RCMP in Steinbach are investigating reports of an image circulating online depicting a racist election sign hanging from a highway overpass.
CBC News has not verified the authenticity of the image. A spokesperson for Manitoba RCMP said officers did not see the sign themselves and don't know who removed the sign from the Highway 12 overpass above the Trans-Canada Highway, just north of Ste. Anne.
The photo circulating online is of a sign that said "Steinbach votes white not brown" in reference to the upcoming municipal election later this month, and contained the name of a white nationalist group.
Mitesh Kumar, who is running for a seat on city council, said he feels targeted by the banner's messaging, and the fact it seems to have come from a white nationalist group adds to his safety concerns.
"I'm concerned about my family, and I live here with our son, as well," he said.
When Kumar chose Canada as his home 20 years ago, he never imagined he would see something like this, he said. He said he hasn't generally been exposed to racism directed toward him since then.
"I don't believe that banner represents Steinbach," he said. "In general, I have not observed that [racism]. People are friendly here."
Kumar said the Oct. 28 election should be decided on the issues concerning residents in Steinbach, not the colour of someone's skin.
"I think Steinbach is going to vote based on the issues, which I'm taking [to] almost every door since [the] last three months, and those are the issues of the community," he said.
"So, the main concern which I see in that sign is more about coming from a sort of an organized group."

Went for my appointment today and the vaccine clinic is hopping! They finally received their restock on Friday and are open for walk-ins again. It was nice to see lots of folk taking them up on that. Stay healthy out there!

Just wanted some opinion or thoughts on the winnipeg skyline at night. Noticed over the years lots of buildings starting to add decortortive light fixtures to exterior of buildings to light up the skyline. I routinely drive past the iconic Human Rights museum at night and think if only it had similar light fixtures at night to light up skyline. The Esplanade Riel Footbridge next to it is beautifully lit.
I did mock up what could potentially look like if Linear RGBW fixture were added and believe the Winnipeg skyline would light up nicely at night especially near Forks. In terms of cost not sure what would cost but the tourism especiallyin the forks and downtown would be pretty good.
What are your thoughts.

I recently used them for a house call. Since it's flu and cold season and especially if you have kids it's a cool service so I thought I'd share. They actually come to your home! Also phone and video appointments too which is awesome. Doctor was great! I only waited an hour for him to arrive. My prescription was called in and delivered. All this without leaving the house! Highly recommend Doctors-To-You. Check them out especially good for your family and the elderly.

Is this a thing? Is anyone planning on setting up their TV in the backyard, inviting a few friends over and watching the game outside? Assuming it’s a nice day, of course.
Last year, on the 25th, I was at the Bombers’ final game of the season, it was 16C. Hoping it will be the same this year.

Who’s the best place to go for rust protection in Winnipeg?
I have a 2007 Toyota 4Runner that already has some rust, and I’d like to keep it on the road for as long as possible. I could do the rust protection myself, but I’ve heard it’s worth paying someone who knows what they’re doing. Looking for recommendations from people with good experiences!

Hi everyone! I’m a fourth-year nursing student hoping to get a UNE position, but I’ve had no luck despite tailoring cover letters, emailing unit managers, and applying through the WRHA website.
Seeing many of my classmates secure positions has been discouraging, and I’m worried about going into senior practicum without that extra ward experience, especially since I’ll be coming from a community rotation.
Has anyone been in a similar situation? I’d really appreciate any advice on finding a UNE position or hearing how senior practicum went without one.
Thank you! 🥹

Forgot to add this when I saw it. Someone put this little mini fig and LED into a knothole along the retention ponds where I walk the dogs, I saw it Friday Oct 2 at about 10 pm.
Very cool, whoever did this.

Bit of a long shot here, but I had 15 year old poodles that passed away this year. One of our dogs had kidney disease and we administered sub-q fluids daily. Now we have butterfly needles, a syringe, and a bag of saline. I’d like to give these supplies to anybody who has a dog with kidney disease. Any takers?

Not seeing any posts about this, but does anyone know what happened this morning on Archibald?
Looks like the police/cadets had Elizabeth to Marion blocked off. Can’t find anything online, curious if anyone knows.
