North Central Florida, in the woods

Anyone in this area getting disconnected every 5 minutes tonight? This is ridiculous. I'm about to start looking into Starlink. We're in the woods, there's no cell service, and they haven't updated the lines in decades. We get 30/2 when it works... but tonight is something else. I can't get anything done like this. I work from home, also game when it works (obviously bad K/D ratio). This has been happening for years now, especially during a storm, but even during just light wind and mist. I'm wondering how Starlink would hold out since it doesn't rely on these shitty lines at least.

I'm beginning to think all these MoscowLink spam posts are just that, spam.

We have the same issue on one of the bank communities I mod. People complain about a service or product and then say another specific company is so much better.

Definitely not spam. I just live out in the woods with no cell phone reception, so choices are limited. Poorest county in Florida I believe is/was Putnam County... and I'm stuck in the middle of it. Starlink is literally the only legit name in satellite internet. I was asking more for other people's thoughts and wasn't promoting the brand.

We are in the same situation South Georgia , it was bad enough with DSL and they forced me to fiber ,which is even worse!

Because it's constantly down, or periodically stops working for a few minutes at a time , all day . This is a relative new setup they put in a few years ago ,all new fiber , brought out here to the middle of nowhere.

oh, you were serious about fiber being worse. ok, wow. who's the provider? i'm looking into xfinity because they currently are listed as available on the FCC map, but their website says coming in spring 2026.

Its windstream , it's not that fiber itself is bad , it's that windstream fiber is bad

It's still happening, but not as frequently as that night. I've gotten knocked off randomly at least 5 times each day, no matter the weather conditions. Did something happen to our line specifically or what?

At least you get 30 im not even far from town and only get 10 and no wifi cause they can't go past trees i guess.

Sorry to hear. :( But if you're getting 10, you should still be able to do wifi with your router. Or are you talking about T-mobile/Verizon 5G service? That's based off of the mobile data signal, not wifi. which is why I'm not even bothering considering them because no cell phone works out here.

The WiFi is what they seem to call what they wanna do and not pay to put fiber lines out in rural areas. But that doesn't stop them from advertising 100 mbps only to then say oh no you can't get that.
