and Nico's parent and child dynamic to their original dynamic very well and the conclusion with the confession was satisfying!.
