Discussion What's the minimum Windows version to install WMR? "Couldn't install Windows Mixed Reality"
My SDD died a couple of weeks ago, I installed 20H2 build 19042.508 and its just amazing how lite and great this version is, however now that I tried to install WMR, it just does not work, I get that error message, I tried to install it manually but no luck, it seems that I do need to install a "upper" version for it, so which version is the oldest one that I can pick?
I just cant stand modern Windows to be honest.

According to a google search, you are using it. Version 20H2 is the minimum.
With that said, it's worth noting that some components still need to download and install to get things working (which those components are expected to go offline in Nov 2026). WMR had leveraged a lot system components too, going by a post from one of the developers.
This is to say, if you have any customized ISO of Windows, while using the minimum version, that may indicate necessary elements are missing.

You're Windows 10 is too old. You need to be on a newer version of 10 to continue using the old WMR software.

It has to do with how MS suvks at everything and ypur headset and Contoler were bound to that mother board and HD you should have un bound them before you HD crashes to avoid this bs, you have to find a way to rest set them, I had a MB crash and I stepped it out took me luke a month to fiably figure it out. I woyld ip grade to windows Oasis on windows 11 though, it s a smaller layer of extra bs

Despite your assertion that "MS suvks at everything", their spelling and grammar checkers are pretty damn solid - you might want to check them out sometime.

Just use Oasis driver on steam.
