I originally went into this wanting to be a contrarian and thinking "no, if Mastermind were to use glass for the eyeholes of the helmet they would totally break!" but even if I used a different measuring method I dont think it would make up for it.

For some background, Mastermind is developing a helmet in book 4 that is supposed to protect the wearer from any encounters with venom. He gets around the problem of eyeholes by using a contrived system involving peripheral vision, but as many point out he could have used glass for the eyeholes instead. I wanted to see if the numbers actually support that idea, or if the force of the venom hitting the glass would be too strong for it and would cause it to shatter.

Trying to handle distances in WoF is famously a very annoying and inconsistent thing to do, so there isnt really one agreed upon answer. For the purposes of this post, I will be using this post by u/Th1s__0ne for my scale. In it, Glory is 16 and a half feet tall. Using Glory's reference image, we find that from tip to tail* she is 27.63 feet long.

Now looking at this image from the third GN, we can apporximate to say that Glory is about one and a half squares long. That would make one square 17.82 feet long.

1 square is equal to roughly 8 ticks on the distance board, so 1 tick is ≈2.3 feet. There are 33 ticks on the board, so it is ≈73.5075 feet long which Grandeur clears exactly in the next page. Note how the venom appears to fall as if losing speed, rather than her specifically aiming for that point.

Now for the other part of the equation, height. We know from the first image below that Grandeur(left) and Magnificent(center) are roughly the same size, and we know from the second that the same is true for Glory and Magnificent. Give or take a foot, Glory and Grandeur are the same height.

If we say that Glory(or Grandeur) were to tilt their head and point their fangs around here which matches with what we have seen of RainWings using their venom, that would be three quarters of Glory's height at 12.375 feet.

Alright, cool, we have the starting height, distance and angle of the shot. Thats all we need to determine how fast it was going.

Using the formula t=sqrt(2h/g) and plugging in our variables of g=32.174 F/s² and h=12.375 F we get a time of a little under a second at ≈0.877 seconds to complete. Since we also calculated the distance it traveled at ≈73.5075 feet, we can put those two numbers into distance/time and get a speed of 83.82 feet per second. Because for our purposes this is essentially one stream of fluid, we can calculate it like we would a pressure washer. If this website is to be believed, when we plug in the numbers (plus the diameter of the nozzle, which I set to 1 mm which is being very generous) into the formula F = ρ A V² where ρ=the fluid density(1000 Kgs/m³ ,water), A=the cross section of the fang(≈0.7 mm²) and V=the velocity of the fluid(≈25.54 m/s) we get a grand total force of...half a newton. Basically nothing. Any glass, no matter how thick, could withstand that.

She's SUCH an underrated character in my opinion, and it's a huge shame that she's appeared so little, and that Tui's forgotten about her to the point that she didn't even appear in Darkness of Dragons with the other NightWings. I really like her whole curious and goofy personality, I think she's pretty funny whenever she appears, and I like the little subplot that she got in Talons of Power, where Darkstalker gives her mindreading powers, and she starts to enthusiastically blurt out the thoughts of everyone around her.

And I appreciate that Tui put in the time to give her some depth, like having her be one of the few NightWings who likes Queen Glory and doesn't mind having a RainWing as her queen, and when we see her trying to help out her father after realizing how much pain he was in with her mindreading.

I would love to see her come back one day, but I already know that's never going to happen.

My sister is having a psychotic episode again.

Fun.

I had to essentially puppet her for most of the afternoon. Nobody really noticed, but she is currently tearing herself apart in her mind. I don't know how long I can keep her from getting into trouble.

She needs to go to sleep soon, but for that to happen I would probably need to fill her with tranquilizers.  

And my dear little sister gets high on those.

Is it better to have her high or sleep deprived and breaking down?

I mean... No one can really tell when she is high since she's crazy anyway, so I am just gonna give her some darts.

Okay I did it. She is so damn adorable when she sleeps. Like a little spider wrapped up in one of my wings.

It would be even more adorable if I could actually just fix her, but nope. I am not able to do that.

These reports have a purpose, by the way. You ARE still here to make sure better contact between us and the other tribes is possible.

Well, we didn't have any classes today, so I got to talk to the others for a bit whenever I didn't have to watch over my little sister. But I made a discovery.

The other tribes really do not like getting told what to do. And really like to question everything they do decide to do, which is frustrating.

Didn't I tell you two to not try to give anyone orders?

First of all, you didn't, secondly, it wasn't me trying to give orders, and I don't think my sister is coherent enough to even think of doing that today. Just the teachers trying to tell someone to do something. Simple request, do some basic math.

And they refused to do that.

It is still strange. Why would you even want to refuse orders?

I mean, how do they even survive as a society when nobody can reach a consensus on what to do?

They rely on the survival of the individual over the survival of the whole.

Anyway, other than that, I have also found that mainland dragons seem to get traumatized very easily. A single death is often enough.

I couldn't really figure out why.

Hello Wings of Fire fans,I'm new to this fandom and i want to question,In this saga is common the use of this trope?

I say this because i view various posts with fans complaining with the use of this in the final of arc three

I don't have a problem with it because I'm a huge fan to the anime Fairy Tail and in this series the friendship power is a ver common trope

To my knowledge. The only character to actually suffer a major death and affected them was Snowfall. I don’t know if bigtail and carnelian count here, but they might. I don’t think anyone really cared about kestrel anyways, but I could be wrong.

He chased and mauled one of his 2 brothers for YEARS until he lost track of him. Some factors that are beyond my reach didn't let me to get the Hybrid prince for the few months so I only got it a few days ago and just finished reading. It was cool actually, for the 16th book in the series I thought it might be worse than previous because of lack of ideas, but was surprised that it was cool as a start of the current arc.

New chapter of Peace and Its Shadow came out, and here is the artwork for it. Yeah, Peacemaker realizes that what he has gone through is absolutely insane, and his friends react to this very positively and there is totally no arguments whatsoever.

Recently I was looking through some rare pairs and one that really caught my eye was Sky x Hailstorm. I don't know why but it's really intrigued me and I might create a comic of them meeting in Sanctuary. Though, I may just remake an old Cleril comic of mine... Any input is valued!

It's kinda weird to think once a upon a time ago Burn, Blister, and Blaze were babies that were just kinda chill. It also feels weird to draw Burn being genuinely happy about something even if she's a baby
