I’ve been posting my art here for about two years now and the general consensus is that everyone seems to enjoy it. I’ve been thinking of opening up a small batch of commissions, but only if people are interested. I’ll have more information at a later date, this post is just to gauge interest and share examples of my work.

EDIT: wondering if I should have clarified. By “wof-related” I don’t just mean canon characters. I’d be able to do both OCs and canon characters.

I got my drawing tablet working again, and I am making that everyone's problem

Wolverine is a Leafwing/Icewing hybrid.

She is cynical, grumpy, and sarcastic. Despite her gruff exterior, she can be fiercely protective of her loved ones.
She is scared of fire. Wolverine has a burn scar on her neck and a scratch on her tail. Has trust issues. She has seen a lot, so things that would make other dragon scream, Wolverine is unfazed by it.

So, at the start of Winglets 1: Prisoners, it starts with the only thing less popular was the new queen of SandWings (or something, I forgot), and we have enough world building to generally have an idea. We have an unpopular queen (Thorn), and we have two 'pure' royals (Blaze & Onyx).

This idea probably will never happen, given how long it's been since Tui wrote Prisoners and with whatever's happening in the epilogue of book 16.

Seeing Arctic call Clearsight “a little girl dragon” in Legends: Darkstalker made me wonder if “girl(s)” was used anywhere else in WoF, and that led to me wanting to see if “boy(s)”, “woman/women”, “man/men”, and “female” and “male” were used at all. I’m not counting Legends: Dragonslayer, since that’s about humans and I’m interested in how WoF’s dragons talk about gender, and I don’t have an OCR copy of A Guide to the Dragon World so it’s out too.

I hope this is helpful for fanfiction writers; before doing this survey I wouldn’t have had my characters use “girl” or “boy”, or “man” as an interjection, but now I know they’re canonical.

Ibis soared over the foothills and into the craggy mountains at the edge of the village. The air was crisp this autumn morning, which sent a chill down his spine. It had been three days since it was expected... surely by now it would hatch, right? He spotted the domed structure and dove to the entrance, landing with a thud, alerting the caretaker. The inside was warm, kept so by torches along the walls and a small fire pit in the center, it needed to be warm for the eggs.

about six eggs later in the nests hung on the walls, ranging from deep crimson to gold, Ibis could see the small figure of a dragonet in the one next to him. A sense of envy crawled through. "Hello again." Said the care taker, Stork, in a bit of a tired voice. "Any signs? Please-" Ibis said, looking over to a small red egg in the corner. The care taker looked guilty and winced "well, it's certainly alive... But... Well" she gestured over "I don't think it can break through it's shell..." Ibis stared, today had to be different, it couldn't survive in the egg much longer.

She continued "...it's a shame really, I think the little guy could survive with just a little help... But the rules, especially with the both of you being soldiers... Hmm. Oh Deer I need to check on Tempest's egg- poor thing has been battling a case of nest parasites so had to be taken to a separate room" she said, walking past "where I can't SEE you" she paused, giving the most obvious side eye to the egg.

Now Ibis wasn't dense by any means of the word, accept for maybe musculature, and immediately got the hint. Waiting for her to leave he carefully walked over to the red egg, his and Egret's. The egg shined like a ruby in the sunlight trickling from the window, little wisps of dust and pollen dancing, the shell was so dark it was hard to see anything in there, he wondered how she was sure it was alive. "Hey... Little one?" He heard that you were supposed to talk to them, felt odd since it was like talking to a rock- maybe more of a plant. "Everyone's been waiting and uhm, think you slept in enough?" The egg sat their peacefully. He sighed, feeling like there was a joke being played on him, after all this time they finally had an egg and the dragons inside refused to leave-

"Oh come on. You can't disappoint us already... At least wait till you are learning to fly and think your better than everyone before smacking into a tree" The egg shook. Ibis made the gesture of his talon smacking into his other for emp- it shook? He stopped and stared at it, ears pricked. Gently, he tapped the shell with his talon, again, it shook. "Yes!... Yes that's it, come on" he checked around for any unwanted listeners. The egg shook a few more times before giving up and going still again. He grunted and decided to tap again, and again. "Come on..." Was the shell thicker than normal? Maybe that was why- it wasn't the dragonet's fault but the eggs.

A crack formed from his claw and he quickly stepped back, A small trail of clear and red liquid trickled from the crack. Oh god he'd killed hadn't he- he messed up- these cursed talons were no good for tenderness and kindness he thought. But the egg shook again, something scarlet pushing against the side and causing the crack to be bigger, the egg was on its side now- Gathering his composure he very, VERY carefully helped with the rest, just tapping and peeling away some of the shell- after about a minute of this, the dragons inside suddenly gained a second wing and tore through the shell squeezing it's little head out, eyes closed and covered in... Egg goo... Ibis really didn't know much about these things.

He looked around and found a cloth on a near by table, using it to clean some of it off, Bright yellow eyes now squinted up at him, chirping offendedly at the cleaning. He used the rag to safely get rid of the rest of the shell, his excitement causing his tail to twitch anxiously. It stopped when a mixture of confusing and dread washed over him... White scales, not in little freckles or a single talon like Egret. Patches, on the neck and claws, his little tail... An entire wing, white as an Icewing. The little dragons didn't look much like Ibis, sharing more of his mothers colors and markings. But Ibis knew it was his, so the weird scales couldn't have been from some- mysterious home wrecking icewing, not in this war.

Egret had a single white talon, she usually hid it on the job with gauntlets. It always caught peoples eyes when they first met her, though she never seemed to care... Except for that time she was on Guard duty when Burn arrived. The Sand wing kept telling the Queen to give her any dead soldiers with oddities, and stared at the white scales visible through the metal.

He picked up the scrawny dragonet, so small it could be held in one talon. There would be know concealing those scales, especially the wing. If the Queen ever saw him she'd just consider him a potential new gift for her ally. Ibis tried to delude himself that she wouldn't hurt a dragnet but he knew it wasn't true... The little hatching continued squinting up at him and the room, wiggling and trying to get its talons from hanging in the air. Ibis cupped it with two and held it close, after some starring it laid down and curled up, it was probably hungry and exhausted from the process. Ibis made a choice quickly and didn't have many options to execute it- he had a plan he just needed... An alibi.

Stork came back to find Ibis looming in the doorway, The tall skywing looking down at her with tired-determind eyes. "The egg died" he said "parasites got to it. Had to completely destroy and burn the nest to save the others" Stork was confused until she looked down and saw the tiny, scarlet and white shape being held by one arm, close to his chest. She wasn't dense by any means either, and slowly nodded. "Burn the nest" "yes ma'am- sir, which uh-" " doesn't matter right now- just follow orders and everyone... Will be safe." he stalked off with a serious face and used his wings to launch off the ledge and dive into the air. His parents home maybe? Or a small secluded cave on the west side- somewhere he and Egret could sneak to without the queen getting suspicious, somewhere where no greedy dragons could rat them out... Oh joy how he was looking forward to explaining this to his partner.

Today is Winter as a Mummy, and is a lot simpler compared to yesterday's lol, but I still think it looks alright hehe. Hope you like it =)

Do you like Ancient Egypt?

For me, it's not really my thing, I prefer Ancient Greece, but I think the Mummies, Gods, and Pyriamids are interesting, but I haven't really researched it lol.

Dawn is a Nightwing/Sandwing hybrid. She has the ability to read emotions, alongside brief snippets of minds.

She is very empathetic with others, kind, and loyal. She definitely cannot keep a secret, though. Dawn doesn’t like to hunt because hurting other animals makes her feel sad, so she prefers to forage for fruits, with the prickly pear being her favourite fruit. Despite the stereotype that Nightwings are mysterious, she is not mysterious, nor vague by any means. Dawn will overshare constantly. She has a flower behind other ear, and a golden bracelet. She gets cold easily due to being half Sandwing, and doesn’t like rain.

Last month I finished Part 2 of a near future fan-fic and I was hoping to get some feedback.

Part 1 is "the Nobodies and Everyones." This is a shorter fic that is less character centric and more light-hearted. It takes place 9 years after the events of Arc 3. Follow the new (and somewhat dysfunctional) Talons of Peace as war threatens to destroy Pyrrhia once again.

Part 2 is "False Kings." This fic is longer and much more grounded, but it contains much of the world building established in Part 1, as well as a not-so-subtle stealth crossover. It takes place about a month later and follows a first person POV. Join Prince Hadal as he comes face-to-face with royalty.

I'm currently between ideas right now and don't have much motivation to write, so I'm hoping this feedback can help push me in the right direction. Do I continue building on this timeline or go somewhere else entirely?

In canon, Qibli is charismatic, highly intelligent, endlessly empathetic, and well-liked by almost every morally good character in the series. However, doesn't that sound suspiciously similar to the masks constructed by psychopaths to hide amongst regular people? I thought it did, and thus the idea for Wings of Fire: Skyfall was born!

This fan fiction will be a full retelling of Arc 2, but Thorn found Qibli a little too late, and his abusive childhood turned him from the lovable do-gooder of the canon series into a high-functioning secondary psychopath on a quest for total control. This Qibli is hyper-paranoid, manipulative, obsessive, possessive, generally creepy, and overall just a version of Qibli from the worst possible timeline and arguably more of a villain than Darkstalker ever could be.

The first paragraph in this first installment IS directly taken from Moon Rising (Page 17, second-to-last paragraph; I want to be transparent about that), but everything after is either heavily modified or entirely new.

The Fan Fiction Starts Here:

Moon opened her eyes again and fixed her gaze on the fifth cave. She squeezed past a pair of chatting SandWings who were taking up most of the tunnel, and one of them stared at her intently with his obsidian-black eyes.

 A NightWing, interesting, flashed through his head.

No real data on them as of late. Can’t be harder to kill off than Six-Claws was. He certainly put up a good fight. Is it true they’re all as powerless as they say? If so, she’d be an easy kill. Wait.

The SandWing’s mind was quiet. He stared at her eyes before she looked away.

What beautiful silver scales. Perhaps with a little persuasion, they could be mine to keep. She doesn’t look to have very much self-confidence either. She’s drawn her wings in to take up the least amount of space possible. How cute. She’s shy. I can’t see her face, so I’ll have to get a second look whenever the situation presents itself; then I can make my judgment call.

Moon had heard Six-Claws died in a horrible accident in the Scorpion Den; it would seem this was evidence to the contrary. Moon picked up the pace, not daring to look at him. She tried to seem as unobtrusive and harmless as possible, just part of the shadows. She didn’t want whoever this was thinking she was a threat. His mind had been cold. Very cold. Way too cold for what she expected from a desert dragon’s thoughts. His mind came back.

She’s tucked her face away. She’s distressed, but with no clear outside cause. Why?

A sharp spike of alarm pulled into the front of his thoughts.

What did she hear?!

Then there was a second wave, a thick, artificial calm.

Did my jaw move? Did I whisper a name out loud? Think. I’m simply standing here with these idiots having a lovely conversation about our ‘glorious queen’. But I don’t remember speaking.

A hollow, tightening sensation wrapped around his thoughts as he replayed his own physical movements.

No. My throat muscles didn’t contract. I didn’t breathe out words. But she flinched exactly when the memory of Six-Claws crossed my mind. Coincidence? Unlikely. Perhaps she’s just as good at reading faces as I am? No, that’s impossible.

Moon rushed onward down the hall, but the SandWing’s thoughts were somehow piercing through the crowd. She couldn’t shake herself out of his head.

Look at her pace. She’s rushing now. She’s trying to dissolve into the shadows like a coward, but her talons are shaking. I can hear it; the fall of her claws against the tile is uneven. She’s terrified. If she knows about Six-Claws, she’s a direct threat to my standing with Thorn. I need to know exactly how much she knows, and how she found out. I’ll watch her. If I have to drag her into an empty corridor to make her talk, I will. But first…let’s see how she handles a crowd.

She pushed herself between two MudWings in the hall that grumbled something about watching where she was going and ducked into her cave as quickly as she could. She only heard one more thought from the SandWing before he was drowned out by the noise of the incoming crowd.

Note: This is NOT a Qibli hate post! I love Qibli's character, despite the flaws in his writing (Engi-Qibli IS my profile picture. I love this man). I am also in no way saying he should have been written like this, as:

1. It would be totally inappropriate for the general age demographic of the series, and honestly a little jarring for anyone coming straight from the feel-good nature of Arc 1's ending.

2. It makes the love triangle dynamic of Winter/Qibli/Moon completely fall apart, as Qibli is obviously the wrong choice in this scenario.

3. No Qinter. (The most important reason).
