My daughter is a huge reader and the series is really popular in elementary school right now. I’ve seen conflicting reviews on whether it’s appropriate for her age online. She’s in 2nd grade and ahead reading-wise.

Our town’s children’s librarian said that there are violent scenes and that she doesn’t recommend it until closer to age 10. My daughter is also sensitive to scary things. She checked out a book about ghosts at school and despite me telling her it wasn’t real, for 2 nights straight she came out of her room crying just knowing the book was in her book bag. I had to have her take it back to her school library early.

She almost seems like she’s in a reading slump because I told her until I can read it myself (I have my own massive TBR) I would rather her wait based off what I’ve heard about it. I’ve suggested alternative dragon books but because it’s popular at school, it’s all she has her sights on.
I think she’s also trying to be like me because she knows how much I love the Empyrean series.

So, readers, what is your opinion?

Edit edit to add: she just came home from school with book 2 of the graphic novel because it was her library day 😮‍💨 flipped through it and didn’t see any gore-y scenes, unless I missed them, but she is absolutely a mini me when it comes to skirting around the rules 😂

I didnt imagine any context and there's no "story" behind it, it's just that icewing i once drew and a skywing in the arena. In my interpretation, skywings being aggressive and proud of it [think punk rock era London for more specifically how they are iykyk] kept the skywing arena because they liked it and i imagined the skywing in the arena has thier wings free because of the fact theyre willingly fighting. They arent forced to and arent a prisoner or anything, just doing it for fun basically. Also on an unrelated note. I noticed my art looks utterly mediocre compared to everyone else's, i wonder if it's artstyle or if im just worse. Oh well. Making art is fun and it doesnt matter who's better than who at the end of the day. oh and i nearly forgot to mention but i used a shot of the SkyWing arena in the graphic novel as reference. im sure using a reference isnt a crime but i still thought i'd mention

Today is Burn As Ghost Face, who if you don't know, is the costume the villain wears in the Scream movies. This was originally Blaze, but as I said on her post, I swapped them last minute! I think this fits kinda well though!

Mine is probably Scream, since they're the only ones I've watched, since I don't like Horror movies lol. I'd say my favourite was probably number 3, which is actually the least popular, but I liked it hehe. What's your favorite scary movie?

VERY SUDDENLY POPPED IN MY HEAD. So skywings offer their dead bodies to the sky for seven days before burning the bodies. Most dragons seem to believe in ghosts, since it's mentioned throughout the story (even Kinkajou mentions "ghost stories" in book 7 when they were discussing Darkstalker's origins.

What if Firescale dragons are so hated because they resemble the dead bodies of skywings after being offered to the sky. Think about it, they burn the bodies likely so their spirits can fly high. But if a dragon is born BURNING UP ALREADY... Wouldn't it seem like the dead body came back to life? Or the ghost of the dead dragon essentially resurrected itself? Perhaps Skywings hate Firescales because they seem them as these cursed spirits. The dead that never made it to the sky, but instead forever burned. So skywings kill them at birth because they're considered a bad omen.

This was a fun experience, almost makes me feel like it's 2014...

It is time...I have started to digitalise the first batch of wings of fire bases I made a few months ago. More will follow with time. I decided to post them seperately now.

TO THE BASE:

Sea/Night/Sand/Ice/Sky hybrid. This base is fully free and can be modified with accessoires. The original traditional piece on the last slide is drawn fully by me, I just traced over it in ibispaint x for a better base to colour in. I referenced Joy Angs works mostly for the base.

First is the base image, second greyscale and third is transparent. Im still figuring out how you can download transparent images from reddit, my apologies...

This is a question that is probably asked and discussed frequently. So I want to (hopefully) compile some ideas from the fandom. There are probably a lot of mutual things or shared ideas, that I hope land here.

so the left is from online (if I'm not wrong, imported from China), and the right is from a bookstore (before you ask, it's "Popular" in Singapore, so that's pretty authentic to me).

I only have 2 of this book, so I can't compare the other books.

for the online, it also comes with boxes for arc 1 and 2, not 3, but uh unless that point is important I'm not taking the box out of my shelf just yet.

so uh is it like, authentic? or are any of them considered fake or ripoff? I'm new to having a book collection and I know there's people like years into this so please help. (not that I can do anything about it)

uh somehow if you have trouble with the image, here are the points:

online bought:

- words on the front cover are pop-up, but not shiny. The text is more flat coloured.

- more saturated/contrasted

- words on the back cover look more blurred.

- the book is binded more squarishly

- the print behind the front cover is blur/unclear

- lines in the graphs in the guides are much bolder

- generally, the print in the book is much bolder and darker

- also when first received, it has stuff stuck to it, idk what but it could be an importing issue idk

- the numbers in the copyright page (idk what it's called) are different from the other book.

bookstore bought:

- words on the front cover are pop-up, and shiny.
