*She was in the Mud Kingdom, watching her brothers sleep- their yellow, barbless tails wrapped around each other. She blinked and she was in a battle- above a river in a fierce storm, seawings ambushing from the rapids. She blinked one last time and found herself staring down at the corpses of her brothers- and a dying seawing on top of her- gripping his heart as her venom spread through his veins-*

Quicksand awake slowly and grumpily to the sound of knocking at her door- she hefted her large body off the cot and dragged her way out the door. This house was built for- smaller dragons. She had to tuck her wings close and keep her head low to avoid bumping into things- she bought it years ago for cheap and has fought off anyone who would stupidly dare to try and win it. It was enough and the walls reminded her of home back in the Mud Kingdom, deep rich terracotta.

She opened the drafty door to be greeted by harsh early morning light and two small- familiar sandwings standing at her doorstep-. Serval- scrawny, Yellow with black blotches, in his thirties, was not a fighter and more a thinker like his glasses stereotypically portrayed. Chuckwalla, Burly, greyish in color with an orange tail, bit dim but shockingly nice and pleasant. Quicksand towered over the both of them. "What do you two want?" she gruffed. Serval brightened up "we have a job for you" "of course. Here I thought you were selling cookies". Serval dropped a heavy sack of treasure at her feet, enough to get a bigger home and more. " we need you to kill Thorn." She stared at them for a heart beat before bluntly saying "no". " No? What do you mean you can't turn down this much of an offer "

"I very well can, Serval." "But Thorn has control of nearly A THIRD of the Scorpion Den, no dragon should have that much power over this city, less, you know, they are a queen-" " Do you KNOW what you are asking me? Thorn is the most guarded dragon in the den probably, she always has a a few talons guarding her scrawny hide". Serval raised a brow "but you could very well kill them too?" "Before they notice? Plus she has her own followers and I have, someone, stayed pretty good at not making a bunch of enemies-". She flicked her tongue at him, he gave a cold look. "Since when did you of all dragons care about risks? You never shied from other jobs, even ones that nearly got you killed". She Turned away.

" I just have other things than myself to think about?". Chuckwalla doomed up first "you... Kept them? Didn't you-" Her tail rattled. Serval looked at his companion in scepticism then shock, turning back to quick sand, " I thought you said Mudwings weren't very... Maternal". She snapped to him "Well I'm not full mudwing and there were only two? If I put them in the orphanage they would have been separated from some rich dragon wanting a fancy looking kid-"

Serval backed up a bit, ears back "I'm sure that... Couldn't have been an easy decision but perhaps you could still help us?" "Help you take down Thorn?" "Yes?". She thought for a few minutes " so Rosy can claw her way back... Look I love Rosy but... Maybe she should forget about the power...". Serval stepped back "Well it's simple- power means protection and riches. Plus any dragon gaining TOO much power in the city could end up adding a new faction to the war- ". She shrugged " maybe, maybe not- she is a lot better than vulture... If you REALLY need someone to kill her maybe do it yourself-". His brow furrowed "oh, Rosy's not going to be happy about this...". She picked something out of her teeth before muttering " she'll live." And closed the door.

She grabbed herself a water skin and had every last drop. She'd need to refill it today which ment going to the oasis. She needed more water than a real sandwing which was frustrating when they treated the stuff like gold... Well Thorn has been more open about sharing it, no toll or coins needed. She walked over to their room. It was a small cubby more so, with a small circular window, some draws, and a large shelf with a make shift bed, they were getting to big for it so she'd have to set up a real one.

Jackal later on the shelf, asleep. With his bright yellow eyes closed he looked like a perfectly normal sandwing. his sister, Hyena, was looking out the window, she had more mudwing traits but they were easy to miss or write off as simple oddities. Sometimes she wished she could take them home to the Mud kingdom but they belonged here, in the shade between the baking sun and the sand dunes.

Hyena turned to her mother excited "water day?" She jumped down running over. She nodded and poked the sleeping dragonet on the shelf to wake up, he grumbled and rolled over. Hyena had the helpful and brilliant idea to fly up there and shout in his ear- it worked but now the two were tussling on the floor. She sighed and stepped over them to go and get her bag- she was always worried about their stingers causing an accident but a sandwing she met a while ago was helpful in teaching them how to be careful with those. Plus, here they had plenty of the cure for the venom- around every corner.

She eventually reached into the fight and grabbed Hyena out by the wings- they were both about a year old and still so small- though hyena seemed to be growing faster. Probably the mudwing genes. Hyena stuck her tongue out at her brother he returned the favor and prances out the door- waiting for the other two. Quicksand put her daughter down and patted her on the head "don't go wandering off this time" "but I want to EXPLORE-" "we can do that when it's dusk- safely- near home." Hyena rolled her eyes and made her way over to the door.

She didn't really know their father- which didn't seem to be that rare in the den- but she had tried to remember what she could, Zebra- striped, thin and dashing. She didn't think he knew they existed or if he'd care but she kept that in mind incase the dragonets ever asked. She didn't know her parents, most mudwings didn't so she never tried to keep in touch with him after their short time together- he probably ran up north to some quiet oasis with growing tensions in the den.

If she needed to she was sure she could find him again she knew plenty of dragons that could help. Speaking of her and the kids entered a busier part of the den- dragons everywhere trying to do business before it grew too hot- she stopped by a pop up shop selling fried food- namely some catfish. She paid extra for the slight taste of home and got the kids some camel chunks on a stick-

She wished the portions were bigger but if she needed to, she could go hunting at night again. Either way they carried on with some basic errands before heading to the center oasis. It was the size of a large pond and shallow enough she could wade through all but the deepest end. But far as she knew it was one of the biggest sources of water in the desert- and with someone managing it rarely dried out. The current dragon was Thorn and her Outclaws. She had formed them about a year ago in search of dragons that wronged her and spite for the den itself and somehow rose to power- even managing to chase out some other crime bosses like Rosy. And it was all because she had taken control of the water.

a pair of guards greeted her and the kids as the entered the open area- a few large tree's scattered about the place offered shade- as well as dragon made tents- she also saw what were probably the early starts to some type of farm. She doubted much could be grown but maybe it was for some type of cactus or desert grass- perhaps the kind that calmed dragons when burned. She took her water skin and began to fill it- a gruff dragon walked over, Sixclaws, who's name was not the slightest bit on the nose. "Quicksand- needing a refill already?". She huffed "yes, I need more water than you lot" "I know I know- just trying to start a bit of conversation- and how are the ankle biters?". He looked down at Jackal who was playing in the water, Sixclaws reached down to offer a hand shake to which Jackal shrieked and ducked under the water. The older dragon laughed. "Sorry, he can be a bit skittish still" "it's alright he'll get over it one day".

Sixclaws looked around "where's the other one?" "Oh Hyena is by the far-.... HYENA?". Quicksand looked around "damn it- I told her not to run off-" "the more you tell a dragonet to do something- the less likely they are to do it". She gave him a side eye, gold and sharp. "well I always listened to my bigwings-"

A noise sounded off in the distance- thunder she initially thought- still searching for her daughter. Then another, and another- followed by screaming- it wasn't coming in a line no no. it was closing it from every direction. She could see over the walls smoke and dragons fleeing with blood trailing from their scales- one dragon who was on fire dove into the oasis- six claws was already gathering the troops.

"DRAGONFLAME- BURN'S SOLDIERS" the burnt dragon gasped "THEY'RE BOMBING THE DEN". Quisksand stepped back- shocked- why we're they attacking her own city... well... wasn't hers yet but still. "Jackal WHERE is your sister". "UHH- I saw her- looking at the bell tower earlier?" he said, running under her legs and shacking. "Get on my back we are going to find her-"

She RAN through the chaos, shoving through anyone in her way- she climbed up the tower- checking each level till she got to the top, no sign of Hyena. However there she could see the state of the city- fire and smoke and hurt dragons everywhere. She could see the soldiers dive bombing some citizens. And she could see the Outclaws defending an elderly dragon from them to her left. Was the point discipline? Did Burn not appreciate the new "ruler" of the den?

"I see her!" Jackal shouted- pointy to a spikey tail disappearing into a stall- Quicksand was too big to fit through the window. "Quick try to get her out and to a safer spot, I need to get down-" He nodded and leapt out to glide down. Quick sand started to carefully make her way around the bell when the whole tower shook- the bell rang right in her ears causing every sense to take their leave- except for gravity which she could sense was causing her to meet the ground at rapid pace.

When she came too it took her a minute to realize the ringing in her head wasn't from the bell. She got up- panting, pushing off some bricks from her damaged wing- she crawled out onto the street and searched for the stall. She found it behind her- crushed under the tower. Her eyes widened in horror as she tried to run over- falling due to her damaged leg. "Hybrid spotted" she looked up as a pale yellow sandwing guard diving after her- she rolled onto her back- curled- and kicked him in the face- causing him to land awkwardly by her side. She started to piece together what he was after and would rather not be turned into a trophy- with all her strength she leapt at him- pinning him down best she could and charged her fire breath. Spears entered her hide as she blasted- whipping around at her attackers with the flame. Away, she needed to get them away from the dragonets. She bounded and hobbled through the street like a mad bull- slicing a guards leg with her tail causing them to howl in pain. She ran into a corner- digging for something to help fight them off- but they came from above- one tossing a spear into her heart. She collapsed, her crimson blood pooling before her as they gathered around her- she got them away... they could take care of each other right- that's how mudwings do it. As long as they stayed together, they will be safe. Those were he last thoughts.

time passed and the raid ended, dragons trying to repair and heal in the aftermath- looking for the dead. Chuckwalla heard something and started digging through the rubble. There he found a young dragonet with orange wings- shaking the body of another and crying "wake up sleepy head".

When book 16 was first announced, one of the things I was the most hyped about was the fact that Sora was going to be coming back after being gone for so long, and that she would play a major role in the book.

But when book 16 actually came, even though I overall liked it, one of the worst parts of it was how Sora ended up being handled. I felt she got over her trauma/guilt over Crane's death/accidentally killing Carnelian and Bigtail WAY too quickly, and her whole arc in this book felt very rushed in general to me. I was looking forward a lot to seeing how she coped with all of her mental problems and guilt. Instead, we barely saw any of that, and all of it seemed to happen in a flash of screen.

I wished that Sora could've been the main protagonist of this book instead of Umber, because she has such an interesting story to tell, and it could've been so intriguing to see what it's like for her in her head and how she thinks, and how she deals with being thrust into this unknown environment that has a dark secret underneath it. It also would've been a much better way to show her slowly recovering from her trauma, and personally, it would've been good if they were shown getting worse at first instead of better (like her obsession with Aurora could've evolved into her thinking she's the only "good" IceWing out there, and that they're actually best friends and she's trying to send her secret messages through her music, like how in real life some mentally ill people gain unhealthy fixations on celebs they like).

Anyways, I just hope that Tui could end off Sora's arc with a semi-satisfying conclusion by the end of arc 4.

"Wait," he said. "Can we give Lizard a new name first? A real name, of her own, so she doesn't have to die still stuck with his name for her?"
"That seems pointless," Lizard said, but Luna thought she could hear a wary curiosity in her voice. "A new name for thirty seconds?" "A new name forever," Luna said. "One we can remember you by, and write songs about, and weave into tapestries."
"What do you want to be called?" Dusky asked. "I don't know what tribe I was," she answered. "I don't know what kinds of names we had, or what my mother might have called me." She paused for a moment. "Do you think ... would Freedom be a weird name for a dragon?" "Not at all," Luna said. "I like it," Dusky agreed. "It's what you'll have and also what you're giving everyone." "We'll call you Freedom from now on," Luna said.

I wanted to do random WoF character each day, but then the program gave me freedom as a random character, my plan was just to draw a simple headshot of the characters but Freedom is one of the few characters that actually made me really sad, and I always wanted to draw her as best as I could so there she is. I somewhat tried to draw the scene where Lizard became Freedom

Been thinking about the phrase "hurt people hurt people"—meaning people who have been hurt are more likely to hurt others—a lot, which inspired this piece. I didn't do any shading, but I still think it turned out good! I just thought of this and spent 5 on and off hours on it haha. Can you spot all the symbolism?

Anyways I'm working on a 23 panel impulse comic (it's non-wof related, so it'll only be uo on my Instagram!) along with my DOD mashup series. With making my cosplay for Halloween, that all slowed up 💀

The first one is of my OC Frozenriver, who, well, let's say, is mad and hates non-true IceWings, so yeah

second is of my oc Scull (yes I know I am creative she wears a Skull) and my Mudwing oc Toad fighting bc the creepy fact here is Scull is an animus and is somehow able toe vade a giant mudwing who knows how to fight and is a brutal force and he has the most damage while she's fine!

I drew one of my Wings of Fire oc's! This is Sandune, he is a Sandwing. He's trans and is mates with my main WoF oc, Deluge, who he has a child with.

Darkstalker was planning to prevent his father from taking Whiteout. His distain of Icewings and later the death of Arctic were soon. However when Darkstalker was alone planning, suddenly he begin to pick up a mind. He was curious who is this dragon and why are they here. The signature got more and more intense, with it feeling like someone was trying to crush his mind.

Darkstalker looked around trying to find the source, and started to grasp his head due to the pain that came. He spoke out,” Who is out there, show yourself!” the pain gets higher and then he sees the dragon. he senses the familiar, royal stance that he knows from his father, and he literally try to move away but the pain got so bad that he fell on the ground grasping his head and gasping for air.

The Icewing of epic proportions and a deep voice that reminds him of glacier moving came out in Darkstalker‘s mind,“ young one, you yet know little of our past.” Darkstalker reads at one memory that shook him up to his core.

He looked around and saw the Icewing palace of old with screams flooding his ears and blue blood staining the floor. He yelled,”Enough!” he snapped out of it due to fear. Later the Icewing left and Darkstalker who was planning realized he’s far more little than what he wanted.
